A Godfather's Promise
After exchanging several letters with Draco and witnessing firsthand the care and guidance he provided to James, Harry and Ron felt a deep sense of gratitude and respect for Draco. Harry took a deep breath, his eyes reflecting determination. "I think it's time we consider making Draco James' godfather. He's proven himself to be a friend and mentor to James, and I believe he would take that responsibility seriously."
Ron's eyes widened in surprise, but then he smiled warmly. "That's a wonderful idea, Harry. Draco has definitely earned our trust and respect. I think James would be thrilled."
Harry nodded, feeling a sense of conviction. "I'll talk to Draco about it. I'm sure he'll be honored."
The next time Draco visited Hogwarts to meet with James, Harry and Ron joined them in the Slytherin common room. After chatting for a while, Harry broached the topic with Draco.
"Draco, we wanted to talk to you about something important," Harry began, his voice serious yet warm.
Draco looked at them with curiosity, nodding for Harry to continue.
"We've been so grateful for everything you've done for James," Ron added, his expression filled with appreciation. "You've been like a godfather to him in many ways."
Draco's eyes widened in surprise, his heart swelling with emotion. "I... I don't know what to say."
Harry smiled, reaching out to place a hand on Draco's shoulder. "We would like to officially ask if you would be James' godfather. You've shown us how much you care about him, and we trust you to continue guiding and supporting him."
Draco's eyes glistened with unshed tears, a mixture of gratitude and honor filling his heart. "I would be honored, Harry, Ron. Thank you for trusting me with this."
They shared a heartfelt embrace, sealing their bond of friendship and the promise of a godfather's guidance and love for James.
