Chapter 12- Harry

Draco and Harry were pressed against the wall, listening with bated breath. Pansy was off visiting Granger at the hospital wing for some reason and apparently someone had been dragged into the chamber of secrets itself. They were just waiting to see who it was.

“Ginny Weasley,” Professor Mcgonagall. Draco’s arm slipped off the wall and his touch sent tingles down Harry’s spine. Not the time, Harry. Harry didn’t know the Weasley’s that well, but he’d met Ron and the twins once when he was younger. He knew how much they loved family, and how much this would affect them.

“Draco, we’ve got to do something. Hagrid’s already been taken away and the spiders told us-” Harry was promptly cut off by Draco’s hand over his mouth.

“Are you mental? Based on what we know it’s a freaking basilisk down there!” Draco hissed. Harry thought this was weird. Sure, it was a basilisk, but wasn’t Ron’s little sister more important than that? She was probably dying right now!

“Please? We have to! It’s Ron’s freaking little sister! And even if you don’t like her, she’s still a first year,” Harry asked. Draco looked conflicted.

“Alright. But, I still think that the adults have it under control…” Draco promptly shut up, Harry’s fierce glare pinned on him.

Just at that moment, the teachers walked out of the classroom, and Professor Lockhart was tasked to find Ginny. If Harry hadn’t already convinced Draco, seeing Lockhart run to his office like a coward had. Draco bit his lip, clearly reluctant, but Harry took his hand and gestured for them to follow.

They pressed against the wall, attempting to be as quiet as possible. Draco’s body squirmed against Harry, and a burst of electricity ran through Harry’s spine. Draco’s silver eyes darted around frantically, and his worried face looked so beautiful that Harry might actually cry. Draco gripped Harry’s hand as Filch’s footsteps scurried down the hall. His glistening eyes pinned onto Harry. Pretty, Harry thought.

They kept sliding along the wall, but Filch’s footsteps pounded down the hall. Think fast, Draco seemed to say. Harry obliged, throwing them into the nearest broom closet, where thankfully, Filch couldn’t see them.

They were so close together, it was as if the universe had contracted to a tiny vacuum of space, and everything was dust, except Draco. No one was moving, their breaths in sync as they waited for Filch to leave. The second Filch did leave, they bolted down the corridor and to the girls bathroom. Harry had already made the breakthrough about the parseltongue, and when they got to the bathroom, Professor Lockhart was nowhere to be found.

“Open.” The snake shaped sink head seemed to understand, and Harry watched with bated breath as the sinks lifted in tandem, opening up an entrance.

“The Chamber of Secrets.” Draco choked out. Harry suddenly felt a tremor of fear shoot through him. Was this the best idea? Well, Ginny didn’t have much time left, Harry thought.

“Together?” Harry looked in askance to Draco, who nodded, swallowing. Their hands fit together perfectly, the grooves and lines clasping into one another.

They stepped over the threshold, and jumped.
