Chapter 5; September 2nd, 1974

It was around 7:30 now. Sirius was so drunk he couldn't stand, Remus was close to that point, doing anything he could to get someone to get him high.

James made Peter go down to the kitchens to get them food and wouldn't let them leave the common room. People were starting to show up for the party now, one of the prefect boys standing outside the portrait to let people in.

James had dragged the two boys up to their dorm room, Sirius tripping over almost every step.

“James. Just let me enjoy the party.” Sirius slurred out a whine, looking over at Lupin, who was still a mess, just a little more drunk than before.

“No more alcohol. For either of you. Remus that includes any type of drug. Understood?” James said sternly, looking back and forth between the boys he had somehow claimed as his friends.

“Yes mother” Sirius laughed, eyes squinting, Remus punched him on the arm slightly.

“Change and meet me back downstairs. People are gonna be here soon.” James yelled as he left the room, leaving Sirius and Remus alone together.

Sirius walked over to him and placed himself between his legs, leaning forward til their noses were touching.

“You're pretty when you've been crying.” He whispered, playing with Remus’ tie, his eyes stayed down.

“Sirius, stop. I know what you're doing. It's not gonna work this time.” Remus said, pushing him away. Sirius stumbled back more than he normally would whether it was out of fear or shock was anyone’s guess, falling onto James’ bed.

Remus got up and grabbed a pair of jeans and a button shirt from his wardrobe, walking into the bathroom.

“What youre so pissed you cant even fucking change in front of me anymore?” Sirius yelled, slurring more than Meer seconds ago

“I never said you couldn't come in here. I just don't want anyone else walking in.” Remus responded apologetically, still clearly angry.

Sirius smiled without realizing it and grabbed his own pair of jeans, a white shirt, and his leather jacket, walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind him.

Remus was twisting in the mirror, looking at the scars that littered his torso.

“You're pretty. Really really fucking pretty.” Sirius whispered, admiring the boy standing in front of him. His pupils dilated.

“Not as pretty as you.” he mumbled back, barely loud enough for him to hear.

Sirius felt his heart skip as the butterflies he hadn't felt all summer come back, stronger than they ever have been.

Sirius took his sweater off and grabbed his belt out of the pile of clothes he had, sucking in and putting it on one of the tightest settings.

“Sirius.” Remus said, no louder than a whisper, but still loud enough to scare him.

“Hm?” He responded, leaning back into the wall, hoping to melt through it and never come back out.

“Looser. You're gonna bruise your ribs.” He looked over at him, buttoning his shirt, leaving the top 3 buttons undone. His voice sweetened ever so slightly.

Sirius shook his head, looking away. Remus just didn’t get it.

Remus grabbed his arm and loosened it to the fifth setting before walking out of the bathroom.

Sirius listened as his footsteps faded and the door to the dorm room slammed. Maybe he wasn't as mad as Sirius thought. He held onto that hope.

He finished changing quickly and rushed downstairs, bumping into quite a few walls that he could've sworn weren't there this morning.

The common room was filled with people. Most of them are Gryffindors with some Hufflepuffs scattered in the crowd. Sirius glanced around, trying to find his friends, instead he caught the eyes of the three people he wished weren’t there. The only three Slytherins at the party. His cousins and his little brother.

He tried to look away and go the opposite direction, but bumped into a table that again, he could've sworn wasnt there a few seconds ago.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to find Narcissa, Bellatrix and Regulus not far behind her.

“Sirius youre shit faced.” Narcissa said quietly and quickly, a look of concern in her eyes.

“I'm fine Cissa. I haven't had that much to drink.” He slurred, holding onto the table for support.

“You're clearly not fine. Regulus, go find James before your brother gets the chance to black out and do something stupid.” Narcissa half yelled, not looking away from Sirius.

Sirius got dizzy and stumbled back slightly, glazing at Bellatrix to find the same worried look his friends gave him the day before.

James and Regulus came back a few seconds later.

“I told you drinking at 2 wouldn't be a good idea.” James rolled his eyes, putting an arm around Sirius and helping him balance.

“Now that you're here, i'm gonna go find my future husband.” Bella said excitedly looking at the group.

“Bella, you're already married.” The three Blacks said in sync. She rolled her eyes.

“Fine. Im gonna go find a guy to fuck.” She smiled, Sirius had forgotten how insane she could look when she smiled like that. She ran off in the opposite direction.

“Cissa” Sirius mumbled quietly.

“What's up?” She responded, in a tone she rarely used. Her voice was soft. She cared.

“Can you come over and be with my friends and i? I don't feel great and dont wanna make them deal with me like this.” He looked at the ground, pushing James’ arm off of him.

“Yeah. I’ll get you something to eat too. Should help you hold it down longer.” She kept the soft caring tone, ruffling up his hair and walking away.

He followed James over to the couches where his friends were, Regulus following them, partially not wanting to draw attention to himself and partially making sure Sirius didn't pass out.

He looked around at his friends when he got there. Lily, James, Peter, Marlene, Mary, and Regulus. Where the fuck was Remus.

Narcissa came back, handing Sirius a cupcake and sitting on the arm of the couch next to him.

“Who you looking for?” She asked him, taking a sip of her drink.

“Lupin.” He mumbled, still looking around.

Bellatrix was flirting with the Gryffindor Quidditch captain, Sirius could never remember his name when he was sober, let alone right now. But he didnt see Remus anywhere.

“Over there” Narcissa pointed to the far side of the room. “Snogging some Huffelpuff girl.” She laughed, looking back at Sirius.

He doesn't know if she saw his face drop, but she turned his attention onto the chess match between Peter and Lily. Sirius tried to focus on the match, but couldn't stop thinking about Remus.

He looked back over to where they were and saw her grab his hand and pull him towards the stairs, going up to the boys dorms.

“Fucking asshole.” He said under his breath, standing up.

Narcissa stood up and pushed him back down onto the chair.

“Sit your ass down. Hes allowed to go fuck a girl. Not like they're gonna be on your bed or anything. Lupins smarter than that.” She yelled over the music, her hands still on his shoulders.

If Remus was even as close to as angry as he was earlier, the poor girl wont be able to walk straight for a week. Sirius almost felt bad for her. Almost. Then he remembered Remus was the one fucking her. Remus was fucking a girl. On the same bed he had fucked Sirius on the night before. That moment there, was the first time he was ever glad that Narcissa was there to hold him back.
