Chapter 1

Hermione sat on her couch, little Teddy wrapped in her arms. It's been three years since the final battle. Three years since Tonk's went back to Andy's house to pack Teddy's things and give him to her. It's been three years since she became a mother. Slowly, she ran her fingers through the sleeping boys hair. It's one of the things he liked her doing while he slept, playing with his hair. It's been two years since Teddy called her mom. It's been one full year since Harry has talked to her at all. She wasn't surprised to be honest. They didn't want to hang out with her. They didn't really like her at all; but even less so now that she had Teddy. She didn't mind too much, however, considering Teddy was the best thing to ever happen to her.

"Mom?" He whispered groggily.

"What Teddy-Bear?" She whispered, pressing a kiss to his hair and hugging him tightly.

"I had a weird dream." He mumbled.

"What about?"

"I had a dream that daddy came back. They he's in a hospital, but it wasn't like mungo's." He explained.

Hermione furrowed her brow. Trying to think this through. Teddy has an active imagination, it's something she nurtures with stories, books, and games. "What else can you tell me buddy?"

He pulled away to look at her properly. His brows furrowed as he concentrated. "There was a man, he was dressed in robes. But there was another man, he was laying in a bed next to daddy. He had black hair. He was awake though. He looked right at daddy and kept calling him moony."

"What else can you tell me about the other man?" Hermione asked, something in her stomach tightening.

"He had grey eyes."

Hermione nodded her head, trying to keep a calm smile in place. "It sounds like a crazy dream." She said, kissing his forehead gently.

Slowly, he rested his head back on her chest and went back to sleep. When she was sure she wouldn't wake him, she stood and placed him in his bed, leaving the door cracked incase he needed her, before rushing over to her parchment. She scribbled a quick note to one of her unspeakable friends, and sending it off with Athena. Teddy's had dreams of his father before, but nothing like this. Nothing that could be this vivid and clear.

She got a reply two hours later.

Miss. Granger,

We were going to contact you tomorrow morning, but since your note we feel like it's best if you come now. Young Teddy is more than welcome to join you, we have healer from Mungo's who can sit with him while we talk.

Sincerely,

Padma Patain of DOM

Hermione hurried back to Teddy's room shaking him awake gently. "Teddy. Teddy, love, wake up."

"Mom?"

"Come on, Buddy. We have to go somewhere real quick." She explained, gathering him in her arms and placing his head to rest gently on her shoulder.

Wrapping a throw blanket around him from the end of his bed, Hermione made her way into the living room. Grabbing her beaded bag, she threw floo powder into the fire place, calling out for the Ministry of Magic, before stepping through.

She vanished the soot from their clothes and hair, before making her way towards the lifts. She adjusted Teddy before grabbing ahold of the rope above her. With a jerk they were off. She heard Teddy mumbling sleepily into her shoulder, but didn't stir much other than the occasional jerk from the lift. When they arrived, Padma was there to greet her with a smile.

"It's good to see you, Mione." She said, reaching her hand out and grabbing onto hers. "And little Teddy of course."

Hermione smiled. "It's good to see you too. I would do more pleasantries, but I have a feeling we will be seeing each other more frequently than we do already."

Padma gave a soft smile, nodding slightly. "Let's hand Teddy over to our healer friend, and I'll catch you up."

Hermione followed Padma through the winding rooms in the DOM, until they stopped before another friend. "Hello, Luna." Hermione grinned.

"Hello Mione." She replied with a dreamy smile.

Hermione slowly handed Teddy over, pressing a kiss to his head and thanking Luna, before focusing on Padma. "Start from the beginning."

With a nod, Padma lead Hermione down the hall, explaining from the beginning as she had asked. "I've been working on the veil, as you know. I've been studying it and testing it. I tried these new enchantments that I had been working on, when a few hours later two people quiet literally roll out of it." She paused, looking over at Hermione. She knew her words were going to hurt her. "Remus Lupin and Sirius Black are alive."

Hermione stopped mid-step, staring at her friend. "They're alive?"

Padma nodded. Hermione's mind whirled as she processed what exactly she was saying. She knew what this would mean, for her, and for Teddy. So she took a deep breath, gathered her courage and strength, and nodded at Padma to continue. "We've had healers watching them for the past three days to make sure there wasn't anything abnormal about them. There's no lasting side effects. Nothing. However, they were able to retain some of the important pieces from when they were dead."

"Like what?" Hermione whispered, as they stopped in front of a door. She knew they were behind that door.

"Sirius knows Harry, Ron, and Ginny abandoned you." She paused for a moment. "Remus knows Tonks left. Remus knows that you adopted Teddy. That he thinks of you as his mother, even though you tell stories of both him and Tonks."

Hermione sucked in a sharp breath. "I don't know what I'm going to do about Teddy. But what am I supposed to do?"

Padma placed a hand on her friends shoulder. "You take this one day at a time. Besides, you have a spare room he can stay in. He'll need to be monitored once we've deemed them able to leave. We're reach out to Harry in a few days." She gave her friend a look, and Hermione nodded in gratitude. Taking another breath, she nodded towards the door. Padma flicked her wand, releasing the locking charms over the door before guiding her inside.

Hermione was greeted with golden eyes, along with gray eyes. She smiled tearfully at them, overjoyed that they're alive and breathing. She rushed over to Sirius first, giving him a hug and checking him over. He laughed at her mother henning, which she rolled her eyes about.

"I'll have you know, I basically raised Harry and Ron. Plus, I am a mum. It's my job to mother hen." She shot back, grinning down at him. Only to wince once she realized what she had said, and slowly turned to Remus; who was watching on with a fond smile, eyes still glowing gold.

"Hermione, there is no need to be upset by the fact that you are Teddy's mum. You have raised him, and he has dubbed you the title. You adopted him. He is your son." Remus reassured.

"I still don't want to offend you." She said shyly.

Remus shook his head, reaching a hand out to her. Sirius nudged her and she got up from her spot on his cot to move to Remus's. She took his hand sitting beside him on the cot and smiling gently. "We will figure out what to do, I promise. I'm not going to take him from you."

She smiled, relief obvious in her features, as she leaned down and hugged Remus. Tears slipping from her eyes, for a few seconds before she gathered herself once more. "Alright, tell me what you know." She told the two men, sitting up and wiping at her eyes.

"First, where is Teddy?" Remus asked.

"He's asleep with Luna down the hall." She told him, smiling gently. "He had a dream about you two being here. It wasn't like his other dreams about you, so I knew something was off. I wrote to Padma and here we are."

He nodded, with a quick glance at Sirius the two of them slowly told her about the things they knew.

"We know about you are you 'friends'." Sirius said.

"We know about Tonks running off. She's currently in Italy, by the way." Remus hissed.

"We know that you let Andy babysit during the day while you work."

"We know that you are Teddy's mother."

"We know Molly's treatment towards you."

"We also know about all the revisions you did on behalf of Dobby and I."

Hermione blushed, but nodded. Slowly, she began to catch them up. She mainly stuck to her work and Teddy. Remus absorbed all the information she gave them on their son. His son.

"Can we see Teddy?" Sirius asked, shooting a look at Remus but focusing on Hermione.

Hermione's smile strained for a moment, but nodded. "As long as he's awake. If he's asleep we'll be back first thing in the morning."

She tried to keep her pace slow, but she couldn't help speeding up to get to Teddy. She couldn't help the nerves, even though Padma and Remus have already reassured her, she knew she would have to distance herself to give Teddy and Remus the proper amount of time to get to know each other. As she made her way down the hall, she spotted Luna talking softly to Teddy, who's hair had morphed into Luna's platinum blonde. She knew he was awake.

She rubbed his back gently, smiling as he turned his head to look up at her. "Mom?"

"Hi, buddy. I gotta show you something, think you're up for it?"

He nodded, leaning away from Luna and holding his arms out for her to pick him up. Hermione smiled scooping him into her arms, and thanking Luna softly, before moving back down the hallway.

"Mom, what's going on?" He asked softly.

Hermione was silent for a moment, stopping in front of the door and holding her son. "What would you do, if your daddy came back to you?" She asked gently.

Teddy leaned back to look at her. "Is this about my dream?" When she nodded, Teddy continued. "I'd be happy. You and daddy could raise me together. Like Jamies mum and dad."

Hermione's smile strained again. "I don't think your daddy and I would be like Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry. But, buddy, you're dream was real. Your daddy and Uncle Padfoot are alive."

He was quiet for a moment, a frown appeared on his face. "Does that mean you wouldn't be my mom? That I would have to stay with Daddy all the time now?"

Hermione shook her head. "No, Teddy-Bear. I will always be your mom. You are my son. Mine. Your daddy and I will figure something out, but do not doubt that I am not giving you up." He nodded his little head before burying it back in her shoulder. "Ready to go see them?" She asked gently. After a moments hesitation, he nodded.

Padma, who had stepped out to check on her, opened the door for the both of them. Teddy didn't move his face from her shoulder, his hands clutching at her shirt. Hermione watched as Remus's eyes widened upon seeing the little boy in her arms. Sirius grinned, but Hermione could tell that something was bothering the two men sprawled out on cots.

"Say hi, Teddy." Hermione urged gently. Teddy turned his head enough to peek out at them, waving slowly. He didn't say anything, he remained where he was, clutching to Hermione. She moved and sat beside Remus again. "Teddy, this is your daddy. Remus, this is Teddy." She introduced, feeling a little lame after she said it.

"You know, Remus and Sirius are going to need to be monitored once we release them. Kingsley is handling the paperwork to make sure Sirius is officially free. I'm assuming Sirius is most likely going to want to be with Harry. You do have that spare bedroom in your house, Mione. You can make sure he's not getting sick and keep an eye out for any side effects. He'll stay close to Teddy, while you two figure out how to co-parent." Padma suggested gently.

Hermione looked at Remus. "I was gonna offer it anyways." She told him.

He hesitated, looking first at Teddy, before settling on Hermione. He studied her, and she forced a calm smile onto her face. Remus nodded slowly, reaching his hand out slowly and wiping away a stray tear from her cheek. Her cheeks brightened, but continued to smile. Only from Teddy to swoop in and whack his arm away.

"My mom." He cried.

She stifled a laugh (Sirius had not such trouble), and gently reprimanded him. Remus only grinned. "Your mom and I aren't just sharing you, Teddy. You'll have to share your mum with me too."

Teddy, who had been glaring at him for touching his mom, furrowed his brows in confusion. "Why?"

When he answer Teddy's question, he was looking at Hermione. "All in due time."
