That Green Gentleman
He wore a little vest
A fancy green one
With tiny pockets
And a little chain –
He had a tiny bowler hat, too,
Black, it was,
With a little white flower on the side
That little green gentleman.
Green himself
With long legs
And webbed toes
He ate flies and waterbugs
That little hungry gentleman
Swam within the water
And sat upon a lily pad
With perfect posture,
And his long legs crossed, just so
That little fancy gentleman…
After his little dip,
He decided to go home
To his little toad of a husband
Who had finished making dinner
A nice soup,
Of flies and sweet spices
What a sweet little gentleman!
Toad was sitting on the bench out front
Of their little green home.
Reading his little newspaper,
Kicking his little legs,
Comfortable in his seat,
That little comfy gentlemen.
Down the dirt path
The little frog strode
Hands in his pockets,
Mind on his Toad –
Excited to go home
And drink the lovely soup
Made by his husband
That little kind gentleman.
The little froggy lad
Reunited with his love
Sat down for dinner
On his little wooden stool
They could not be happier:
Those little fancy gentlemen.
