Chapter 11 Draco

Draco tumbled into the dungeon, Dudley landed at his feet in a heap. The apparition must have knocked the last of his consciousness from him. Draco had no idea what the long term effects of repeated torture with crucio were, but it couldn’t be good. Dudley had been exposed to far too much in the last few days. His body had given up. Draco laid him out on his back in his corner. Draco was touching him, all he could think of was how much Dudley didn’t want to be touched, Draco was violating him even now. Dudley’s body was large and difficult to get into a comfortable position but Draco tried so hard to be gentle.
‘I’m so sorry’ he whispered over Dudley’s body to no one.
Dudley was completely unconscious, Draco gently checked for a pulse, hands shaking so much that it took him several minutes to find it and convince himself he wasn’t just feeling the blood thrumming in his own fingertips. Draco took advantage of Dudley’s lack of autonomy to tend to his wounds. Dudley would have refused magical aid if he’d been awake.
‘Vulnera Sanentur’ the open wounds still angry and bleeding Over Dudley’s chest slowly knitted back together. They were still sore and raised and covered in blood but no longer gaping open. Draco re-read the words ‘muggle filth’ they would be with Dudley the rest of his life. Draco shook his head, he couldn’t think about it now. Instead he removed his jacket and laid it over Dudley. A futile attempt at preserving his dignity, as though Draco hadn’t just been complicit in Dudley’s torture moments before. Draco moved to Dudley’s face. He episkey’d his nose, hearing the cartilage move back into place. He couldn’t do anything for Dudley’s eye, he didn’t know any spells to help, it would have to heal on its own. Draco didn’t want to, but he apparated to his bedroom to retrieve his duvet. He took his jacket back, Dudley wouldn’t want Draco’s jacket on him when he woke. He wouldn’t want to ever see him again. The thought twisted a knife in Draco’s side. Draco carefully draped Dudley in the duvet. Draco shouldn’t have done it but it might have been his only chance, he ran his fingers through Dudley’s hair, stroking, feeling the warmth of him, his fingers slipping easily through Dudley’s curls. Draco then retreated to his wall, but he was too far away to properly watch the steady rise and fall of Dudley’s chest so he inched forwards until he was just close enough to make sure he was breathing but as far away enough that Dudley wouldn’t startle when he woke.
That’s how Draco spent the whole night, back aching, heart broken, guilt ridden and self hating watching the Dudley’s chest rise and fall.
