Regulus p.o.v
I went to bed worried not being able to find James anywhere so when I awoke the next morning and saw him laughing with Sirius while they helped Lily pack Dobby, I felt relief but also a pang of guilt and pain. Barty walked over slinging an arm around my shoulder as he noticed me looking at the fire nation prince “So I guess you still haven’t talked.”
I look at him annoyed “Does it look like we talked.”
He let go of me and put his hands up in the air to surrender as he took a step away from me “Someone is cranky this morning.”
“I am always like this.” I bite back.
“Nah, I don’t think so.” Barty shakes his head amused as he straightened the leaves he was wearing. I still didn’t think only a loincloth and some protecting gear were good clothes but the swamp people waved it off when Lily, Dorcas and I offered to get them some clothes yesterday at dinner. “you have a good heart avatar.”
“So will you join us on the journey?” I ask Barty as Evan walked over as well.
“Nah, I am not that big a fan of flying.” He tells me “Just let us know where the fight will happen and we will be there.”
“Are you sure?” I ask them.
“Pretty sure.” Evan smiles “besides Barty is the only one here who knows how to bend the vines, he is still teaching some other waterbenders but they still haven’t got the hang of it.”
“Maybe that is something the swamp only allows Barty to do.” I think out loud.
“perhaps.” Barty grins “But isn’t that the fun of a mystery.”
“So you guys are leaving today then?” Evan asks.
“Yes.” I nod “I need to learn fire bending and I rather not do that in a flammable environment.”
“Is that the only element you still need to master?” Barty asks me.
“My air bending could still use some practise as well, I didn’t finish my training because the circle of elements tells me I should learn firebending before airbending but I twisted the rules a little and tried my hand at airbending.”
“Well some rules are meant to be broken.” Barty grins “You are supposed to learn all the elements, I am sure the order of which you learn them won’t affect your skills and won’t affect the avatar circle as well.”
“Sometimes I wonder if you are really smart of just crazy.”
“A bit of both.” Barty shrugs.
“I think I am going to miss you guys.” I felt my lips tug upward in a soft smile.
“Ah I knew you liked us.” Evan winks.
“Don’t exaggerate, I tolerate you at best.”
“That means we are now best friends.” Barty pulls me in a hug “and friends can hug eachother goodbye.”
I chuckle as Evan joined the hug as well “stay safe you two.”
“You will be in more danger than us.” Evan speaks up “You better stay alive as well.”
“No promises.” I tell them.
“Regulus let’s go.” I hear Dorcas yell for me.
“I will write you.” I wave at my new friends before bidding goodbye to the other swamp tribe members before climbing aboard Dobby and watched them get smaller as we flew away, setting course to Kyoshi island.
