Hermione Pov

This morning the first class me Ron, and Harry had was D.A.D.A. with the new American professors.

I could tell Ron felt slightly intimidated by them, and Harry felt cautious because two of them weren professors. Ever since Moody was switched with the imposter that tried to kill Harry he’s been extra cautious around the professors. Mad- Eye’s death didn’t help matters either.
But so far I don't think they’re that dangerous. Even if the look in their eyes makes me want to hide and never come out.

So maybe they are a bit dangerous…

We walked into the classroom and I saw Percy and Jason in their seats already and Will in the front looking slightly uncomfortable and nervous but I couldn't see Nico anywhere.

Right as I finished that thought the man in question walked in with a contemplating look but once we all turned to look at him he scowled and jumped slightly glaring with those bloody scary eyes, making almost everyone look away.

He still looked like a defensive kitten but I had a feeling this kitten could bite my head off whenever he wanted so I turned as well.

Nico walked to the front of the room and announced the lesson for the day was on the boggart.

I was immediately super excited as we hadn’t done the boggart since professor lupin.

Who is now dead but yeah.
I was excited.

“Can anyone explain what the boggart does?” My hand shot up

“Yes hermione”

“Boggarts are shape-shifters whose true form is unknown, that change shape to resemble their beholder's worst fear”

I sat down as Nico continued,

“Will is going first”

Yes we finally get to see the American professors' fears.

Will walked up to the closet and unlocked the boggart.

Immediately an image of Nico on the floor being hurt? Tortured??
A dark place showed up.
Will immediately paled and shouted riddikulus but i saw nico’s miniscule flinch

Though he covered it so perfectly it scared me.
I thought I was the only one who noticed but Percy and Jason in the crowd frowned slightly.

Then the image of nico on the screen became a younger version of will small, and scared
Running from giant birds with his mother, i started to wonder if this was a reality that will had faced when the bird dived and knocked over his mother pecking at her body till she died with the younger version of will crying under a bush.

Will yelled riddikulus again and it showed a glimpse of a battle?

Some guy that looked like will but taller and stronger was there

But at the end of the scene he was gone and Will was running around with bandages and med kits trying to heal as many people as he could but it didn’t work.

Finally the image showed Will and nico in what looked like a strawberry field, holding hands, Nico wearing the softest smile on his face.

Nico smiled and blushed softly chiding will for being cheesy
I saw Jason stand up along with Percy and yell "That's my otp bitches!”

Just as quick as the smile came in
was replaced with that disgruntled cat scowl and a glare that made me flinch and I wasn't even the target of the look.

Percy and Jason sat down so fast they fell and I heard Harry chuckle softly.

Soon after we all had our turns with the boggart Harry getting the dementors again, Ron a spider, and for me and P in transfiguration though turned into an E though much to Ron's annoyance, my relief, and Harry's amusement.

“You always get the simple fears!”

“It’s not my fault you have and crazy fear of spiders”

“I had a dark childhood hermione”
“Daddy Long Legs and tarantulas” “Those Bloody troublemakers Fred and George”

The bell rang for the class to end and as we exited the room, it struck me
Why did the boggart show such violent pictures? It can't make up fears from nothing.

And why did Percy and Jason seem unsurprised?

The exchange students have more layers than I thought.

Day skip-

The trio Pov:

---

The Great Hall was abuzz with the usual chatter as students enjoyed their breakfast. But Hermione Granger had little interest in her food. Her mind was occupied with two out of 6 new faces she had spotted around Hogwarts recently: Nico di Angelo and Will Solace
“Who do you think they are?” Hermione whispered to Harry and Ron, her eyes fixed on the Slytherin table where Nico and Will were sitting, talking quietly among themselves.

Ron shrugged, taking a large bite of his toast. “Dunno. They don’t seem like regular exchange students, though.”

Harry nodded in agreement. “Yeah, they keep to themselves a lot. And did you see Nico in Defense Against the Dark Arts? He handled that boggart like it was nothing.”

Hermione frowned, deep in thought. She had noticed that as well. Nico had dispatched the boggart with a flick of his wrist, turning it into a harmless puff of smoke. There was something otherworldly about the way he moved, as if he were more accustomed to danger than any student at Hogwarts.

“I’m going to find out,” Hermione said decisively, standing up from the table. “I’ll check the library for any records of new students or special exchanges.”

“Of course you will,” Ron muttered with a grin, but he and Harry followed her out of the Great Hall.

---

The library was quiet, save for the rustling of pages and the occasional whisper. Hermione led the way to a secluded corner where they could discuss without being overheard.

“Let’s start with the most recent records,” she suggested, pulling out a thick tome labeled **“Student Admissions and Exchanges: 1990-Present.”**

As they pored over the pages, Harry kept a lookout for Madame Prince. Hermione’s fingers skimmed through the entries quickly, but there was no mention of Nico di Angelo or Will Solace.

“This is strange,” Hermione murmured, frustration evident in her voice. “There’s no record of them at all.”

“Maybe they’re using fake names,” Ron suggested, though he didn’t sound convinced.

“Or maybe they’re not from around here,” Harry added, a thoughtful expression on his face. “Remember when we met the other wizards from different magical communities during the Triwizard Tournament? They had different customs and magic.”

Hermione nodded slowly. “That’s a possibility. But we need more information.”

Just then, the library door creaked open, and Hermione saw Nico and Will enter, glancing around as if searching for something. They made their way to the restricted section, which piqued Hermione’s curiosity even more.

“Let’s follow them,” she whispered, and the trio moved as quietly as possible, hiding behind shelves as they trailed the two boys.

Nico and Will reached a secluded table, pulling out a few ancient-looking books. Hermione managed to catch a glimpse of the titles: **Norse Mythology”** and **Symbols connecting Death and Life .”**

“What are they doing with those?” Ron whispered, eyes wide.

Before Hermione could respond, Nico looked up, his dark eyes locking onto theirs with unnerving precision. “You can come out. We know you’re there.

Feeling caught, Hermione stepped out from behind the shelf, followed by Harry and Ron. “We’re sorry,” she began, trying to sound sincere. “We just wanted to know more about you.”

Will exchanged a glance with Nico, who sighed and closed his book. “It’s okay. We’ve been expecting this.”

Hermione raised an eyebrow. “Expecting what?”

“For someone to notice we don’t exactly fit in,” Nico said with a small smirk. “ Since we’re new teachers here, and we’ve been getting some extra lesson material on... mythology and its connections to our studies.”

Harry’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Extra lessons? With those books?”

Will nodded, giving them a reassuring smile. “Yeah, it’s part of a special curriculum. We’re studying Norse mythology and other things . It’s pretty advanced stuff.”

Hermione, ever the inquisitive one, stepped closer to the table, her curiosity piqued. “Why would Hogwarts offer such specific lessons to new teachers?”

Nico shrugged, successfully appearing nonchalant. “It’s a new program they’re testing out”

Ron snorted, barely containing his skepticism. “Yeah, right. And I’m the Minister of Magic.”

Will chuckled lightly, trying to diffuse the tension. “Look, it’s all legit. If you don’t believe us, you can ask Professor McGonagall. She’s the one overseeing our lessons.”

Hermione looked at Harry and Ron, then back at Nico and Will. “Alright,” she said slowly. “We’ll check with her. But if you’re lying—”

“We’re not,” Nico interrupted, his dark eyes earnest. “We’re just here to teach you.”, “Same as all the other teachers.”

Harry watched them closely, but he couldn’t detect any deceit in their expressions. “Okay. We’ll ask McGonagall. But if we find out you’re hiding something...”

“We understand,” Will said, nodding. “You’re just looking out for your school. We’d do the same.”

With that, the trio reluctantly left the library, leaving Nico and Will behind. As they walked back to the common room, Hermione’s mind was racing with questions.

---

Later that evening, Hermione knocked on Professor McGonagall’s office door. “Professor, may we speak with you?”

“Come in, Miss Granger,” McGonagall’s voice called from inside.

Hermione, Harry, and Ron entered, finding the professor seated behind her desk, grading papers. “What is it, Miss Granger?”

Hermione took a deep breath. “It’s about the new professors , Nico di Angelo and Will Solace. They said they’re here for a special curriculum involving mythology. Is that true?”

McGonagall’s eyes narrowed slightly, but her expression remained composed. “Mr. Di Angelo and Mr. Solace are indeed part of a special program. They are here to teach certain subjects that are not typically part of our curriculum. I assure you, their presence has been thoroughly vetted.”

Harry and Ron exchanged surprised glances, while Hermione nodded slowly. “Thank you, Professor. We just wanted to make sure everything was in order.”

“Understandable,” McGonagall replied, her tone firm but kind. “If that’s all, I have quite a bit of grading to finish.”

As they left McGonagall’s office, Hermione still felt a nagging doubt. “I don’t know, something still feels off about them.”

“Yeah,” Ron agreed. “But McGonagall wouldn’t lie, would she?”

Harry shrugged. “I don’t think she would. But maybe there’s more to Nico and Will than they’re letting on.”

Hermione nodded thoughtfully. “We’ll have to keep an eye on them. Just in case.”

---

Back in the library, Nico and Will exchanged relieved glances. “That was close,” Will muttered.

Nico nodded, his expression serious. “Yeah, but they’re going to keep digging. We need to be more careful.”

“Agreed,” Will said, returning to his book. “Let’s just hope they don’t find out the real reason we’re here.”

Nico glanced around the library, his eyes lingering on the shadows in the corners. “They won’t. Not if we stay one step ahead.”

As they continued their research, a sense of unease settled over them. They knew the stakes were high, and the last thing they needed was the Hogwarts students discovering their true mission. For now, their secret was safe—but how long that would last was anyone’s guess.

They walked away not noticing the shadows flicker or the extra set of eyes.
