Chapter 1
-Regulus-
I hate my life. The constant bickering in letters from home, the irritating people at the university, of course, I don't hate everyone at university. There are a few people I call “friends”, such as Barty, Evan, Dorcas, and Pandora. But even then, sometimes they get on my nerves. The only good thing about my life is theatre. Yes, theatre, the lights, the costumes, the props, the set.
Everything there is just astonishing. I pace around the set, wondering which play we’re going to do next.
“Regulus?” someone says from behind the stage. I turn around and see Barty.
“Oh, hello,” I say, walking over towards him, “What’re you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in English with Mcgonagall?”
“Yeah, but so’re you so you can’t be talking,” he says with a grin. I smile back and give him a slight shove, and he laughs it off. Just then, Professor Slughorn walks into the theatre.
“What are you boys doing here?” he asks with a slight tone of annoyance in his voice, “You know that theatre doesn't start until after classes are over.” he walks back towards the door where he came in and points at it, “Out, before I have to give out detentions,” he shot. Barty and I ran out of the room and sprinted to science.
-James-
“Truth or dare?” I ask Sirius, as we are currently playing truth or dare in the dorm room.
“Erm… dare,” he responds.
“Alright, go let the girls curl your hair,” I say with a smirk.
“WHAT! NOT MY HAIR!”
“It’s a dare, you have to do it!”
“Not now, nor ever would I let them curl my hair!”
“Fine, then pick truth Sirius!”
“Alright, I pick truth!”
“Why don't you tell us who you fancy then?” I chuckle, knowing that I’m always certain that trick will work.
“Uh…” he says with a distressed facial expression, “WHO WANTS TO CURL MY HAIR?” he screams aloud. 20 minutes later, he walks back into the dorm with the most luscious curls in his hair, you’d think he’d be a supermodel, and Remus can’t stop staring at him.
“You alright Remu?” I ask, while I finally gain his attention.
“Yeah!” he says quickly while blushing, “it’s just hot indoors… we should go outside!”
“Okay…” I say, uncertainty
“Why don't we finish our game in the courtyard? We all have a free period.” Peter speaks up and asks.
“Sure Pete, that's a great idea,” Sirius says sarcastically, “And then when everyone comes out of class, they can laugh at my stupid curly hair.”
“Don't be such a drama queen Sirius,” Remus says, “It'll be fine.”
“Fine then I guess…” Sirius mumbles.
“Let's go!” I say happily.
-Regulus-
“You’re both late,” Mcgonagall says with a frown on his face.
“Sorry sir,” I say, “We met up with Professor Slughorn.”
“It’s alright, just don't let it happen again.” he says as we walk over to our seats “Wow, the famous Regulus Black telling his first lie?” Barty says with a slight smirk forming on his face.
“Oh shut it you git, and that wasn’t technically even a lie.” I shoot back. The lesson goes on for what seems to be hours, when the bell finally rings. Barty and I shoot up out of our seats and run out the door. We were running through the hallway until we ran into someone.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going you bi-, oh, it's you two.”
“Evan! Just who we were looking for!” Barty says as he helps his boyfriend up and gives him a peck on the cheek, “We have theatre today, are you coming?”
“Yeah,” Evan replies with a smile, “and I’m really excited for it too.” It only takes a few minutes for us to get to the theatre and by the time we’re there, most of the people are there already. It's only a few of us, Me, Barty, Evan, Pandora, Dorcas, Narcissa, Bellatrix, Lucius, and Snape, and a couple others I didn't know. Slughorn walks into the room a couple of minutes later, and explains what play we’ll be doing this year.
“Good afternoon everyone,” Slughorn says with a smile on his face, “yes, yes… I’m glad to see you all here this afternoon! Now, let's get down to business, first off the play, I’m very excited to announce that the play we will be doing this year…”
We all are on the edge of our seats.
“Is…”
Barty nearly falls off of his chair.
“The tale of Achilles and Patroclus!”
We all gape at him.
“REALLY?” Snape yells
“Yes, Severus now quiet down, if you don’t like it you’re always welcome to leave,” Slughorn snapped at him. For the first time in his life, Severus Snape didn't talk back.
“Now to business, we need a stage crew and actors. Who wants to be stage crew?” Slughorn asked. Several hands shot up almost immediately. Slughorn called on some people that I didn't know and sent them backstage to go look at the equipment.
“Right now we are going to need to host auditions, and I will make sure that every one of you who is left will get a part in the production, I promise.” Slughorn announced.
I looked around to see who was left, Barty, Evan, Pandora, Dorcas, Snape, Lucius, Bellatrix, Narcissa, and me.
“I wonder who I’m going to get in the play,” Pandora whispered to me, “Yeah me too,” I whispered back.
-James-
When we arrive in the courtyard, university is almost over. Sirius, Remus, Peter, and I all sit down on the grass, while we continue our game. It goes on for a couple of rounds, and then it's Sirius’ turn.
“James,” he says, “truth or dare?”
“Hmm… dare” I reply.
“Alright, I dare you to try out for the play.”
“What?!” I exclaim, “I don't even know how to act!”
“How do you, of all people know about the play Sirius?” Remus asks.
“Well, plays are all about drama, and I am pretty dramatic,” Sirius says while earning a laugh from Peter.
“No really,” Remus says, “how do you know about it? Regulus said that Slughorn wasn’t gonna say anything until this afternoon.”
“Well, I saw Evan and Pandora hanging up some posters about how there was gonna be a play, and the posters didn't say anything about what play it was gonna be, so I thought it would be funny if James tried out for the play.” Sirius replied.
“Ohh… alright,” Remus says, “James its a dare so you have to do it.”
“Fine,” I replied grudgingly, “but only because I made Sirius curl his hair.” Then the bell rang and we got up and went our separate ways. Remus went to the library, Peter went to chess club, and Sirius and I went to Rugby practice. As Sirius and I walked to the boys locker room to get changed, we almost got knocked over by Regulus and Barty sprinting down the hallway.
“Wonder what that was about,” I say, as Sirius and I keep walking towards the locker room. When we got to the locker room we started to get changed and ready for practice.
“Mate, there's something I need to tell you,” Sirius says as we’re getting changed, “and you can't tell anyone.”
“What's up?” I ask curiously
“I think I fancy Remus,” My mouth dropped open. I would've never guessed that Sirius fancied anyone, let alone Remus Lupin.
“Mate, I think he fancies you too,” I say, as I see the look of surprise on his face, “did you see the way he looked at you when you came out of the girls room with curly hair?”
“No, why?”
“He was in pure awe.”
“No he wasn’t.”
“Yes he was.”
“Was he really?”
“Yes! Sirius he fancies you and you fancy him! Just tell him how you feel!” I exclaim.
“Tell who what?” A voice says from the doorway.
Remus. Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap. Just then Sirius walks up to him, grabs his hand and pulls him away while saying, ‘we need to talk.’
