fearless flight
James Potter was, to say the least, very surprised to find Regulus Black bleeding out on his doorstep.
James had not been sleeping, it was two am, and he was sipping hot chocolate in the armchair in his living room.
But he heard a quick sound, like someone apparating. James pulled out his wand, ready to fight, but when James had opened his front door cautiously, he saw his best mate’s brother.
Regulus had fallen to the ground as soon as he apparated there. He did not have the energy to stand up, or even sit up.
He was covered in blood, his clothes were torn, as if something had clawed at his skin, leaving long cuts on his legs, and on his arms, there was one on his cheek.
In a situation in which Regulus was not bleeding out on James’ doorstep, James would’ve been very suspicious of him, since he’s a bloody death eater. But James could never leave him out, without helping him, he couldn’t leave him to die.
And as he crouched down to pick Regulus up,he heard Regulus say ,“James” before his eyes fluttered shut, his long eyelashes brushing against his cheeks.
James picked him up and carried him to the extra bedroom in his house. He put Regulus down onto the bed, rushing to get his medical kit.
James pulled his wand back out, took a deep breath and recalled the healing spells he knew.
He started to cast the spell on Regulus, after doing his best to clean his wounds. He’d had to cut off Regulus' shirt, which revealed his pale, thin and bleeding chest.
As James was casting the healing spell, he could hear Regulus whimper in pain the slightest bit. The thing was, James was only so-so at healing spells, but he could do them but it would definitely hurt more than it would if someone more experienced was doing the spell.
After James had done all he could do at the moment to fix Regulus’ wounds, and put bandages on them, he had put him into some more comfortable clothes, blue pajamas with white stripes, which were just a tad bit too big on him.
Regulus’ breathing was slower than it should be, but at least he was breathing.
James finally sat down and allowed himself to relax for a bit after that whole situation. He pulled up a chair next to the bed, and sat down. It wasn’t like he could just go to sleep, it wasn’t like he could let Regulus out of his sight.
James fell asleep on the chair.
And Regulus Black lay just a few inches away from him, with his untidy curly hair falling on his face.
