We will not surrender

The fire nations ships had arrived at our harbour, it wouldn’t be long before they let their anchor down and make their way into the town. “Everything is in order.” Molly joins me at the gate “Emmeline and the newbies made sure that everyone who is with them is safely in the tunnels.”
“Those who volunteered to stay behind know the risks.” Marlene speaks up as she ran over as well “Alice and Amelia are at the town square with the townsfolk, they will protect them.”
“Are you girls ready?” I ask my fellow Kyoshi warriors as I watch the ships dock and let out their soldiers. I grab my fans and took my fighting stance as the battalion of fire nation soldiers came closer and closer.
“We are with you.” Molly mimics my stance.
“Till death do us part.” Marlene says.
“I rather not die, thank you very much.” Molly snorts.
“Here they come.” I state as the army reached us, the one who I thought was the leader took a step forward.
“Stand down.” The fire nation commander orders us “I name of fire lord Voldemort I order you to surrender.”
I heard Marlene snort besides me “Lord Voldemort what kind of name is that.”
The Commander look at Marlene with distaste “How dare you make fun of the fire lords name, you will pay for this.”
“Why are you here? We have nothing here.” I speak to the enemy “You took all our earthbenders, we have nothing left for you to take.”
“The thing we want from you is your land.” The fire nation soldier smirks “Your island is the perfect base for our stronghold.”
Everything suddenly clicked as he spoke “You guys are planning to invade the southern airtemple and believe we are an easy target since you guys took all our benders.”
“You are a clever one, aren’t you.” The guy smirks at me.
“We will not surrender.” I tell him.
“If you do not stand down, my army will march down your town and burn everything to the ground, including your people.”
“Mary.” Molly whispers “Don’t do anything stupid.”
“I challenge you to an agni kai.” I tell the commander who started to laugh.
“You are not a fire nation citizen, it doesn’t work that way.”
“Afraid to lose against a girl without bending abilities.” I try to play into his ego “Coward.”
The vein in his head started to throb as a sign he was getting fed up with me “Very well, but even of you defeat me nothing can stop the fire nation from invading this island and just so you know I am not a bender as well.”
“Very well.” I nod “If you win, we will stand down and let you take over the city but you have to promise me not to hurt the villagers but if I win you will retreat so we can evacute the town and leave.”
“All of this for a pair of peasants.” He snorts “You have a kind heart girl, that will get you killed. But I will accept your challenge but just so you know when the fire nation has taken over the whole world there will be no place to hide and you all will belong to the fire nation.”
“Mary are you sure about this?” Marlene asks me looking weary at the commander.
“I know I can’t stop the attack from happening at least this way he will not harm the citizens during their siege.” I tell her before turning to the fire nation commander “I am ready, let’s fight old man.”
