Nothing new

Ugh he was being such a fucking sap, what would Mori say to him if he found out? Nothing. Because Mori wasn’t going to find out, if he did he would exploit his weakness and make him do awful things because he knew.

He couldn’t let that happen, so he would hide, under his mask, on the stage, he would play the fool, but he was more than that, so much more.

______

Snape stared at his problem child all breakfast, and was surprised that they hadn’t made eye contact at all, usually they met each other’s eyes once randomly.

But it was like the boy was avoiding him, what had he done to deserve that? Knowing his bandaged student, it was probably for something that he had no clue about.

The kid just likes to hold grudges he guesses.

While he wasn’t totally against holding grudges, Snape held some himself, they weren’t the best thing in the world. That child needed to learn how to calm himself down and not make a scene, or worse, a fool of himself; though he did that quite often, especially in his Potions class.

Severus sighed and rubbed his temples, too much Dazai this morning, he was getting a headache already.

______

By the end of breakfast, Dazai had consumed a small amount of fruit, that was incredibly sweet, which he didn’t actually mind; and a single slice of toast.

It wasn’t a lot, but Blaise was clearly proud of him so he would take that with extreme happiness and continue about his day.

He was now ready to face the world ahead of him(Lockhart)

He felt a lot more energetic, and less tired than he was when he had gotten to the Great Hall, though he was still tired don’t get him wrong; it was just significantly less than before.

Who knew food would do that to you? Why had people kept food away from him for so long, why did he let them? Especially is it tasted good?

Everyone in The Great Hall ate and wasted food, wasn’t food a luxury? Somehow Dazai thought that wasn’t the case, it seemed he needed to be educated again with what was a privilege and what wasn’t.

He stood up when it was clear the breakfast was over, and he took the time to finally survey the Great Hall, he hadn’t done so at all yet, it wasn’t anything surprising honestly; just a bunch of kids and the professors that were eating.

He took a quick glance to them, before staring back at the kids, he didn’t want to be looking over there too much, especially if he caught eyes with Snape. Things were sure to happen then.

Dazai had felt the professors eyes on him all breakfast, and was surprised that the teacher hadn’t learned to read his thoughts yet with how hard he had been staring at the back of his head, but he was also kind of glad, because his thoughts would get him sent to a mental hospital if they were viewed by anyone other than himself.

Haha, he was so silly, wasn’t he?

More like mentally unstable, that was a better way to describe him if you so wished for one.

Dazai pitied anyone who thought he was sane in the head, they were in for an awfully rude awakening.

Because he was very much not sane up in his head, he would have been sane if he hadn’t been born, but unlucky for him and the world he had been born and he was going to make it every sorry persons problem.

That’s just what he does, and what he will continue to do until he kicks the bucket, which he hopes for his sake, is soon, but with his luck it wouldn’t be anytime soon.

He snapped back to the world around him and found that he had spaced out while following Blaise to class, the boy didn’t seem to mind, or bring any attention to it and Dazai was thankful for that.

Dazai quite literally doesn’t remember walking all the way to the DADA classroom with Blaise, but he’ll take it, small victories I guess. It was like his body went into autopilot but he didn’t do anything at all, didn’t even think while he walked, he was just empty.

It seemed he was living up to the demon allegations even if no one noticed at the moment, Dazai thought that Mori would be proud, at least someone was proud of him, the only person who would ever be proud of him during his time on this planet. Not like Mori ever being proud of him could be seen as normal, maybe at just a glance, but never if you look for too long.

Who would be proud of a monster like him? Only another crueler monster could ever do so.

He settled into his seat with Blaise at the back of the classroom, and awaited the stupid blonde teacher’s arrival, he had just started the day and he already wanted to end it. He surveyed the room, looking for anything of interest and upon finding nothing of the sort, he sighed out loud.

You could say that, Dazai was still incredibly jittery from earlier, he was afraid for what little sanity he had to be lost to this one teacher, he himself wouldn’t mind killing the blonde but it would be incredibly frowned upon and he would most likely get expelled for it this time.

_____

Turns out the blonde professors arrival would be exactly two minutes from them, right before class theoretically started. Some would say it was a flashy and interesting entrance, but most and including Dazai would say that it was useless theatrics.

Dazai sighed, letting the air leave his lungs as he set his arms on the table and then rested his head against them face down. He was too tired for this, way too tired.

Wait was this how Snape felt when Dazai acted like himself? The thought was amusing, and Dazai found himself almost pitying the potions professor, but he’s not capable of doing that so haha why bother trying.

Lockhart quickly took a short attendance, and then skipped right on his merry way to the lesson for today, which was basically just him boasting about how good and cool and how much of a hero he was.

Which was literal horse shit, the guy hadn’t performed a single spell, and was too self centered to actually teach the kids anything. So much for being a class on defense against the dark arts.

It was more like try not to die of fucking boredom.

Dazai wanted to rip his hair out the blonde professor was so fucking annoying, Dazai could go on a rant for ages about how much the teacher infuriated him, and how useless he was.

If he was that stupid teacher he would have already killed himself because he was so useless!

If he wasn’t important to the plot of anything anyone could have killed him right on the spot and everyone would go on their merry fucking way! (Dazai breaking the forth wall👀 but this is really unimportant)

He probably won’t even appear in the writing after this chapter so why even bother with him? He could be fucking skipped over right now his rant could be over and he could be in his next class where he could actually get a nap peacefully ; but noooo we have to reach a certain word count for each chapter blah blah blah.

Dazai lifted his head up and leaned back against his chair, maybe if he tried to look like he was paying attention and actually learning something time would understand and go by faster for him?

Apparently not, fifteen minutes had passed and he was starting to get antsy, he tried pinching his thigh at small intervals when he felt himself veering by off of concentration but it didn’t help. He then resorted to just scratching roughly at his bandages, until he felt a hand on his.

He mentally kicked himself as he turned around to look at Blaise, his second in command looked at him with concern. To which Dazai rolled his eyes playfully and rested his head against a propped up arm.

They both didn’t dare say anything, because if they did attention would be drawn to them and Lockhart would throw a big fit and probably say something like ‘never in all my years of teaching’ bro hasn’t even been teaching for a year yet first off and second since when did that phrase ever do anything??

Dazai didn’t know where the phrase originated from but he remembers very clearly multiple times when Mori used tweaked versions of it when he was disappointed. For example ‘never in all my years as a doctor’ or ‘never in all my years in the medical field’

Dazai felt his insides being ripped apart from boredom and from his jitteriness and just pure frustration with the classroom, he considered leaving right then and there. He would probably get lost but no one would really care, maybe Blaise would but Dazai doubted the boy would actually leave the class with him.

A shame really, he was kind of looking forward to another time when they could bond with each other.

Don’t tell anyone he thought that though, he wasn’t growing soft, he was just..allowing himself to enjoy something a little, yes, that’s right he was just enjoying someones company it was nothing special or more than that. They weren’t friends, it was just a boss and subordinate relationship.

Right?

Blaise was kinda to him, but because Dazai was his boss. It was nothing more, right?
