At Meredith's home.

Andy and Meredith were snuggling in bed of their new brought home.  It was really cold. Andy was trying to get up. But Meredith wouldn't let her. Was their first morning tougher at the new home. Their home. Meredith had finally sold the house she abd Derek built toughter to get a new one with her fianceé. Andy had pinched in with money her father had given her when he sold his house. " Mer we need to get up. We have three kids to feed and jobs. "

Meredith tightened her hold on Andy, pulling her closer. "I know, I know," she murmured, her voice warm and lazy. "But it's our first morning in our new home, Andy. Just let me have this moment. Besides is really cold today and is so harm here. "

Andy smiled, her body pressed against Meredith's, the warmth between them offering comfort against the cold air that seeped into the room. She knew how much this meant to Meredith, this fresh start. A new house, a new chapter. But Andy's mind was always ticking, always thinking of the practicalities—the kids, their jobs, their responsibilities.

“I’m serious, Mer,” Andy said, trying to wriggle free but not with too much force. “We can’t just stay in bed all day. We both have shifts and the kids have school ."

Meredith chuckled softly, her fingers tracing circles on Andy’s arm. "You’re right, of course. But if we’re going to make this work—this home, our life together—we have to find moments like this. For us. Just a little while longer."

"Okay, okay, we stay," Andy relented, her voice softening as she adjusted herself to settle back against Meredith. “But after this, we’re getting up. We’ve got kids to take care of, and—”

Meredith cut her off with a quick kiss. "I promise. We'll be responsible adults again in five minutes."

Andy laughed lightly, shifting so she could face Meredith. "Five minutes, huh?"

"Five minutes," Meredith confirmed with a wink, and they both settled back into the warmth of each other, their shared laughter echoing softly in the quiet room.

In that moment, they didn’t need to worry about the day ahead. The future, with all its responsibilities, could wait. For now, it was just them, in their new home, sharing a quiet morning that felt like the perfect beginning.

Meanwhile at Maya's apartment

Maya walked into the kitchen to find Carina making breakfast. She hugged her girlfriend from behind and kissed her neck. " Morning babe. I love your cooking but I don't love waking to a cold empty bed. "

Carina grabbed Maya's hand when kissed. " Bonjorno bambina. Someone had to make sure we had something too eat. You looked to cute in your sleep so I didn't have the courage to wake you up. "

Maya gave Carina a kiss on the cheek before letting go. " There is a blizzard coming so is going to be really chaotic. My team hates me. Andy hates me and it just sucks. "

Carina took a sip of her coffee. " Maya I don't think that Andy hates you. She is hurt because you went behind her back. I think is very likely Sullivan told her what you said about her. Maya you didn't just said you were better than her. You told him she was not qualified because she is to emotional. "

Maya looked down at the ground. " I just wanted the job so bad. For a moment I was just welling to do whatever it took. I knew Andy has not been in a good place and I used against her. Still she is supposed to act professionaly. She doesn't get to demine my authority as a Capitain just because she is angry with me. "

Carina bit her lip. " She is only doing that because you are letting her. You are letting her run over you because you want to repair your friendship with her. "

Maya shook her head. " I'm doing exactly what I told Sullivan Andy would do. I'm letting my emotions get in the way for doing my job. "

Carina nodded. " You both are bambina. But you are the Capitain now and is your job to make that stop. You went for this job bella now you have to do that you have to do. If Andy can handle having you as her Capitain you will have to request her transfer. "

Maya took a deep breath. " If I do that out friendship is over. 19 means everything to her. "

Carina grabbed Maya's hand. " Lo so bambina but like I said was the job you went for it. "

At the Station

Maya walked in with heavy heart. Carina was right but Maya couldn't do it so she went to her looker where Andy was finishing getting ready. " Andy please can we talk? Look I know you are upset but I didn't have myself the job! Sullivan did I just put my name on! I have been a firefighter for as long as you have ! What is do absurd to you me quitting bring your cheerleader to try to claim the ladder myself?"

Andy slammed her locker door close. " Maya you just didn't put your name on it. You said you should be Capitain because I couldn't handle my emotions! Because of course the Latina woman is a incompetent who can control herself. And you lied to me Maya the whole time when you pretended you believed in me. But in the end you don't see me any different from all the guys in the academy. "

Maya took a deep breath, bracing herself against the wave of guilt and anger surging through her. She hadn’t expected Andy to bring this up now—not after everything that had happened between them. But the look in Andy’s eyes, the raw betrayal, made her stomach twist.

“That’s not what happened,” Maya shot back, keeping her voice steady despite the emotions bubbling beneath the surface. “I never thought you were incompetent, Andy. And I never—”

“Don’t,” Andy cut her off sharply. “Don’t stand there and gaslight me.” She stepped forward, closing the space between them, her voice dropping but no less intense. “You knew what you were doing when you talked to Sullivan. You played right into what they already thought of me—an emotional mess who wasn’t fit to lead. Maya you can't change what you think of me. And I don't think we can work together anymore. I'm requesting a transfer. I cant work under some who thinks so low of me as you aparentely do."

Maya didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say for a slept of a moment she went eyes forward again and now she had lost her best friend.

Later that day

They were on the Engine on their way to a call. Andy had just found out her dad was daying and Maya hated that she couldn't be there for her friend. Aparentely they weren't friends anymore.

The freezing rain slammed against the windshield of Engine 19 as Andy Herrera gripped the dashboard. The roads were a mess—black ice coating the pavement, cars abandoned on the shoulder, and the wail of sirens cutting through the howling wind.

“This is a disaster,” she muttered, glancing at Vic, who was focused on driving.

“Yeah, well, welcome to Seattle,” Maya shot back, knuckles tight as she clenched her first.

The radio crackled. “Station 19, be advised—multiple vehicles involved in a pileup on I-5. Several occupants trapped, possible fatalities. Use extreme caution—conditions are deteriorating.”

“Copy that,” Maya responded.

In the back of the rig, Warren and Dean exchanged uneasy glances. The last time they’d responded to ice this bad, it hadn’t ended well.

“Okay, game faces on,” Andy said, turning back to the team as Maya pulled up to the scene. The wreckage was worse than expected—cars crumpled like tin cans, a semi sprawled across two lanes, and shattered glass glistening under the emergency lights.

The second Andy stepped out, the wind nearly knocked her back. “Great. This just keeps getting better.”

Maya zipped up her jacket. “You think this is bad? Try sprinting in a foot of snow —” She stopped herself, jaw tightening. “Never mind. Let’s just get to work.”

Andy didn’t push. Instead, she nodded toward the wreckage. “ What do you want me Capitain?"

Maya took a moment. " You , Hudges, Momtogonery and Miller get to rescue. "

As they split up, Andy’s breath puffed in the freezing air. Her hands were already numb, but she didn’t have time to worry about that. Right now, her focus was on the driver slumped against the steering wheel, their breath fogging up the cracked glass.

“Hey, I’m Andy. I’m with the fire department. We’re gonna get you out of here, okay?”

She turned to call for extraction tools when a patrol car slipped into the ice road hitting her.

The impact came fast—too fast for Andy to react. One moment, she was standing, calling for tools; the next, there was a blur of flashing lights and screeching tires before pain exploded through her side. The force sent her sprawling against the wreckage, her helmet slamming into the crumpled remains of a sedan.

“Andy!” Vic’s scream cut through the chaos.

Maya whipped around just in time to see Andy collapse onto the ice.

“Shit,” Maya muttered, rushing toward her.

Andy groaned, trying to push herself up, but pain lanced through her ribs, and her left leg wouldn’t cooperate.

“Stay down,” Maya ordered, kneeling beside her. “What hurts?”

“Everything,” Andy bit out, squeezing her eyes shut. “But my leg—my leg’s stuck.”

Maya glanced down, her stomach twisting. Andy’s leg was pinned between the patrol car’s fender and the wreckage of another vehicle. Ice and slush were already seeping into her gear.

“Vic, Warren! I need help here!” Maya called.

Vic slid next to them while Warren grabbed the extrication tools.

“Damn it,” Vic muttered. “We need to move the car off her leg before the cold makes things worse.”

“Tell me something I don’t know,” Maya snapped, trying to mask the fear clawing at her throat.

Andy gritted her teeth. “ I smell gas. That means no tools that could cause a sparkle. You can't get me out. "

Maya froze for half a second before snapping back into action. “Okay, okay—no sparks. We’ll do this manually.” She turned to Vic. “We need cribbing and a jack to stabilize the car. Warren, get a blanket on her—she’s already losing body heat.”

Andy bit her lip. " You can't there is a piece of sharp metal stuck on my tight. You can't pull without out making me bleed up. You need to make sure the engines are cool and the gas liek is handled. I may be dead from blood loss or hypothermia when is safe to cut all the metal but you can't put everyone at risky to save me. "

Maya's heart hammered in her chest as Andy's words sank in. The reality of the situation hit her with full force, and the cold ice that had seeped into her gear seemed to freeze the air in her lungs. Andy was trying to be brave, but Maya could see the pain in her eyes. She couldn’t let her friend—or her team—go through this.

“Don’t say that, Andy,” Maya said, her voice shaking with determination. She reached for Andy’s hand, trying to comfort her. “We’re not giving up on you. We’re going to make sure you get out of this, okay?”

She turned to Vic and Warren, her mind racing as she tried to think of every possible way to keep Andy safe. They couldn’t afford to make any mistakes—not now, not with so much on the line.

"Vic, get the blanket over her, now. Warren, I need you to work on stabilizing the car. We can't afford any movement. And get the engines cooled down as quickly as possible!" Maya barked the orders, her voice authoritative but full of urgency.

She turned back to Andy, keeping her voice calm despite the panic she felt bubbling inside. "Stay with me, okay? We're not letting you die out here."

Andy gritted her teeth, struggling to stay conscious. "Maya... You are the Capitain you have a team to lead "

Maya grabbed Andy's hand. " I'm the Capitain and my priority now is you. Maya pressed her radio. " Dispatch we need more unities. We have a firefighter down. 19 os handling nothing but our Leiutenent rescue. "

Maya looked around. " Warren give Herrera some fentanyl and warn saline. Miller, Gibson get this engines cool. Vasquez, Dickson get the gas leak contained! "

Andy looked at her best friend. " Meredith proposed. we-I are getting -married. If - I& If I make out of this - I want you to be my made of honor. "

Maya squeezed Andy's hand as Vic pulled the blanket around her and Warren administered the meds and the saline.  " You are going to make it Andy. I'm sorry that I broke us. I'm sorry that I never said that before but I love you. You are a sister to me. I don't think I knew what- I was alone before you. "

Andy squeezed Maya's hand back. " You didn't break us. You were right - I wasn't ready - I just wanted you to believe - I was. I love you too Mai. Tell Mer I love her. And the kids - tell them that I love them more than anything "

Maya couldn't no longer hold her tears. " You are telling them this yourself. You are not daying on me. "

Maya looked around. " Gibson are we good to go?"

Jack nodded. " Yes Captain. "

Maya bit her lip. " Alright Montogomey get the jaws. Hudgens be ready to cut. Warren and Cuttler be ready to extraction. Let's move!"

Everyone moved as fast as the could. Maya felt like her saw had left her body. Like she was watching everything from outside. She came back to get senses when she heard Warren. " Captain are you reading with Herrera.  "

Maya rushed to the Aid Car. " Gibson you are in charge. "

Meanwhile, across town, Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital was already overflowing with ice-related traumas. Meredith Grey pulled off her gloves, tossing them into the nearest bin before heading for the nurses’ station.

“Who’s next?” she asked.

Levi Schmitt glanced at the chart in his hands. “ Perturbed leg, possible artery bleed, possible internal bleeding. Car accident victim coming in now.”

Meredith barely had time to grab a fresh pair of gloves before the trauma doors burst open, paramedics rushing in a patient on a gurney.

At first, she didn’t think twice about it—just another injury in the chaos.

And then she saw him.

Derek Shepherd.

Standing in the middle of her ER like he belonged there. Like it hadn’t been years since he walked away.

Meredith froze.

Derek met her gaze. “Hey, Mer.”

And just like that, the ice storm outside wasn’t the coldest thing in the room anymore.

Before Meredith could say anything she saw Owen and Teddy bringing in a patient. Not any patient. A firefighter. Her firefighter.

As they took her to a trauma bay Meredith fallowed them but a nurse stopped her. " Dr. Grey you need to let them work. You know you can't treat your fiance. "

Meredith knew she was right so she stepped back to find Maya looking very distraught. " Meredith I'm so sorry. She was hit by a dammit patrol car. I don't even know where it came from. That was a gas leak and she couldn't use tools and we couldn't pull out because she couldn't bleed out I'm sorry."

Meredith didn't know what to do. Was than that Carina walked in and pulled Maya into her arms. The blond just sobbed into her arms. Meredith collapsed into a nearby chair.

Was than that Owen walked in. " We are taking her to sergury to repair the damage to her aorta. She has a deslocated hib but no breaks. The hypothermia puts her on a higher risk. You need to call her father he is the next of kin. "

Meredith shook her head, her voice firm despite the panic in her chest. “ I will do that. Just please keep me updated.

Owen blinked, momentarily caught off guard, but he nodded. “Alright. I will. .”

As he turned back toward the OR, Meredith felt her legs give out slightly. Andy was in surgery. Andy was in critical condition. The ice storm, the wreck, the gas leak—it all blurred together in her mind.

A warm hand landed on her shoulder. “Mer,” Carina said softly.

Meredith turned to her, then to Maya, whose face was still buried against Carina’s shoulder. She reached out, squeezing Maya’s hand. “She’s strong. She’s going to make it.”

Maya nodded, swallowing hard, but said nothing.

Before Meredith could say anything else, another voice cut through the noise.

“Meredith?”

She stiffened. The voice was familiar, achingly familiar.

Derek.

Slowly, she turned around. There he was—standing in the middle of the ER, looking just as she remembered him, except older. Time had softened some of the sharpness in his face, but his eyes were still the same.

She clenched her jaw. “What are you doing here?”

Derek took a cautious step forward. “I work here now Is my first day back I-"

Carina and Maya were watching the exchange silently, but Meredith didn’t care. She had bigger things to deal with than her ex-husband suddenly reappearing in her life.

“I don’t have time for this,” she muttered, rubbing her temples. “My fiancée is in surgery. So I don't care about what you have to say! Just please get out of here! Just get out!"

Derek didn't say anything. He just stepped out.

Carina tighned her grip on Maya. " Bambina you are trembling and you are cold. Let me get you checked. Andy's sergury is going to take a while. "

Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital – Exam Room

Maya sat stiffly on the edge of the exam table, her arms wrapped tightly around herself. The heat of the hospital should have thawed her by now, but she still felt frozen, her fingers trembling as she clutched her turnout jacket. The image of Andy, bleeding and pinned, refused to leave her mind. Every time she blinked, she saw the wreckage, the ice, the gas leak, the way Andy had looked at her like she was accepting she might not make it.

Carina stood in front of her, carefully unzipping Maya’s soaked jacket. “Bambina, you’re shaking. Let me check your vitals, si?”

Maya didn’t respond. She couldn’t. Her throat was closing up, her chest felt like it was collapsing inward.

Carina frowned and gently reached for Maya’s hands. “Hey, look at me. You’re safe. Andy is in surgery, and the doctors are taking care of her.”

But Maya couldn’t hear her.

Her ears were filled with a howling wind. Not the storm outside—no, this was from another time, another place.

She was a kid again, running through the snow. Her lungs burned, her legs ached, but stopping wasn’t an option. Her father’s voice rang in her ears. "Eyes forward  You stop, you fail. You fail, you're nothing."

The cold bit at her skin, ice soaked into her socks, and her tiny hands turned numb. But she kept running, pushing, because if she didn’t—

"Eyes forward, Maya! You lost and I don't raise losers!"

She gasped sharply, suddenly back in the hospital, but the walls felt too close, the room too small. The freezing sensation wasn’t just in her memory—it was real. It was inside her, spreading from her chest outward, her heart pounding so fast it hurt.

Maya,” Carina’s voice cut through the fog, firm but gentle. She crouched in front of her, rubbing Maya’s icy hands between her own. “You are having a panic attack, amore. Eyes on me bambina. "

Maya shook her head, her breaths coming in shallow, rapid gasps. “I—I can’t—”

“You can.” Carina reached up, cupping Maya’s face, forcing her to focus. “Hi.  Eyes on me. You are not out there. You are not in the snow. You are here, with me. You are safe bambina. "

Maya’s eyes darted wildly around the room as her chest tightened even more. “She was trapped, Carina. I couldn’t—” She choked on a sob. “She was looking at me like she was saying goodbye.

Carina’s own eyes shone with emotion, but she stayed steady. “And she is still fighting, Maya. She is in surgery, not out there in the cold anymore. You saved her. You got her out. "

Maya let out a ragged breath, her body still trembling violently. “I—I don’t feel like I saved her. I feel like I failed. I couldn’t move the car, I couldn’t stop the gas leak, I couldn’t— She had to make all the calls because I couldn't-"

Carina grabbed both of Maya’s hands and pressed them to her own chest. “Feel that? My heartbeat?”

Maya nodded weakly.

“Then focus on it. Stay here with me.” Carina exhaled slowly, guiding Maya through a deep breath. “In through your nose, out through your mouth.

Maya tried to follow, her breath still shaky, but Carina didn’t let go. “Again, bambina. With me.

It took several tries, but finally, the tight grip on Maya’s chest started to ease. The room came back into focus. Carina’s hands, warm and grounding, her deep brown eyes filled with nothing but love and worry.

Maya let out a broken exhale, her body slumping forward. Carina caught her, wrapping her arms around her tightly.

“I got you,” Carina whispered, holding her close. “You are safe. I'm here bella. I promise you that you are safe.  "

Maya buried her face against Carina’s shoulder, gripping her tightly as silent tears slid down her face.

Carina ran her finger trough Maya's hair. " Amore let me get some warn fluids into you. Will make you feel all better. "

Maya was to tired to argue so she let Carina put the IV in her arm than the Italian laid next to Maya and held her.

A while later

Maya woke up still in Carina's arms. " Hi bambina. Andy is still in sergury. Let me get you back to the waiting room si?"

At the waiting room

They walked in to find Meredith with her head resting in Amelia's shoulder. Pruitt was seating on her other side his face pale as tears streamed down his face.

Was than that Teddy walked in. " Andy made trough the sergury with no major complications but she is not out the woods yet. With her hypothermia the risks of security bleeds and cloths are significant. We are moving her to the ICU. You will be able to see her soon. "

Meredith let out a shaky breath, nodding at Teddy’s words, but she didn’t move right away. Her body felt too heavy, like all the stress, fear, and exhaustion had finally settled in her bones. Amelia gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze, while Pruitt wiped at his face, trying to steady himself.

Maya leaned against Carina trying to get her emotions under control.

When they were finally allowed to see her Pruitt was the first one in. When he got back Meredith put her hand on Maya's arm. " Go see her. Once I'm here I'm not leaving. "

Maya nodded.

As she walked inside she felt a mix of relief and fear. Relief to see Andy alive and fear for what was going to happen next. She aproched the bed and grabbed Andy's hand. " I need you to live Andy. I just need you to live. "

Was all Maya managed to say. After a couple minutes she walked out so Meredith could be with her fiance.

Meredith walked inside Andy's ICU room and sat on the chair next to her. " Hi princesa. I love you so much. I really need you to wake up. The kids need you. I need you. I promise when you wake up I'm going to take care of you. "

Later at Maya's apartment

Carina guided Maya to the bathroom and took of her girlfriend cloths before addressing herself. Once the were both in the shower Carina turned on the water. Maya was barely moving so the doctor washed her hair and body.

Maya let Carina dry her up and help her into a pair of warm pajamas before guiding her to bed. That the doctor drayed Maya's hair before getting to bed pulling Maya with her. " Thank you Car. You were my rock today. "

Carina ran her fingers through Maya's hair. " Anytime bambina.  Anytime. You are still shaking amore. "

Maya sunnugled into Carina. " I don't like being outside in the cold.  My dad used to make me run miles in the snow. I didn't like it. I know he wanted to help me win but I didn't like it. "

Carina tightened her arms around Maya, pressing a kiss to her temple. "I know, amore. I know." She ran soothing circles over Maya's back, feeling the tension still lingering in her muscles. "You never have to do that again. You’re safe now. I'm here with you bella."

Maya let out a shaky breath. "I keep seeing Andy out there, in the cold, trapped. And I just—" She swallowed hard. "I couldn't stop it. I couldn't save her fast enough. I didn't know what to do. The memories - the fear. I just couldn't -"

Carina cupped Maya’s cheek, tilting her face up so their eyes met. "You did save her, Maya. Got her out. She is alive and fighting because of you and your team."

Maya shook her head. "But what if it’s not enough? What if she doesn’t—" Her voice broke, the fear still thick in her chest.

Carina didn’t let her spiral. She pulled Maya even closer, their foreheads touching. " Andy is to stubborn to leave. She is going to be fine amore."

Maya nodded weakly, but the doubt was still there.

Carina pressed another soft kiss to her forehead. "For now, let’s try to get some rest, si? Andy will need you strong when she wakes up. "

Maya hesitated but finally let herself relax against Carina’s warmth. "Will you hold me?"

Carina smiled gently. "Always, bambina."

She pulled the blanket over them, keeping Maya close, whispering soft reassurances until, finally, Maya's body stopped trembling and exhaustion pulled her into sleep.

Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital – ICU

The steady beeping of the heart monitor filled the quiet room. Meredith sat by Andy’s bedside, her fingers curled around Andy’s hand.

"You scared the hell out of me, princesa," she whispered. Her free hand brushed lightly over Andy’s forehead, pushing back a stray curl. "I need you to fight, okay? I need you to come back to me. We are supposed to get married remember?"

She exhaled slowly, pressing a kiss to Andy’s knuckles. "Zola’s been asking for you. The kids need you. I need you. I really need you mi vida. "

Her voice wavered, but she held tight to Andy’s hand. "You promised me forever, remember?"

She felt the slightest twitch against her palm. Meredith’s breath caught.

"Andy?"

It was faint—so faint she almost thought she imagined it—but then, Andy’s fingers curled ever so slightly around hers.

Meredith’s heart pounded. "Okay, okay, you're coming back to me," she whispered, pressing another kiss to Andy’s hand. "Just keep fighting, mi amor. I will be right here when you wake up. "

At the next day

Maya walked into Andy's ICU room to find Meredith holding Andy's hand. " Hi Maya. They took the tube out but she is not waking up. "

Maya took a deep breath. " She is breathing on her own. That is a good sign right?"

Was than that Andy opened her eyes.

Andy’s eyes fluttered open, unfocused and hazy. She blinked sluggishly, her gaze darting around as if trying to piece together where she was.

"Andy?" Meredith was instantly on her feet, leaning over her. "Princesa, can you hear me?"

Maya took a hesitant step closer, her heart pounding in her chest. "Andy, it's us. You’re safe. You are in the hospital. "

Andy’s brow furrowed slightly, her lips parting as if to speak, but only a weak rasp came out. Meredith quickly grabbed a cup of ice chips, taking a small piece and pressing it gently to Andy’s lips.

"Here, baby, just a little," Meredith murmured, her other hand stroking Andy’s cheek.

Andy’s dry lips parted further, accepting the ice. After a moment, she swallowed, her throat still raw. "Mer..." Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Relief crashed over Meredith so fast it nearly stole her breath. She squeezed Andy’s hand, pressing a lingering kiss to her fingers. "Yeah, mi vida, I’m here. I’ve got you."

Andy’s eyes shifted slightly, landing on Maya. "Maya..."

Maya let out a shaky breath, stepping up to the other side of the bed. "Hey, Herrera." Her voice was rough with emotion. "You scared the hell out of us."

Andy tried for a small smirk, but it barely formed before she winced, exhaustion evident in every part of her. "Didn’t... mean to."

Meredith let out a watery chuckle. " I know but still- I'm just glad you are wake."

Andy’s fingers weakly curled around Maya’s hand. "You... okay?"

Maya swallowed hard, gripping her hand tighter. "I am now."

Andy’s eyelids were already drooping again, her body still too weak to fight the pull of sleep. Meredith stroked her hair, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "Rest, mi vida. I’ll be right here when you wake up."

Andy barely nodded before sleep pulled her under again, but this time, her breathing was steady, her body more at peace.

Maya let out a shaky exhale, looking at Meredith. "She’s really okay?"

Meredith nodded, though her eyes were still damp. "She’s going to be. It’ll take time, but she’s will heal."

Maya squeezed Andy’s hand once more before releasing it. "I’ll let the others know."

As she turned to leave, Meredith called after her. "Maya."

Maya paused.

Meredith held her gaze, something unreadable in her expression. "Thank you. For getting her out."

Maya hesitated before nodding, emotions too raw to put into words. "She got herself out"

With that, she stepped out of the room, her chest still heavy, but for the first time since the accident, hope flickered in her heart. Andy was awake. She was fighting. And maybe—just maybe—everything would be okay.
