Train Compartment Shenanigans

The group ushered into the compartment, the six of them sitting into their compartment comfortably. Lee Jordan sat across from Serina next to the window, Fred and Angelina squeezed into the middle, with Orion and George off to the side wings. As Serina waves her parents goodbye, like she does every year, Angelina begins talking with the twins.

“This is our first year without Wood, who do you think is the captain this year?”

“Dunno, thought it would’ve been one of us,”

Fred pointed around the cart to Angelina, himself, and George, when Lee chuckled,

“You or George? Nah, it would’ve definitely been Angelina,”

Angelina blushed scarlet and bashfully looked at the window as Serina backed into the carriage.

“We’re off!”

she happily barked, smiling at the group. Her eyes lingered on Orion, who was peacefully staring back at her. The group nestled back down, smiling and laughing at stupid little jokes the twins made.

“Oh! I got a question for you, Angelina,”

George beamed at the girl, a mischievous glint in his soft brown eyes,

“Do you know what material this sweater’s made out of?”

The younger twin picked at his elder brother’s sweater, showing off the brown fabric to Angelina. She thought for a moment, then bent forward and rubbed the material between her fingers. As she lean back, she asked the answer

“Cotton? Wool? Can’t really tell,”

George smiled and let go of the sweater, and throughout all of this, Fred finally raised an eyebrow to his brother.

“Nah,”

He leaned back in his seat, placing his feet on the seat, right by Orion’s legs that were brought up onto the seat,

“It’s boyfriend material”

The cart bursted out in laughs from everyone but Fred, Angelina was giggling at the punch line, but yet she had light flush upon her features, he looked at George, his pal, freckled face stuck in a flushed glare. The cart doubled over in laughter after Fred’s reaction, and Orion landed on the ground in laughter. When the group got their breaths, Orion sat back in his seat, and George’s eyes lingered on him.

Fred glared at his brother, noticing the long gaze the younger spared for Orion, a wicked grin settling into place on his features.

“Hey, Orion,”

The other boy settled his giggles and looked at Fred, his hand covering the smile settled on his face.

“Yeah?”

He asked from behind the hand, bringing his legs up to his chest.

“What scent did you smell when we studied amortentia?”

Orion flushed from behind his hand, eyes widening a bit.

“Uhh- I don’t think I reme-“

“Oo! I do!!It was—“

Serina trailed off, staring at the window. It was dark now, well dim maybe, but there was little light coming in from the outside. As Serina thought, Orion was shooting glares at her, ever-so-slightly making it obvious he did in fact know.

“I think,, Gunpowder, a sweet candy-like smell, and some strong fruity cologne, right Angelina?

By now, Angelina was smiling mischievously, knowing exactly where Fred was heading with this, she turned to Serina, trying to play at least a little dumb,

“Yeah, I think I remember you saying that during class,”

She turned to Orion as she spoke, the mischievous grin placed back on her features. Curse the fact Gryffindors had potions with the Slytherins. Orion’s face was scarlet, and as he glared at Angelina, Lee and Fred laughed,

“Well, that says something!”

Lee exclaimed, peering over at George, whom was heavily confused. The two laughing boys shared a glance and their laughter died, was George that oblivious?

“Georgie- for sure you kno-“

“Looks like we better start getting our robes on,”

Serina spoke, cutting Fred off, as she peered out of the window. Hogwarts was nearly in view. Quickly and noiselessly, Orion, Angelina, and Serina hopped up, grabbed their robes and rushed out of the compartment.

As the three left, Fred turned to George, in the middle of taking his robes from his trunk,

“George, you have to know what that means-“

George’s face was stone now, he looked agitated even, which was extremely out of character for him. He grabbed his robes harshly, and looked back at Fred with distain.

“He likes you,”

He turned and slumped on his robes, fastening the buttons near the top with haste.

“The gunpowder and sweet candy smells,”

Lee and Fred were in disbelief.

“Mate,”

Lee started, edging closer to George,

“You being for real right now?"

George was envious, he knew that, but never was he envious of his brother. There was no reason for it.

“Why wouldn’t I be,”

He asked harshly, watching as the other two shared a concerned look to one another,

“Mate, I don’t wear fruity cologne, nor would I really smell like candy, I’d probably smell like dung bombs to be honest,”

George looked at Fred in confusion,

“You’re not dumb, mate!”

Fred said, throwing his arms out,

“I know you aren’t, so think!”

George paused, eyes falling to the ground. He thought, then brought his head up,

“I dunno,”

“YOU!! He likes you!!”

“What?-“

“Are you this blind?!”

Lee and Fred said in unison as the other three entered the room.

“You two don’t have on your robes, come on!!”

Angelin strode in, wacking both Lee and Fred and forcing them into their robes. Orion walked in and sat in his place, placing his head on his knees, hiding his face. George sunk back into the seat in front of the other boy, glancing at him every few seconds. Serina switched places with Angelina, as well as Fred switching places with Lee. Serina leaned on Orion, throwing an arm around him. George was agitated again. He looked to Fred, who was looking at Hogwarts with Angelina, and then to his lap. It was gonna be a wild year.
