Chapter 5- Pansy

“Really Harry? It’s better we don’t, especially since there might be something dangerous,” Draco says. Pansy notices a dreamy look in Harry’s eyes. SHIP! SHIP! SHIP!

“I agree with Harry, Draco. But if there’s something dangerous, we should go,” Pansy says. Draco scowls but Harry looks happy.

When they’re at the door of the illegal third-floor corridor, Pansy is beginning to have second thoughts,

“Harry? Are you sure the information Hagrid gave you was correct?” Pansy asks. Harry confirms and Draco rolls his eyes.

“Alohomora,” Pansy uttered. The door swings open and Draco starts playing the instrument they brought to get past fluffy. However, Fluffy was already asleep when they opened the door.

“Good thing we didn’t have to deal with that,” Harry says. Pansy nods in agreement and they move on to the next door. They are faced with a giant chess set.

“Pansy! You’re good at chess, play!” Draco exclaims. Pansy rolls her eyes and instructs them to get on a piece.

So, they keep playing chess, until Harry and Draco don’t know what to do. Pansy scans the chessboard. She sees a move to make, the castle movement. However, she’ll have to sacrifice herself.

“Harry! Once I make my move, the queen will take me. Then you’re free to take out the king,” Pansy says. Harry shakes his head almost immediately.

“No, Pansy, no! There must be another way!” Harry exclaims.

“Yeah Pansy, you can’t sacrifice yourself!” Draco chimes in. Pansy has had it with these boys.

“Do you want to stop the mysterious man from getting that stone or not! You have to go on, you and Draco, right. Knight to H3,” Pansy retorts. Harry gives up and Pansy crashes down from her piece. All she can see is the blurry outlines of the boys she has learned to love and watches Harry win the game and go onto the next door with Draco.

Black. Then the scene slowly comes to focus. She sees the faint outline of Draco and looks around for Harry.

“Listen Pansy, Harry went on. We need to go get help,” Draco says. Pansy looks at him in alarm, but Pansy has no other choice but to leave Harry.

They run out of the corridor, and Pansy’s head is pounding heavily by the time they get to Dumbledore’s office. The griffin in front of his office remains impassive, no matter what she and Draco say so they go get Mcgonagall instead, much to Draco’s chagrin.

“Professor, we went to the 3rd floor corridor and Harry is stuck there!” Draco bursts out. Professor Mcgonnagall doesn’t seem surprised.

“Alright then. Miss Parkinson, you have a bump on your head, I recommend that you get that checked out in the hospital wing. Mr. Malfoy, go back to your common room and wait for Mr. Potter, I’ll handle this,” Professor Mcgongall states smoothly. Pansy nods and runs off to the hospital wing with Draco.

When they get to the hospital wing, Pansy takes in the scent of hospital and the beige walls of the wing. She sees Madam Pomfrey and goes up to her.

“Madam Pomfrey, I hit my head when I fell down the stairs, can you patch it up for me?” Pansy lies smoothly. Liar. Her father says. I’m not a liar.

She nods briskly and gives Pansy a flask of potion. Pansy drinks it and her head becomes clearer immediately. Suddenly, Harry is wheeled into the hospital wing, followed by Dumbledore, Professor Mcgonagall and Draco.

“Right, Miss Parkinson, please take Mr Malfoy back to the common room, he's having a panic attack,” Dumbledore says. Pansy nods and leads Draco back to the common room by the hand.

Only when they get back to the common room does Pansy notice that Draco is muttering Harry under his breath. Pansy smiles at Draco fondly. THE SHIP IS SAILING THE SHIP IS SAILING.

“Don’t worry, Draco, I’m sure Harry will be alright,” Pansy soothes. Draco seems frozen but is starting to calm down a little. Alright Pansy, just gotta wait until Harry’s out of the hospital wing.

But she waits a day. One day turns to two. Two turns to four. Four turns to seven. And finally, on the eighth day, Harry’s cleared for visitors.

“Harry! Sorry Harry, I sort of told everyone that you killed Quirrell,” Pansy says. After this, she and Draco go into a sugar-induced fever dream about what happened after he was out.

“And then, we won the house cup! Ravenclaw was going to, but you, me and Pansy got 20 points each! You got 30. Final exams were cancelled as well, and we won the quidditch cup!” Draco finishes. Harry listens and turns his attention back to the piles of candy piled up at the side of his bed. Pansy and Draco help him unpackage it, and Pansy slips some chocolate frogs into her pockets, which were from Harry’s dads.

“Harry? What do you think your dads will say about this?” Pansy asks. Harry pales in terror.
