Summary
Regulus is overseas in Europe fighting World War 2, and James is in America training new soldiers. They keep in touch through letters, sent from the heart of enemy lines, through tragedy, heartbreak and eventually a happy ending for them all.

Dear James,
I am so sorry you have not heard from me for some time and I hope you are not too worried. A failed raid forced us to retreat, and most escaped with minor injuries. Evan has a broken arm. I was shot in the shoulder by a German officer, and this is the first chance I've gotten to write to you. We are both slowly on the mend. We plan to move on soon, and I fear it will be quite some time before I see you again.
