Chapter 11- Remus

Remus opened the door to see Harry and Sirius standing there and immediately enveloped Harry in a hug. He had come home for Christmas and Sirius had been peppering Harry with questions and was thoroughly disappointed when Harry told him that he and his friends hadn't done any sort of prank yet.

“Have you at least snuck out or something?” Sirius asked, whining. Remus smiled as he remembered the days when he and the Marauders were Harry’s age. He really thought Sirius was a stuck up brat at that time.

“No, but me and Draco used the invisibility cloak last year,” Sirius’s eyes light up as Harry replies to his question, mouth full of food.

“Anything interesting happening in school?” Remus asks. He’s heard rumours from some parents about some sort of attack happening at Hogwarts. Remus prays it isn’t true.

“Well, um…….there’s been a few people who’ve ended up in the hospital wing….they got petrified,” Sirius’s eyes widened at this information and Remus tried to calm his breathing. But that didn’t work, it never did.

The entire table had been struck silent, and they all ate the rest of the meal in silence, with failed attempts at small talk. When the meal concluded, Sirius got an exciting gleam in his eyes. Remus smiled to himself. He knew what was coming.

“Harry, I think you’re finally old enough to know about the greatest marauders prank of all time!” Sirius announced happily. Harry’s eyes lit up. He always did love hearing about the Marauders. And Remus? Remus just smiled blindingly. Oh, how he loved this man.

Hearing Harry’s excitement, Remus and Sirius shared a look and only they could decipher. It was decided how they were going to spend the night. Harry laughed beautifully as they told story after story, Remus and Harry both ganging up on Sirius and tackling him to the ground after telling him that he wasn’t the hottest guy in Hogwarts at the time and Sirius opening his mouth and sputtering indignantly.

Suddenly, Harry piped up and said something none of them were expecting. Sirius looked very put-off and indignant, while Remus was almost brimming with excitement.

“I think I’ve got a crush on…..Draco,” Harry said, shifting uneasily. His eyes were downcast, and he slowly raised his head to gauge Remus and Sirius’s reactions. Sirius was about to open his mouth to say something, but Remus cut him off.

“I think that’s great Harry. If you’ve got a crush, wait for a bit, make sure it isn’t something small,” Remus advised him, having been through this before. Sirius closed his mouth and fixed him with a fake angry glare.

“Just because it took you five years, doesn’t mean he has to wait too!” Sirius yelled. Harry’s jaw dropped at this admission, while Remus put his head in his hands, this is going to be embarrassing.

“Oh yes! Remus liked me since our second year, and he kissed me in sixth year. Afterwards, he kept denying it, saying that it was because he was drunk or something. But that just meant that he meant it even more,” Sirius was in full swing now, seeing Harry’s rapt interest.

“Are you serious?” Harry asked Remus. Then, his eyes grew wide with fear when he realised what he had done. Remus’s skin turned pale with anger and Harry gulped and looked up at Remus before the storm struck.

“No, I’m Sirius,” Sirius said, having no idea of the fear that had just struck the hearts of Remus and Harry. Harry doubled over, gasping in shock and looking up in fear. Remus scrubbed at his ears, trying to remove the horrid words Sirius just said from his memory.

Sirius clutched his chest in mock hurt, too familiar with Harry and Remus’s reaction to his horrible jokes. Remus smiled to himself. They could be here forever.
