“James I just don't see how this could be a possibly good idea?” Remus mumbles while he shuffles with James, the both of them hidden under the invisibility cloak. As they’re making their way to the empty classroom James spots Severus also making his way towards the room. Before Remus can stop him, James pulls out his wand and quickly casts ‘Flipendo’ causing Severus to fall backwards, startling him just enough for him to quickly turn around and go back to wherever he had come from. When hames does this he earns a sharp kick from Remus Lupin.
“Merlin Remus! No need to kick me like that it’s just Snivellus.” James scoffs. As he tucks his wand back into his robe. James looks back to see Severus making his way back down the stairs. Before he can even think about pulling his wand out again Remus kicks him one more time.
“Look Moony you don’t need to come with me. I’m perfectly capable of nicking some Liquid Luck from Slughorn myself okay?” James and Remus quickly open the door and slip into the room making sure to carefully close it behind them. Once they’re in the clean James slips the cloak off of both of them while they look for the potion.
“Yeah I’m just here to prevent you from getting caught.” Remus says, rolling his eyes as James starts digging through the Room. James starts digging through every drawer he can find while Remus lingers near the door hoping to prevent them from getting caught. Remus is the one who spots it sitting on Professor Slughorn's desk.
“Prongs.” Remus whispers sharply, nodding his head in the direction of the desk. James pauses a moment, looks at Remus, looks at the desk and then looks at Remus confused. James walks over to the desk and after digging around in and under it for maybe 5 minutes he finally sees it, sitting on top of the desk.
“Oi, good thinking with that one Moony” James says as Remus just stares at him with the upmost disbelief. James quickly pockets the potion and both of them get back under the cloak and manage to slip away out the room and down the hall without being spotted. As They turn into an empty hallway and pull the cloak off, Slughorn enters his room.
“We’re bloody brilliant Moony! Now we just gotta make our way back to the Dorm and how hard is that gonna be.” James says excitedly. They start walking and make their way out of the hallway they were just in, Slughorn walks back out of his office with a very annoyed look on his face. Slughorn spots James and Remus and he approachs them.

“Welcome back you two” Sirius greets them, he then looks between James and Remus for a moment before asking; “I assume you got it right?” Remus and James look at each other.
“Yeah about that. We have bad news, and bad news. Which one you prefer first?” James says looking nervously between Sirius and Peter.
“You got caught didn’t you? And you got detention I assume” Peter says shaking his head. James deadpans at Peter as Sirius laughs disbelievingly.
“Yes thanks Pete for spoiling both of the bad news.” James sighs as he hangs his head. Sirius got up from where he was seated and pat james on his shoulder.
“It’s all good mate we can find another way to woo Lily Evans right?” Sirius encourages. James sighs and dramatically throws himself on the bed, huffing loudly as the rest of the marauders sit down, Peter on the floor, and Remus and Sirius on Remus’ bed.
“It’s almost Christmas yeah? Sirius are you coming home with me for the break?” James sits up to ask Sirius. Who looks around sort of anxiously. Remus nudges his shoulder slightly prompting him to give James any sort of answer.
“I think I’m staying here this year. Obviously I’m not going to grimmauld but Regulus isn’t going home this year and I want to stay with him.” Sirius says as he glances over at James whose grinning. “What. Why are you grinning like that”
“I’ll stay back too Sirius, Mum doesn’t mind if I stay back especially if I’m staying back with you. And think of all the pranks we can do with the school empty!” James laughs already planning dozens of pranks for over the holidays. “I should go and find out what lily’s doing for the holidays!” James exclaims as he gets up and grabs the map off of his bed.
“James come on now.” Pete tries to reason but James has already made his way out the door. Peter just looks at Sirius and Remus who both shrug, Peter sighs and stands up off of the floor brushing himself off before he goes and follows James.
