The marauders arrived at the potters cabin just before sunset. Upon arrival they found themselves with the task of dodging the girlfriend questions from James’s rather large extended family and not trying very hard to dodge the meal Effie insisted they eat before getting settled. As they sat down and began to pile their plates with more of Effie’s delicious home cooking she began to speak“We only have two rooms left and one of them only has one bed so two of you will have to share” she stated while loading up another plate of perogis for Remus.
“That should be fine mum, we are used to sharing rooms at school” James replied while polishing off the last of his plate. Sirius glances at Remus and catches his eye. “Ahem, I’ll share the bed, I don’t mind” Remus says quickly, fidgeting with his hands while he glances over to Sirius. “Ok who wants to-“ “ill room with moony” Sirius cuts Peter off. The shorter boy looked suspiciously at the pair before replying “ok then it’s settled, I’ll go grab the bags”.
An hour after dark everyone had settled for the night and Remus and Sirius were getting ready for bed. Sirius was brushing his teeth groggily, exhausted from the long drive, and Remus was pulling a fresh T-shirt over his head, running his fingers through his fluffy brown hair.
“Can you turn off the lights when you come in pads?” Remus calls while climbing into the bed, covering himself in the soft blue quilt.
The light flicks off as Sirius softly walks over and into bed.
As he crawled in next to remus in the barely big enough bed, his frozen hands grazed Remus’s hands. “You’re freezing, do you have a sweater?” Remus asked. “Nah I’m too cool to be cold” Siri mumbled, burrowing into the bedclothes. “I’ll be back” Remus states before reaching for his duffel and pulling out a hoodie. “brand new,it doesn’t have those little pills on it that you hate” Remus says, tossing the grey garment to him. “You didn’t have to” Sirius says, wriggling into the soft cloth anyways. “You were freezing, it’s just what…friends do” Remus replied, climbing in next to the raven haired boy. “Beds too small” Sirius mumbles, already a half asleep. “Yea, I’ll move so you can get comfortable” Remus replies, Sirius is about to stop him until remus’s arm slides under him, resting around his waist and the other coming up to brush his hair out of the way as Remus’s body moves to be flush with Sirius’s back. His breath hitches as Remus’s warm hand finds a place to rest in his hair, slowly playing with the inky strands. Sirius’s stomach flip flops as he melts into the touch, all he can feel is Remus’s warmth surrounding his own, Remus’s hands in his hair, just Remus. All he can smell is Remus’s cologne, sandalwood and vanilla, and Remus’s shampoo, more sandalwood. The most intoxicating smell, Sirius keeps a sample size of this scent tucked away in the back of his closet, using the familiar smell sparingly on his sweaters, pillowcase, and the large stuffed bear Remus won at a carnival once and “forgot” in Sirius’s room at the potters the summer before, ever since Sirius has been falling asleep with it in his arms. All he knows now is Remus, the heat practically radiating off of the taller man, overwhelming Sirius, making him melt further into his arms as they both drift off to sleep.
Sirius wakes up the next morning sprawled across Remus’s chest, his arms stiff firmly holding him close. At that moment Sirius felt safer than ever, allowing himself to fall back asleep into the arms of his…situationship? Not worrying about what they are, or what they need to be. All he felt right now was the calm feeling of his favourite person wrapping his arms around him to envelop him in the best smell ever.
