The Swamp
Remus p.o.v
“Why did we think the Swamp was a good idea again.” Sirius scrunches his nose in disgust as he jumped off from Dobby straight into the mud.
“Because we need friends and allies.” Dorcas jump down next to him purposely splattering him with the mud making Sirius glare at her “besides Lily knows people.”
“I said I know off people living in the swamp.” The airbender corrects her.
“But how do we find them?” I ask “it is not like they will suddenly show up here.”
“We walk.” Lily replies “because of the trees we can’t fly, we won’t see a thing from the sky because of the full-grown plants.”
“I already hate this.” Sirius grumbles losing his balance and falling down in the swampy water with his butt. He groaned shivering “cold, cold cold.”
“Let me warm your butt with my royal fire” James says amused while the other laugh, he created a flame and used it to dry Sirius his buttocks.
“Set his pants on fire.” Dorcas replies “that will make him learn not to complain.”
“I think he already learned his lesson.” I eye Sirius who had stopped shivering because the fire was warming him up. “Stop laughing at my brothers stupidity.” Regulus musses amused.
“you laughed as well.” Dorcas replies
“You can’t prove it.” Regulus says.
“I know my suffering is hilarious.” Sirius says as his pants are dry again thanking James by patting his back “but we landed on these enormous tree roots, how do we walk from here?”
“Using our feet, one feet infront of the other.” Dorcas replies sarcastic.
“You really have it out for me today, haven’t you?” Sirius asks his childhood friend.
“Do you guys hear something?” Lily suddenly speaks up making all of us fall silent. We looked around searching for anything out of the ordinary, straining our ear to listen but everything was silent except for the shrill noises of a few birds, giving the swap an eerie vibe.
“I don’t hear anything.” I say but at that moment a net was thrown over some of us. I reacted quickly by diving out of the way but I lost my balance and fell into the river that flows beneath us. I could hear Sirius call my name before I hit the water. I swam to the surface and tried to look up but the stream had swept me further away from my friends. I tried to swim against the current but it had no use. I managed to hold onto a root sticking out in the river as I tried to use it to climb up the shore but then I saw someone floating in the water not even reacting to the current that decided his course. I reached out my hand and grabbed a hold of the man pulling him towards me saving his from the water. When I manged to get us both out of the water, I could have a good look at the man I just saved. He was covered in leaves and leathers that were used as clothes or at least I think that was the purpose of them. The man started to cough up the water as his eyes shot up wide open. Once he got rid of the water in his lungs he looked at me confused before standing up in a fight stance, swaying on his feet by the lack of energy. “if I was going to hurt you, I wouldn’t have saved you.” I rub my forehead before looking around not recognizing where I was or were I needed to go to save my friends. I curse under my breath before looking at the man infront of me “You own me because I saved your life and I guess it was you and your people who attacked my group, so it is only fair to bring me to them.”
“I am not going to lead you straight in our camp.” The male hissed looking distrusting.
“Listen to me, your people just captured the avatar and if you want the world to be peaceful again, you will bring me to them and tell your people to let us go. “
The male hesitated but stood up straight lowering his arms “I will bring you to my people but if this turns out to be a lie, I will end your life.” I nodded in agreement “good I am Evan just so you know I had it handled, you didn’t need to help me.”
I snort but kept my mouth shut.
