Summary
Regulus is overseas in Europe fighting World War 2, and James is in America training new soldiers. They keep in touch through letters, sent from the heart of enemy lines, through tragedy, heartbreak and eventually a happy ending for them all.

Dear James,
Tragedy has struck. Remus and Lily were sent on a scouting mission and neither returned. A few hours later, Lily returned to the camp, fairly unscathed. They were ambushed on their mission, and while trying to escape, Remus was shot in the stomach and taken by the Nazis. We do not know if we will see him again, but we have sent out scouts. He was one week before we are forced to leave him and continue north to Poland. Tell Sirius I'm sorry I couldn't keep Remus safe. I hope your job is going well, though my heart aches for the men being sent overseas, for many of them will surely not return. Take care of Sirius.
