Rainy Drive

Chapter 1

The cold droplets slid down from his hair past the collar off his coat. He could feel his nose running, he was definitely going to catch a cold. If he ever got home again, he would choke Fred and Gorge out until they couldn’t tell the sky and the ground apart, tricking him so he would miss the bus was probably one off the evilest things his brothers had ever done.

Percy had just wanted to go to the closest village and have a nice quiet day in the library, he had found out that it existed during his last winter break, when he helped his mother shop for some ingredients, she had run out off. And as the cold wind blew another gust off rain against his neck, he remembered the cold winter air that had blown across his face that day, not that he noticed, because it was like he was drawn towards one tiny shop on the most outer corner off the marketplace. From the outside it didn’t look like much, the red brick walls were faded and dirtied, ivy and other greens growing up the side off the building, leaves off grass and dandelions sprang free in between the sidewalk bricks in front of the shop. The windows had been dirty, but he didn’t even notice, to transfixed on the book that was displayed behind the glass.

The book cover was just like he remembered it. A rush went thru him as he raised his hand towards the stained surface, and he could feel the velvety green cover under his fingers as if there was no glass between them, as if he was back at his uncle's house, hidden in the woods, trying to pass the time until his uncle got home, by tracing the lettering on the cover with his then small fingers.
He still knew every letter by heart. He always wished for Uncle Gideon to return home sooner so he could read him the book again.

He shock out of his memory’s as another gust off cold wet wind hit him in the face.he had known that his twin brothers would be difficult to handle, they always found a way to mess with him, but this morning his mother wouldn’t stop pestering him about how it would be good for fred and gorge to get out of the house and how Percy could be a big help by getting them off her back for a bit, all while percy helped her clean off the dinner table before helping her tidy up the kitchen since all his younger siblings had fleet to their rooms right after they were done eating, he had just given in and agreed quietly, after this they had just continued cleaning in silence.

He of course had been right not to want his brothers with him they hadn’t left him alone the 30 minuets they had to walk towards the bus station and after that he had to keep them quiet the entire 2-hour bus ride to avoid being thrown out the bus or annoy other passengers. He didn’t even get to look at his book once, it only got worse later when they were finally in the village, where of course he wasn’t able to think about books once, at first Fred and gorge persisted on dragging him around the marked and after Percy saw what they were getting up to in-frond off him, shouting loudly about ,”Muggels’’ and how ,,that would be so much easier with magic’’, he didn’t feel comfortable with leaving them alone in the company off non magical humans. And of course, they would get annoyed by his constant “pestering’’ and planned on out their revenge on him.

Said revenge had been stealing his book sometime over the day without him noticing. And then 3 hours later when they were back at the bus station percy was annoyed, cold, tired and only wanted to go home. So, he didn’t even want to sit down. Standing at the curb as he waited for the bus to arrive, he made it so easy for them to put the book on the bench without Percy noticing and when the bus finally arrived, he could only be annoyed at the spray off water that the bus tires send his way. Now he was annoyed, tired and his feed were wet, at that point he assumed the twins giggling was because they found his current misery and misfortune funny but as soon as they had all gotten on the bus they suddenly poked up and pointed out off the window and said only loud enough for Percy to hear ,, Percy, isn’t’’ ,, that your dumb book?’’ And Percy felt panic fleer up inside him as he looked at the station bench and truly, his book was laying on the bench and in the same second, he knew. The station they were at didn’t have one off those platforms to shield waiting passengers from the unforgiving weather and if he didn’t get his book now it would be ruined tomorrow.

So he jumped up out of his seat and manoeuvred himself out of the last bus door, leaped towards the bench and grabbed his book, and the at the same time he felt relive spread through his body he heard a loud rumbling and the relive immediately tuned into dread, as he turned around only to see the bus drive away and his brothers waving to him mockingly, while sporting two identical shit eating grins on their faces. And Percy could do nothing but stare. He couldn’t believe it, were his brothers stupid and somewhat mean sometimes? Sure, but seriously they could not be this cruel. He didn’t know how much time went by while he could only stare after the retrieving bus, they knew this was the last bus today he had, in their words, been ,,bitching’’ about it the whole day.
And as he felt the first raindrops fall onto his face, he realized that he had left his bag in the bus.

Percy had put his book into his jacked where it was pressed between his body and the fabric off his jacked, to keep it safe from the rain.
Then several minutes after he decided to walk to the next station, there he could at least hide from the pouring rain before he had to think about what he would do now.going back to the city would take just as long and he was sure that anyone he could ask for help would ask to many questions in return.

Now probably over half an hour later he was completely drenched and it was getting harder to see anything thanks to the pouring rain and mist that laid over everything, from the street he walked on to the endless fields and the occasional cluster off trees that he passed , and now it started to feel like a thick cold and wet blanked that tried to wight him down, maybe he would simply drown here, maybe then Fred and Gorge would feel sorry for at least one thing they did to him.
Percy, he asked himself when his parents would notice him missing if the twins didn’t fess up, and hated how he felt his eyes glazing over. They would notice as soon as his mother needed help cleaning something up or taking care of something for his siblings.
