Rescue from the Raft (Laurel x Wanda)

Laurel Potter stood beside Steve Rogers, both of them staring out over the imposing structure of the Raft, a high-security prison designed to hold the most dangerous powered individual. Steve's expression was grave as he turned toward Laurel, "There's no coming back from this. You do know this, right?"

Laurel's response was firm, her green eyes blazed with determination, "You're a fool if you think I care."

They had come here for a reason, a mission to rescue their teammates. The end of the battle between Stark and Rogers had left Clint, Sam, Scott, and Wanda locked up behind the prison's walls.

Steve looked over at Laurel and grimaced, "Think you can do something about your hair? Doesn't really lend itself well to stealth," he said as his eyes looked over the long fuchsia locks that were pulled back into a messy bun.

Laurel pulled a lock of her hair from behind her ear and looked down. She loved the pinkish purple tone but agreed with Steve. Her natural black would be better for this particular endeavor. She shook her head and after three shakes black had bled through the fuchsia colour and left her looking like she did while in school.

"Better?" she asked with a smirk.

"Thank you."

The duo moved through the dimly lit corridors of the raft. Every sense heightened and every step deliberate. The air was heavy, and the only sound was the faint hum of machinery in the distance. Laurel's heartbeat steadily, adrenaline coursed through her veins as they approached their destination.

As they rounded the corner Laurel and Steve spotted two guards that stood outside the control room. Without missing a beat, Laurel's wand slid out of its holster and into her grasp. She didn't hesitate and without uttering a word two flashes of red lightning flew through the air and struck their targets. The two guards collapsed to the ground into a heap.

"Let's go," Steve whispered as he took the lead. He slowly opened the door and was relieved that only one guard was on duty. Laurel stayed outside to keep watch while Steve crept in behind the lone soldier, wrapped his arm around the man's neck and pulled him from his chair. Within seconds the guard went limp, and Steve tied him up in the corner.

"We're clear," Steve whispered and together they moved the two guards from the hall into the room.

Laurel spent the next few minutes pacing near the door while Steve clicked away on the computers. She stayed as far back from the technology as possible so that her magic would cause any kind of negative reaction. She took a couple of deep breaths trying to calm down so that she wouldn't snap at Steve for taking so long when he finally spoke.

"Got them!"

"Where?" Laurel snapped as she took a single step closer. She looked over the monitors and saw Clint lying on a cot. Scott was seated on the group. Sam was pacing in his cell. As she scanned the other monitors, she noticed something.

"Where's Wanda?!"

"What?" Steve asked as she finally looked up at the monitors.

"She's not there. Where is she?" Laurel snapped.

"Give me a second. I'll find her."

After a tense minute of silence with only the click of keys echoing in the room Steve called out, "Got her, Level 5, Cell 54-PI."

"I'm on it!" Laurel yelled and fled the control room at full speed.

As Laurel ran towards the stairwell her feet barely touched the ground. She pushed her way through the door and soared down to level five where Wanda was being held. The door held a large warning sign that read, 'RESTRICTED SECTION – AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY' which Laurel took great pleasure in ignoring.

As she pushed through the door, she found herself face to face with a group of armed soldiers, that when they spotted her, raised their weapons. Without hesitation Laurel yelled out "Aguamenti Maxima" and a large tidal wave moved through the hall and slammed the soldier into the wall at then far end of the hall.

Once the water dissipated Laurel moved quickly to cast Incarcerous to make sure they would interrupt her rescue. She then moved further into Level Five and finally managed to find cell 54-PI where Wanda was being held captive.

Laurel pointed her wand at the door and snapped, "Alohomora."

The door let out a satisfying click as it swung open. Inside the room was another cell. Laurel caught Wanda's gaze and saw the relief that flooded into her sage green eyes. She clenched her jaw when she saw the straight jacket and muzzle that restrained Wanda.

Laurel wasted no time in blasting through the door and unlocking the restraints. She pulled Wanda into a tight hug, grateful to feel Wanda in her arms once more. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small ring.

Laurel slipped it back onto Wanda's finger, a glint of mischief in her eyes, "I believe this belongs to you," She said with a smile.

Wanda looked down at the ring and finally relaxed. A weight lifted off her shoulders as the comforting warmth filled her. She leaned in and softly kissed Laurel, the act filled with gratitude and love. The moment was broken by an alarm that rang overhead.

"We need to move. Now!"

Wanda shook out her arms as they stood up, "What about the others?" she asked.

"Steve is getting them," Laurel said, she then pulled out her communication mirror as they walked down the slate gray corridor, "Rogers!" she barked.

When Steve's face appeared in the mirror she spoke, "I've got Wanda. Where should we meet?"

"We're headed to the loading bay. Better hurry, I think they're on to us."

"See you in ten," Laurel said and together the couple rushed through the prison headed for freedom.
