Chapter 41

In the dimly lit girls' bathroom at Hogwarts, Scorpius and Albus entered, their eyes falling on a large Victorian sink dominating the center.

Scorpius turned to Albus with a determined look. "We will drink Polyjuice Potion. I got the potion and hairs from one boy and one girl. They learn in sixth year, so we should be able to attend the Triwizard Tournament ball."

Albus nodded but then hesitated. "Yes, but who will be the girl?"

Scorpius pondered for a moment before replying, "I think I'll be the girl. You should talk to your father."

Albus muttered to himself, "Thank God I won't be the girl."

Scorpius then pulled out two potions and a set of blue dresses, one for a boy and one for a girl. "It will be safer if we wear Beauxbatons student dresses."

Suddenly, a jet of water burst from the sink, and a very wet Moaning Myrtle emerged, floating above them.

"Whoa. That feels good. Never used to enjoy that. But when you get to my age, you take what you can," Myrtle said with a sigh.

Scorpius beamed. "Of course — you’re a genius — Moaning Myrtle."

Myrtle swooped down close to Scorpius, her ghostly face inches from his. "What did you call me? Do I moan? Am I moaning now? AM I? AM I?"

"No, I didn’t mean..." Scorpius stammered.

"What's my name?" Myrtle demanded.

"Myrtle," Scorpius replied quickly.

"Exactly — Myrtle. Myrtle Elizabeth Warren — a pretty name — my name — no need for the moaning," she corrected him with a giggle.

Scorpius nodded. "Well..."

"It’s been a while. Boys. In my bathroom. In my girls’ bathroom. Well, that’s not right... But then again, I always did have a soft spot for the Potters. And I was moderately partial to a Malfoy too."

Albus interrupted, "You could go back to the lake."

Myrtle’s eyes landed on the Polyjuice Potion. "Oh, I remember how Harry, Ron, and Hermione made Polyjuice Potion in this bathroom in their second year. And how in his sixt year in another bathroom Draco cried that he can't tell anyone how he fells, he said that he worry that he will lost her girlfriend because if he would say something to her about his mission, she would end up in big danger."

"My mum isn't so stupid as to leave my dad when he's in danger," Scorpius replied defensively.

"But what are you doing here, in the girls' bathroom?" Myrtle asked, curious.

"The ball in the Triwizard Tournament. Twenty-five years ago. Harry and Cedric," Albus explained.

"Such a shame the pretty one had to die. Not that your father isn't pretty — but Cedric Diggory — you’d be amazed at how many girls I heard doing love incantations in this very bathroom... And the weeping after he was taken."

Albus pleaded, "Help us, Myrtle. Don't tell anyone we were here."

Myrtle smirked. "You think I can help you travel in time?"

"We need you to keep a secret," Albus clarified.

"I love secrets. I won’t tell a soul. Cross my heart and hope to die. Or — the equivalent for ghosts, you know," Myrtle promised with a grin.

Albus nodded at Scorpius, who revealed the Time-Turner.

"We can travel in time. We’re going to save Cedric Diggory," Albus announced.

Myrtle's grin widened. "Well, that sounds like fun."

Scorpius looked at Albus. "And we’ve no time to lose. Are you ready, Albus?"

"Tell me this is all going to be okay," Scorpius urged.

Albus grinned. "It’s all going to be entirely okay. Are you ready?"

Scorpius took the Time-Turner and activated it around him and Albus, leaving Moaning Myrtle alone.
