Between a Potion
Summary
Zak Lovule and Alex Kellip are sworn enemies, ever since their first year in the schooling of wizards and witches. In the school of Hogwarts, they have finally returned as seventh-years after 2 years of a harmful "event" occurring, keeping everyone at bay in their hometowns. One day in potions class they are stuck together as partners. Being clumsy and stubborn, a loud clapping sound makes the two drop a few extra ingredients into the cauldron.
Note
A two-year event happened that caused Hogwarts to shut down for a while. That pushed back everyone's time to attend Hogwarts. Everything is momentarily changed to account for my story. I am not a nerd about Harry Potter, nor the schooling part of it. I acknowledge my differences and if anyone sees a mistake, please alarm me of it.

Small Talk

Talking is sometimes worse than actions

The next day after the 'small' accident, Alex got up and mentally got ready for the 'normal' day to repeat. Alex was pretty worried about potions class, he and Zak would have to drink the potion they made themselves. Alex sighed and gathered his things. After finishing he went over to the Great Hall for breakfast. Carlos and George were already seated when he arrived.

Carlos glanced at Alex, noticing his absence. "What took you long sleepy head?" Carlos was already picking what he wanted to eat, and George just picking at his food. Alex sat down and looked at the table full of delicious food.

Alex looked over at Carlos and sighed. "I was just worried about potions class, I am sorry I seem a bit wonky." Alex glanced at George, who was spacing off. "What's up with you?"

George jumped a bit in shock and looked at Alex. "N-Nothing!" You could hear him stutter, telling almost everyone he was lying.

"Uh huh, is this about Simon again?" George blushed, the tip of his ears showing it. He shook his head in denial, but everyone knew George had a crush on Simon.

Carlos giggles and states, "George we all know about your crush. You should just try and talk to him." Carlos is having too much fun with this, smirking while talking. His little white wings show off on his back. Yes, there are other creatures here at Hogwarts. They allowed this rule after a prolonged situation with hybrids and other humanoid creatures. George was a muggle, and he was quite afraid of anything magical.

George blushes and tries to hide his ears. "I can't help it; anytime I see him my jaw locks up and I can't speak!"

No one can help him, he's too shy to tell Simon anything. It's quite cute seeing him flustered, yes, but I have my own problems like trying to think of a way I can just get Lovule to drink the potion.

Alex started to reach for different things on the table for breakfast and Carlos non-stop teased poor George on his crush. Alex tried glancing over to the Slytherin table but had no success because Carlos's wings blocked his eyesight. Honestly, he just wanted to see if he could see any fear or hint of worry in Lovule's eyes.

What Alex believes is quite truer than he knows, Zak was indeed worried, he knew he would be the first one to drink it or there would be another fight that would get them into even more trouble. He can't keep risking his reputation over stupid fights. He tried pushing the scenario away from his head by eating but it did nothing but make him lose his appetite. Zak knows it shouldn't worry him at all because they're under higher supervision and if something did happen, they have potions to solve it, but those ingredients that fell in, it left an anxiety-filled pit in his stomach.

The group of three sat, ate, and started talking about quidditch tactics and strategies to win against Ravenclaw coming up. Zak was the keeper after all, and something was upsetting him, so, Simon spoke up about it.

"Okay Zak, I may be someone you don't like to talk about your 'personal' side with, but I'm still your friend and I need to know, what the fuck is happening? "

Evan chimed in. "I agree with Simon, you ran out of potions class yesterday without saying anything and didn't even talk to me or Simon about it, and now you are stalling" Evan and Simon know when Zak is down, or, really, anything wrong in that matter.

Zak glared at the two, "Nothing is happening you two, just concerned about potions class."

"And why?" Simon said, sounding a bit bothered by it.

"I got teamed with damn Kellip again and we made a mistake. We have to drink our potions and I'm terrified of what's going to happen". Zak picked at his food and then took a small bite of his syrup-filled pancakes.

Evan took a quick bite of his cereal. "Didn't think you of all people would be scared of a damn small potion. You've dealt worse with, well, you know" A little whisper came out of Evan while saying the last part of that.

"Be. Quiet. We did a random mix so I'm just being cautious. That's all." Zak grunted, glaring at Evan.

Evan huffed and ate a piece of toast. "Hey, we're just curious and worried. Talking about your reputation, if more people find out that you made a mistake, bye bye mister Prefect." Simon spoke out of nowhere, loud enough for other Slytherins to look over.

"Quiet!!"

Zak growled and got up leaving the Great Hall. Furious with the conversation and upset with the way things might turn out, the thoughts boiled everything wrong within Zak's head. Alex noticed Lovule leaving in frustration and couldn't help but giggle to himself. He could use what happened in potions class as an advantage to gain an upper hand.
