Chapter 2
Maeglin is quite the elusive one, avoiding everyone and everything with ease. He burns letters from multiple lords, Idril, and even King Turgon without a second thought. He spends most of his time in the forge, where he hammers away at his craft, or locked up in his room, where he reads, trains at night, or listens to music on his phone. People who attempt to contact him often find themselves waiting for up to six hours before giving up and leaving.
Maeglin is not particularly fond of the constant cries and pleas for him to come out and talk. To drown out the noise, he immerses himself in his metalwork, reading, or music. King Turgon and Idril are a bit of a bother, always hovering near his door or the forge, begging and crying. Despite their persistence, Maeglin remains unbothered and ignores them, knowing full well that he can outlast them.
Maeglin's newest works are truly a work of art. His swords, forged using celestial steel and the asteroid metal Eol invented, are fit for gods. He cools and sharpens the blades before storing them in a safe place.
Maeglin has a plan to get back at Morgoth, and he's quite excited about it. He wonders if he should reveal his identity and traumatize Morgoth with his memories of Tartarus and the arena or remain anonymous. Either way, he wants Morgoth to know that there's always someone stronger and darker than he is. Maeglin plans to take the shiny objects (whose name he has forgotten due to his ADHD) with him, and he's willing to drag Morgoth across the ground to get them if he has to.
He also keeps an eye on the seven brothers, sending them weapons and food through hellhounds or other animals. Maeglin strolls cheerfully to his room, avoiding the pranks he has set up in various locations.
Once in his room, Maeglin locks the door and windows, changes into comfortable clothes, and throws himself onto the bed, happy with his progress and confident in his abilities. He knows that he's got what it takes to succeed, and he's happy to share his good vibes with anyone who needs them.
