Chapter 13
"Edward, this is your mate, Hermione." Luna sang hugging Hermione who instantly hugged her back and looked like she was going to cry again. "Hermione, your mate is Edward the Cedric Diggory lookalike."
"I'm not in the proper mental state for a relationship, Luna." Hermione informed as she blinked at Draco then grasped his hand in both of her own and shook it. Draco nodded to her and shook her hand back. "I discovered that I was under some powerful love potions and potions to alter my mental state and control me.....OH, MERLIN! PROFESSOR SNAPE!"
Severus grunted as the girl threw herself on him hugging him. He sighed and patted her back awkwardly. She was soon back to sobbing on Harry who was also patting her back and trying to calm her down.
"You cry more than our baby." Jasper sighed.
"Your baby?" Hermione hiccuped. Then smiled wetly when she saw Teddy in Jasper's arms. "Oh, yes, Harry's baby. Hello, Teddy." she laughed a bit. "I'm glad to see that you have him. The laws in the U.K. are becoming really restrictive and he's a born wolf."
"Is he?" Edward took Teddy in his hands and sniffed him. "I don't smell it. He's never smelled like wolf to me."
The other vampires all agreed and Teddy just turned Edward's hair neon pink. Edward returned the runt to Jasper which was exactly what the child wanted.
Hermione giggled and pulled her wand out. She turned Edward's hair back to its normal color and praised Teddy for his magic.
"You must always praise children for their magic use at young ages." Hermione explained. "At least that's my philosophy."
"I agree." Harry told her. "But other than his metamorphic abilities Teddy hasn't really shown any magic. I praise him for his shifting of course." he seemed to think. "Ron was controlling you?"
"Dumbledore." Hermione informed taking the tea from Winkey and thanking her. She sipped it. "But Molly kept me on the potions while dosing me with love potions to make me love Ron. Ron and Ginny were in on it of course. I caught them doing it and talking about it so I got some distance between us and brewed a Purging Potion. I left the U.K. as soon as my mind was clear but I've been in this state ever since."
"You'll regain control eventually." Severus drawled. "I'll run some scans on you. Jasper, take Harry to your room and make him rest."
Harry happily snuggled into Jasper's side while holding the napping Teddy in his arms. He was soon drifting off to sleep himself.
When he woke up it was to a loud bang and a female scream that he knew well. Teddy wasn't in his arms and Jasper was gone so he got up and rushed to the female scream. He found Hermione fighting to close a door. He rushed to help. He recognized the giant leg that was poking out.
"Acromantula?" he asked as Draco and Luna began helping them along with Andy and Severus. "Arania Exumai!" he yelled casting the spell. The leg was blasted into the room and they managed to shut the door. "Seal the damn door!"
Severus and Andy did so.
Hermione sobbed her apologizes saying that she'd just been looking for a room and had come to this one.
Harry glared at her sternly.
"Tell me, oh brilliant one." He pointed at Rune on the door. "What does this rune mean?!"
"Danger. Spider." she whined. "I honestly wasn't paying attention."
Harry rolled his eyes and was suddenly in Jasper's arms. He smiled and snuggled close to him.
Jasper looked worried.
"I'm so sorry!" Hermione sobbed. "Harry's been traumatized by Acromantula in the past and I just triggered it."
"You've been traumatized by gigantic hairy man-eating spiders?" Emmett asked clearly unbelieving.
"Several times. They tried to eat me when I was twelve, then broke my leg and tried to eat me again when I was fourteen." Harry informed. "Then again during the final battle....I don't like them but I'll be fine."
Hermione was shocked when she walked into the library to find Harry and Jasper kissing. Teddy was leading her by the hand. She'd said library then he'd said 'Buk' and led her here.
"HAWWY!"
Just like that Jasper and Harry broke apart and Harry was smiling.
"Hey, Teddy-Bear." he said sweeping him into his arms and spinning him around. He looked at Hermione. "Sorry, but this library is off-limits. There's one you can use but these are Black Family Tomes and Kreacher isn't going to let you touch them."
Hermione was annoyed that Teddy had led her to the library that she couldn't use. Kreacher appeared and she backed out of the room instantly. This seemed to ease the elf's hate of her a bit.
"Kreacher, would you be kind enough to show me the library in the house that I can use?" she asked kindly.
The elf glared at her but led her away. As they walked she wondered how serious Harry and Jasper's relationship was for them to be kissing so intensely. She knew that the Cullens were vampires. She couldn't believe that Harry's soulmate was a vampire. Apparently, hers was as well. She didn't know if she believed it or not but she and Edward hadn't said a word to each other. But back to Harry, she hadn't known that he was gay. He'd been in a relationship with Ginny and had had a crush on Cho. Maybe Harry was bisexual. It didn't really matter to her. But she was shocked. How had Harry been able to hide that from everyone? Were Harry and Jasper raising Teddy as their own? That was great but Harry was so young. Was Harry going back to school? What medical condition did he have? Why did he walk so slowly and like an old person? What were Draco and Luna doing here with Mrs. Tonks? Everyone thought Snape was dead so why was he alive and here? She could tell that he wasn't a vampire. She had so many questions and no answers.
Hermione was a little tense at dinner. She watched Harry feeding Jasper food.
"Uhm....." she spoke up noticing that all the vampires were eating human food.
"Sev, Draco, and I are creating food that Vampires can eat." Harry informed. "It's going well."
"Can I try the soda?" Edward asked.
Draco pushed a can across the table. Edward drank some then apologized after belching.
"Yeah, we're still having issues with the soda." Draco sighed. "Anyway, now that you're here you're going to have to help us with another side project of ours."
"Yes, of course, whatever you need." Hermione said instantly.
She picked up the book but put it down when Kreacher appeared to glare at her. Kreacher opened it to the bookmarked page and she began reading quickly.
"Daywalker Rings? Amazing!" Hermione breathed. "I know that it's considered Dark Magic back home, but I've wanted to look into this since I first heard about it."
"Miss can read the book but better treat it with the respect that it is do." Kreacher stated and vanished again.
Hermione carefully shut the book and ate her dinner before pursuing the book again. She was soon engrossed in the pages.
"We've been trying to...." Draco continued.
"She can't hear you." Harry told Draco. "She's in research mode. She'll come out of it once she's read the entire book. Then she'll want to read everything we have on the subject."
Draco rolled his eyes making Luna giggle and Severus snort softly into his drink.
April 1st was fast approaching and Harry was having to work around Hermione. She'd claimed a room as her study room and it was the room that he'd been planning on making Teddy's playroom. She was so engrossed in whatever books Kreacher was giving her that she didn't notice that he was decorating around her. He didn't care if he upset her but Teddy was always coming into this room to play tea party with his plushies, a.k.a. he drank his juice from his beaker cup, er...sippy cup, and babbled at his plushies. Harry didn't disturb her until he had no choice.
"Hermione, I need you to teach me how to paint the walls with magical paint so that I can make a forest." Harry demanded.
Hermione surfaced from the book and looked around.
"Oh, my reading room is Teddy's playroom, sorry about that. I'll take the one next door then." she got up, marked her page, and pulled her wand out. "Very well, let's begin."
On April 1st Teddy turned a year old and they had a small party for him. They showered him in gifts and his favorite was his tiny little training broom. Hermione let out an annoyed sigh when Teddy had opened it.
"Teddy, come on, it's time for the rest of your gifts." Harry said plucking him off of his broom. "You'll love this, I promise."
"Bwoom!" Teddy cried reaching for it. They entered the playroom. "Twain!"
Thanks to Hermione and Harry's combined efforts there was a ridable Hogwarts Express in the large playroom. The walls were a magical forest that looked like the Forbidden Forest. There was a moving wolf, stag, and Grim in the forest as well as many magical creatures. All moved around. There were toys all over the room but Teddy went right to the train.
Harry was clearly pleased with himself for giving Teddy a perfect first birthday.
