The Struggles Of A Failed Spare
Summary
Regulus Black is a female all throughout this fanfic.Regulus Black had been sent away for a straight two years due to their parents fear of her being under Sirius's influence and attempting to properly 'train' her. OR the struggles of an ill teenager.
Note
Explanation to why Regulus is a girl: this is my first fic and to stay motivated I wanted to do something that a lot of people have probably done but not that have read of, but if they have leave recs!! I also done it just because I take interest into the story of Regulus but am genuinely better with girl perspectives. There is gay/lesbian couples in this so don't go straight to assuming there's not.

Chapter 2

The figure was an unrecognisable figure with a scrawny, a bit shorter than Sirius, look. Instantly a recognisable one.

The figure was more clear, they had black puffy sleeves that thinned out towards the palm, a black collar with a white marble shone at the front, a snatched jet black dress with a downturned bold black skirt. Traditional.

He felt as if reality hit in that moment, his breath stiffened and his eyes widened feeling drier then ever, he felt like mother just sparked him in the stomach several times with an unforgiveable. Before thinking he slouched his posture running towards the figure, wrapping his arms around the chair causing movement of the figure, the head of Regulus Arcturus Black turned up.

He observed as her posture struck upright and her eyes numbed, whatever emotions cycling Regulus's current self were unclear, he let out a breath as he saw a twitch upright of his baby sisters smile.

The silence was heavy, "Sirius." It was unexpected for her to break it, she went dry, wriggling out of the somewhat connection they were having.

"Reg- Regulus." He couldn't remember how he last addressed her and he broke, tears formed in Sirius - the older Black, the upcoming heir of the Blacks - broke down at the sight of his baby sister he hadn't spoken to for a straight two years.

Regulus stayed lifeless and slowly put her head down then up again, she looked different, older of course. Sirius felt shattered. 12 to 14, closer to 15 then 10. But she was different, her hair was mid arm length with a combed out full fringe and the non familiar shaggy look of ringlets Sirius had always adored. Her hair was pinned straight and Regulus must of noticed the observance as yet again she broke the silence.

"It's not permanent," she informed him yet did not clear up the confusion, "Marion charmed it, I asked him too. It should last approximately up to two and a half more minutes as I've had it since I arrived."

Sirius took a minute before answering, examining the fresh look of his sister. Grey orbs surrounded with red, skin pale as the walls and in the least rude way to put it; a sickenly skinny look. "alright?" He questioned not certain what he had heard, then it clocked, "first of all who's Marion?"

Regulus rolled her eyes even as her eyes had a small tint of happiness, he took the chair closest to her, "I made friends that's all." She said.

"Okay then," Sirius said nudging her, later was for the protecting, now was for bonding. "Last thing, why would you want to charm your hair straight?"

She hesitated, and shrugged, there was more to it but now wasn't the time.

Sirius couldn't seem to get over the red lines next to her eyes or the black dark patches beneath, nor the bone poking out of each forearm, he wanted to push more out of her and felt angered that even a poke could end this whole conversation. "Sirius," the weak voice of Regulus snapped Sirius back, "I'm going to Hogwarts."

"I know?" Sirius smiled back at her, Regulus didn't return it.

She felt the throbbing in her throat as she reminisced her first and final year there (1st year), Regulus had already got sorted unprepared f0r what would come at the end of the year, she was Slytherin which Sirius so obviously tried to mask his disappointment for. "When I go back I'll remain in the opposing house," Regulus went on as Sirius faltered his showing of a smile.

"Doesn't mean were on opposing sides."

"Does it not?" Regulus threw back much more violently, it was rhetorical, of course it was.

Sirius sat feeling more tense, "no."

"Okay brother." Regulus stated.

Brother.

They sat like that for milliseconds going to minutes.

"SIRIUS!" Shouting pounded through the walls from all the way upstairs, mother. Mother was home.

The voice of their dear mother had sent both into a temporary still motion before Sirius rolled his eyes and kicked off from his chair, Regulus remained representing a figure struck with the full body-bind, Sirius forgot the fear Regulus used to have against mother, he didn't really think beforehand whether she had matured from it.

Nevertheless he knew the scolding incoming from talking to his sister he had been restrained from seeing and since it was the day before semester was over Sirius didn't really desire being lectured the whole night so he set a firm manner and began to creep out of the library giving a short "bye Reg," on his way out.

"Goodbye Sirius." Regulus said quieter than Sirius's steps.

Her hair pinged back.
