Mad As Rabbits
Sitting at the tea party
In my blue little dress
Clicking teacups
And hysterical laughter
Filled my young ears
All mad as rabbits…
Scent of sweet cakes
And warm jam
Filled the air
Just as sweet as me –
My flawless skin, so fair
The Hatter sliced his teacup
Right down the middle
No tea spilt, it cut cleanly
While singing a random riddle
Dormouse took it keenly,
Enjoying the Hatter’s song
Placing the rabbit’s watch in his sandwich
And smashed it into bits
Smiling all the way through
A crunchy sandwich, so delicious.
The Dodo drank his tea
Giggling, along with the others
His sandwich, a little feathery
Not minding,
He listened to the White Rabbit:
Ranting and raving
About his mashed watch
Being crunched by The Hatter
In his sweet sandwich.
The Hatter made a cup just for me
Of the most delicious tea
Tasted like nothing I’d had before –
A little funny and a little yummy
Like all of my favourite flavours
In one shiny, little cup
Looking around the table,
To these odd friends I’ve made
And I joined in the laughter
We’re all mad as rabbits.
