Chapter 24 Dudley
He should be here by now.
It was all Dudley could think as he paced up and down his cell.
Dudley continued to tell himself over and over that Draco would turn up eventually, but he didn’t. Draco didn’t turn up.
Dudley startled at every small sound, turning quickly and hoping to see Draco stood there.
Dudley imagined that he’d smile widely and apologise because he’d fallen asleep and hadn’t realised how late it was, then he’d take Dudley’s hand, they’d wrap themselves up in each other.
When his breakfast appeared on the floor Dudley realised it was the next morning. He’d stayed awake all night waiting for Draco, he had said he was coming.
He was supposed to be here. It must have been something he’d done, he was so stupid! Why had he kissed him? Of course that would freak him out, Dudley had pushed him too far. Draco was probably up there now cursing Dudley’s name, hating him, he was horrible and filthy, how could Dudley have deluded himself into thinking someone like Draco would even look twice at someone like him.
Dudley chastised himself, he always managed to push people away, everything he touched seemed to turn to dust in his hands. He wanted his mum. More than anything in the world at that moment he wanted his mum to scoop him up and make everything okay. The one source of comfort he had left and he’d found a way to screw it up.
Dejected, he sat down in his corner and ate his breakfast alone.
