Purebloods And Prejudice
Katia gingerly picked another dainty flower from the lush greenery before slowly tucking it into Jess’ hair.
The two girls sat in comfortable silence, enjoying the tranquil ambience of the lush green field that seemed to stretch for miles. As Jess softly hummed a tune, Katia continued gently adorning her friend’s hair with more flowers. They sat cross-legged, feeling the tickle of wildflowers and blades of grass on their bare skin, as the warm sun radiated down upon them, enveloping them in its soothing glow. Time seemed to slow as nature whisked the girls away from their reality.
“Do you like it here, Katia?” Jess spoke up, her voice still low.
“Yes,” Katia replied, inspecting another flower before choosing a position for it inside Jess’ hair, "It'z a beautiful day and ze' flowers are lovely."
“No, hah, as in Hogwarts. What do you like about it?”
Katia paused for a moment, thinking about her response, “I feel free here. I also have you guys. I hate how zey accept mudbloods here, глупый,” Katia was evidently disgusted with the fact.
Jess sighed heavily and closed her eyes, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. She valued her friendship with Katia but the topic of their respective blood statuses always seemed to linger but was barely spoken about. Jess was a half-blood whereas Katia came from a long line of purebloods.
Jess always felt a surge of pain whenever Katia would comment on muggles mixing with wizards and how it's damaging the wizarding society. Katia just didn't understand- couldn't understand- what it felt like when she said things like that to Jess, Katia's life was one of privilege and splendour, at least to Jess; she had been raised in such an environment that some preconceived notions pushed onto her by her parents were to be expected. Katia strongly stood by her beliefs but always made an exception for Jess, Katia loved and adored her friend, but she couldn’t deny her views.
Katia struggled with her own conflicting emotions. She was aware how muggles mixing with wizards was 'wrong' but it didn’t seem to matter for Jess. She loved and respected Jess for who she was and wouldn’t even dare to comment on her family. However, the two girls did have a strong bond and nothing could divide that. They knew that their personality and intentions took priority over where their family came from.
Despite the previous comment, the two girls remained sat and fell into a comfortable silence. Jess absentmindedly hummed a simple tune while Katia weaved delicate flowers into her hair. She carefully picked each flower, making sure it’d look perfect amongst Jess’ hair.
