Chapter 13; Spetember 6th, 1974
“God dammit. This shits so fucking stupid I wanna fucking die.” Sirius said under his breath, staring at his arithmancy homework.
“Morning padfoot.”
“James go suck a dick.”
“Bad day. Noted.”
He walked into the bathroom and leaned against the counter.
“Who the fuck- oh. It's you. Good morning.” Remus said, poking his head out the shower curtain.
“Sorry.” Sirius whispered, his voice scratchy. “Didn't hear the water.”
“Silencing spell. You alright?”
“No im not fucking alright Moony.” He shot back, sitting down on the floor and putting his hair up with his wand.
“Oh. I'm sorry. Anything I can do?” Remus turned off the water and wrapped a towel around his waist.
“Unless you know a way to get rid of homework and math and lessons then no.”
Remus shook his head and grabbed his wand, sitting down next to him.
“I'll go get your robes and school stuff out so you don’t have to?” He kissed the top of his head and started putting his clothes on.
“Remus you don't have to.” Sirius whispered.
“Shut up. Yes I do. Headache? I can get you a pain potion or something.” Remus poked Sirius’ stomach lightly. Sirius nodded, looking away.
“You’d make a great boyfriend. Whoever ends up with you is lucky.”
He knew what he wanted Remus to say, but he also knew it wasn't going to happen, he wasn't gonna get his hopes up.
“What do you mean?”
“Whoever you end up with. When you go get yourself an actual girlfriend or boyfriend. They're lucky. You’re amazing.”
“Sirius, what if I want you to be that person.”
“Remus this is the most unromantic situation ever and this is when you decide to ask?” He laughed.
Remus smiled. “Would you rather me ask in front of the whole school at dinner?”
“No, the bathrooms fine.”
“Good. Sirius, do you wanna be my boyfriend… Wait, is that weird? Can we be more than friends with benefits?”
“Yes. I'll be your boyfriend.”
“Sorry. I didn't know if you…” He trailed off.
“It's fine. I know what you meant.”
Remus was amazing, the best guy anyone could ask for.
“I'll go grab your stuff now. Do you need anything else?” Remus asked as he walked out of the bathroom.
“No, I'm alright. Thanks though.”
Remus left the room and Sirius locked the door behind him. He has a boyfriend now. Sirius Black has a boyfriend. And out of everyone, he got the boy that all of the girls are obsessed with, the hottest guy in the year, Remus fucking Lupin. He smiled to himself before getting up.
He took his wand out of his hair and brushed through it, fluffing out his curls.
“Which one of you bitches took his tie?” Remus said loudly. James was standing by his wardrobe, and Peter was sitting on his bed.
“Moony, we didn't touch it. Calm down.” Peter mumbled quietly.
“Moony, he's right, what's going on.” James chimed in, grabbing his robes off the hanger.
“Nothing, I'm fine. I just. I have to make sure he's okay. And I can't do anything to help and and he-”
“Moons.” Sirius cut him off, walking towards him.
“Sorry.”
“You took my tie, remember?” He grabbed his tie off of Remus’ bed and held it up.
“I thought that one was mine?” He sat down on Sirius’ bed, putting the potion on the table next to him.
“Your ties have ‘Traitor’ magically embroidered on the back too?” Sirius laughed, setting the tie down on his bed.
“No. I didn't check the back…” He trailed off, looking away.
“It's fine. I'm not mad. I’ll go change then we can go down to breakfast, yeah? You’ve done more than you had to already, okay? I’m not gonna get mad over a stupid fucking tie.” Sirius smiled, walking towards him.
Remus hugged him tightly, pulling Sirius closer to the bed than he was.
“I'm sorry.” Remus whispered, hugging him tighter.
Sirius ran his hands through the other boy's hair, it was still wet from the shower and his curls were starting to tangle together. “Headache?” He asked softly.
“Mhmm.” Remus mumbled, not moving.
“I gotta go change, you have to let me go.” He laughed, pushing Remus’ arms off of his waist.
He changed quickly and sat back down next to Remus. Remus leaned over and put his head on Sirius’ shoulder while they waited for James and Peter to get ready.
“I don't want to deal with people today.” Remus mumbled sleepily.
“Me neither. Wanna bunk off classes? We could go sit by the lake or something.” Sirius smiled, playing with the hem of his sleeve.
“Mm. Maybe. Herbology first. I’ll see how I feel after.” He paused and sat up, watching as Peter walked into the bathroom after James was out. “Do you need anything else?”
“I'm fine. It's not that bad right now, I'm just uncomfortable and pissy.” Sirius laughed, looking over at James.
“I'm so confused.” James said under his breath, grabbing his bookbag.
“Remus is making this a bigger deal than it is. He's being dramatic.” Sirius responded, hitting Remus on the arm.
“I'm not being dramatic, fucktard I'm making sure you're okay.” He shot back, crossing his arms.
“I'm fine. Been dealing with this since last year. I just don’t like homework. It's fine.”
Remus nodded slowly.
“Anyways…Breakfast?” James asked, breaking the silence.
The other 3 boys nodded and they left the room, walking down to the great hall.
“Morning.” Mary mumbled from the couch in the common room as they walked past.
“Morning.” Remus replied, waving slightly.
They sat down in their normal spot in the great hall, Remus handing Sirius a chocolate muffin before grabbing his own food.
“Moony, I'm not hungry right now.”
“You’ll feel better. We’ve been over this.”
Sirius ate the muffin slowly, picking at the top layer, just until it got crumbly. If he started eating a lot again he’d start overeating and he’d only feel worse about himself. He just has to find a way to get Remus off his arse about it, and Remus isn’t the type to give up easily. He reached across the table and grabbed the cigarettes out of Remus’ pocket and got up. He needed a smoke. Needed to be away from people.
“I need to be alone for a bit. See you in herbology.” He whispered to James before leaving the hall.
He sat down against a wall facing the lake when he got outside, staring at the water while he smoked. The way the water moved from the wind and the sun reflected off of the top layer calmed him. It was like the fountain back at grimmauld place. Watching the water was the only way to get away. The only way to shut her up. The only time he was ever truly alone in that house.
