Chapter 2
Teddy and Hermione left not long after Remus made that declaration. Hermione could still hear Sirius laughing as she carried Teddy out. They came back the next day, after sleeping in and sending a notice to her boss saying she wouldn’t be coming in. Teddy clung to her, she tried to sit him down next to her on the edge of Remus’s bed. Only for him to cry out and crawl back into her lap. She shot Remus apologetic looks, and tried to get Teddy to engage with Remus. He only nodded his head yes or no, to any of the question he or Sirius threw at him. Sirius tried to get the little guy to try walk over to him, that heard a screeched out ‘no’ before Teddy buried his face in Hermione’s shoulder. They came back the following day, but refused to go when Harry was there. Hermione sighed, she didn’t understand why Harry would distance himself from her, since she had his godson. But, she would never know I guess.

Harry eagerly followed Padama towards the room that housed his Godfather. He could barely believe it.
“Go easy on him, Harry. His strength isn’t what it was at the moment.” She told him, trying to remain professional, but wanting to strangle him for siding with Ron and Ginny.
Harry nodded his head, and waited to be let in, and promptly burst into tears at the sight of Sirius.
”Sirius.” He breathed, rushing over and hugging him gently, crying into his shoulder. Sirius wrapped his arms around his godson, and squeezed as hard as he could. Remus watched on, holding back the growl building in his chest, and trying to keep Moony in check.
“It’s good to see you, pup.” Sirius whispered.
“Hi, Remus.” Harry said, waving over towards the father of his godson.
”Harry.” He greeted with a small smile.
“How is this possible?” Harry asked.
”We’re not sure. Padma isn’t too sure either.” Sirius said.
”Have you seen Teddy yet?” Harry asked Remus.
Remus nodded. “He and Hermione were here a couple days ago.”
Harry nodded, smiling softly. “He’s so big now. It’s crazy.”
”You would know.” Remus said, a sharp smile appearing on his lips, as his eyes flashed gold for a moment.
Harry shrugged. “Yeah. He’s huge now.”
”Harry,” Sirius directed his attention towards him, “we know you haven’t been in touch with Teddy for at least a year.”
Harry froze, and shook his head. “No, I saw him a month ago.”
Sirius and Remus shook their heads at him. “No, you didn’t. And not only have you neglected Teddy, but Hermione as well.” Remus hissed.
Harry shook his head. “No. We met up last month.”
”It might be the fact that whenever you made plans to go visit Hermione, Ron would intervene.” Remus hissed.
Harry started to shake his head, but paused. He thought over Remus’s words. Because that was true. Every time he told Ginny and Ron he was planning to stop by and spend time with Teddy, Ron would plan a big get-together. Every time.
“Why would Ron do such a thing?” Harry asked.
”Because he can’t handle the fact that Hermione had her life. She had Teddy. He knew you would help take care of Teddy when Hermione had something big going on. How you three would spend the evening talking about Teddy, or work. He couldn’t handle that you weren’t just his. He had to share. Ginny, though she wasn’t apart of it, didn’t help matters by explaining to Ron that that wasn’t fair.” Sirius explained gently.
Harry sighed. “Ron’s not like that. He knows Teddy is important to me. He wouldn’t keep me from him.”
”Harry, you told Ron you didn’t want to be an Auror. How did he handle it?”
Harry tensed, but studied Sirius. “Not well. He called me an idiot for not wanting that since we’d been talking about it since we were third years.”
”What did Hermione say?” Remus asked.
Harry paused, but they could see realization dawning on his face. “She just asked what I was thinking on going into. When I told her teaching, she gave me books on lesson plans and basic teaching books, so I could have a basic understanding of what to do.”
”When Tonks gave up Teddy, what did Ron say?”
“He complained that the baby would ruin the events we had to go to.”
”And Hermione?”
”She took to motherhood like a fish to water.” Harry laughed. “She had a little bit of trouble at the ministry events, but mainly trying to keep the press away from him. I had to threaten a few of them to back off more than once.” A sad frown appeared on his face. “Hermione was always there for me. Ron would run away when it got hard, or he was jealous; but would come back for the glory. I’m a horrible friend.” He whispered.
Sirius squeezed his shoulder, pulling him back down into a hug. Remus, who had calmed down by now, sighed sadly.
”You need to talk to her. Today.” He told Harry. “She said she wasn’t working this week, since she’s prepping her guest room for me to stay in.”
Harry nodded against Sirius’s shoulder, before pulling away. “I’ll go see her later. When do you guys get out of here?”
”In a week at least.” Remus said with a smile. “I gotta get Teddy to actually talk to me.”
”What do you mean?”
Remus smiled sadly. “Teddy’s afraid that since I’m his dad, and I’m back, I’ll take him from Hermione. He’s terrified to talk to me, or Sirius. He refused to leave his mums lap.”
Harry nodded in understanding. “It probably has something to do with the attack a couple years ago.”
Sirius and Remus perked up at that. They did not remember that significant detail.
“Explain.” Remus demanded.
”The Lestrange Brothers found Hermione and Teddy shopping when two years ago. Teddy was about two. They tried to kidnap them, tried to separate them in Diagon. Hermione lost it. She was injured at some point. She apparated to Mungo’s with Teddy. The second Teddy had been passed off to a nurse, she collapsed. Teddy refused to leave her side. Even after she left the hospital, and Andy tried to take Teddy while Ginny and I helped Hermione recover, he just cried until she brought him back. Andy stayed to help out with them both after the third try and keeping Teddy at her place. He’s been clingy towards her ever since. They couldn’t leave the house for months because Teddy would freak out.”
Remus and Sirius both looked at Harry like he grew another head. It made so much sense now. Slowly, Harry directed the conversation away from Teddy and Hermione and towards himself. They caught up, and worked out on where they would put Sirius once he moved in with Harry and Ginny, before Harry was kicked out by Padma. Harry gathered his courage, and apparated to Hermione’s house.
