A new ally
James p.o.v
The chief gave me the creeps as he tried to bait Regulus during the meeting. I watched Regulus as he was enjoying his dinner talking to Dorcas and Lily. “You can’t take what the mad eyed guy said to heart.” Sirius sits down next to me after he filled his plate for the second time.
I sigh “I do not, I am just done with everyone making accusations about me or Regulus without knowing us.”
“People can be weary of strangers.” Remus spoke up from next to Sirius “You can’t blame them for being cautious, we live in a time of war and besides you are still related to the fire lord not many people knew you were working to stop the war.”
“Still, it isn’t fair.” I mutter.
“No it isn’t but nothing is fair during War.” Remus slurps his fish soup
“Whose side are you on?” I look at Remus annoyed.
Remus eyed me from above his bowl “James you know I am on your side, I am just saying that I understand where the chief is coming from. The war has a high cost, I understand that they want to stay out of it in order to protect their own. I lost people to this war as well, just like you and I would have done anything in my power to save those I loved including hiding everyone and not mingle in the war if that was an option.”
“I am sorry.” I tell him remembering that he told me all the earth-benders of Kyoshi were rounded up when the war started. I wondered just what the war had cost him, what It had cost many of my friends and others.
“It’s okay, I am not mad at you James.” Remus gives me a smile “ I also understand how frustrated you must feel about everyone making assumptions only because you are a prince of the fire nation”
“Thank you Remus.” I look at the ground ashamed “Sorry for questioning you or lashing out.”
“Stop apologizing, I already said it was okay.” Remus answers
“Prince James.” A voice says from behind me. I turn around to Alastor Moody standing there “I want to apologize for my behaviour earlier, I am sorry for baiting you. Poppy has brought to my attention that I wasn’t the most gracious host. I am just worried about the outcome of this war. I want to protect my people and I never knew what you and your parents did in order to stop this conflict between the nations or what it cost you in the end.”
“Let’s put it behind us, I wasn’t that kind to you as well.” I manage to smile at him “We are allies right.”
“Yes we are.” He replied “Well enjoy your evening”
“Great job man.” Remus puts his thumb up to me. I smiled but out of the corner of my eye I could see Regulus watching me with some sort of admiration or I believe that is the emotion I witnessed on his face.
“Stop staring at my brother.” Sirius makes fake gagging noises “It nauseating.”
“I wasn’t starring.” I defend myself.
“Sure you weren’t.” Sirius rolls his eyes “you know I am not opposed to you crushing on my brother but please refrain on doing it infront of me.”
I blush “I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Sirius snorts “Keep lying to yourself.”
“Sirius stop pestering your friend.” Remus scolds my best friend.
“I am just helping him realize his feelings.” Sirius smirks “nothing more.”
“I think I am going to take a wall.”
