Attack on Kyoshi

“Mary we have a problem.” Marlene comes running towards me as I was helping some of the locals harvest their vegetables. I turn to the blond warrior confused “What is going on Marls.”
“Fire nation.” She breathes out “they are coming, Molly saw them when she was scouting with our new recruits. They have arrived at the other side of the island.”
“That is bad.” I mutter before running off “let’s go assamble the warriors, we have to move quickly.”
“Emmeline is already on that while I retrieved you, they are gathering at the mayors house.” Marlene answers as we sprinted all the way back to the village. To our luck the fields weren’t to far away from the town. We entered the mayor’s house to see all the kyoshi warriors had already arrived. “Status report.” I ask the group.
“a fleet of fire nation ships are coming this way.” Molly starts “I do not know what they want, there are at least five ships that I could see.”
“We can’t defeat an entire fleet.” Amelia sighs “Last time we only won because we still had Remus alongside the avatar and his crew.”
“Don’t despair.” Alice pats her back before looking at me expectedly “I am sure Mary has a plan.”
“Not a good one though.” I ruffle the curls of my hair
“Well a plan is a plan.” Marlene replies “You know I will follow you everywhere right.”
I give her a thankful smile “We are not going to fight them, at least not all of us will.”
“What do you mean?” Chief slughorn asks, as leader of this town he was present as well
“We do not know what they are here for.” I start to explain “So we have to figure out the reason for their arrival. They know we have nothing of importance here and the avatar was last seen in Ba sing Se.”
“That still doesn’t explain your plan.” Amelia crosses her arms over her chest, worrying her bottomlip between her teeth.
“We are going underground.” I tell them and I saw Marlene her eyes lit up at was I was implying.
“Underground?” Tilden one of our newest members asks “What do you mean, we have no earthbenders here.”
“But we had.” I wink at her “You all know the cave we use as a fortress when an attack happens to keep those who can’t fight save. Remus and his late father made a tunnel system beneath the cave that if the town who fall, the people inside had an escape route.”
“You are planning to have people hide out in the tunnels, cause the cave will be found if the fire nation defeat us ” Emmeline her lips tilt upward
“Yes but not everyone.” I look down ashamed “The enemy can’t know about the cave’s secret passage and if the entire town is abandoned they will come looking. So we need people to stay behind as a distraction both Kyoshi warriors and townspeople alike.”
“We can’t force people to stay with incoming danger.” Charity another new recruit speaks up “We can’t ask that of our people.”
“This town is proud, if we give them the choice, I am sure there will be people willing to volunteer. To stay behind” Mayor Slughorn states “Just like I will.”
“I will stay behind as well.” I tell the warriors who had chosen me as their leader. “Emmeline I want you to go below ground with the citizens and our newest members Charity, Tilden and Violet. I will put you in charge and entrust the four of you to keep everyone safe. They nodded determined before I turned to the other kyoshi warriors “I won’t order you to be the decoy, you are free to choose as well.”
“Well no way I am leaving you here alone.” Marlene sling her arm around me “I will have your back.”
“As will I.” Alice pushes herself of the wall she was leaning against.
“You won’t get rid of us that easy.” Amelia smiles as Molly gave me a nod as a sign she was with me.
“Let’s gather the people and get the plan in motion.” I look around the group proudly.
