Captain: The barbecue is at 3 but if anyone would like to come a little earlier to help set up it would be much appreciated

[Techno is staring into the camera with an unimpressed look on his face as he prepares some baked potatoes]
Sunshine: It’s like he’s got some kind of sixth sense when it comes to potatoes, Caspian just took the bag out to wash them when Techno showed up
BloodGod: They are good
Feathers: No one's arguing with you on that but your devotion to them is a little strange
HellsReject: Says the girl who eats sand
Feathers: Sand is so good! None of you understand me!
Blossom: Of course sweetie
Feathers: Anyway, I’ll be going over to help as well!
Money: So you can try and bribe Nyx into picking you as her favourite?
Feathers: …
Fireborn: Ha! Drag her ass, Bastian!
Captain: Well the help is appreciated Sally but unfortunately Nyx isn’t here currently
CrowFather: Oh?
Sunshine: Callum took her with him to pick up some snacks for the party
Feathers: Damn
Thorns: You can’t bribe the child Sally
Feathers: I can try
BloodGod: And you will fail
Feathers: Techno! I can’t believe my own brother would betray me in such a way
BiggestMan!: Get wrecked, Sally!
Callum rolled his eyes fondly as he briefly read through the chat before glancing down at Nyx who was very dutifully carrying a grocery bag that had three bags of chips in it, she had insisted on helping so he gave her the lightest bag and the proud smile on her face as she carried it melted his heart.
“Are you excited about the barbecue, Kit?” He asked and she flashed him a bright grin as she nodded eagerly.
“It’s going to be so much fun!” She gushed which made him smile warmly down at her.
“If it isn’t the fake boy, I didn’t know they let freaks like that wonder around” A familiar voice sneered from behind them which made Callum bristle slightly as he turned around and came face to face with Gregory White and his group of sycophants.
“What do you want Gregory?” He questioned blandly and Gregory glared at him.
“That little stunt your cousin pulled got my dad and the school in a lot of trouble so I think I’m going to make you pay for it” He stated with a cruel smirk on his face while his cronies circled them, Callum eyed them briefly only to scoff as he glanced back at Gregory.
“Techno did nothing wrong and besides he wasn’t the only one who came forth about what your dad did, but then again, you would never blame Briar for anything would you? Not with that obvious crush of yours. I suppose the saying like father like son is very applicable here” He remarked smugly which made Gregory bristle in anger before he snarled furiously and punched him in the gut making him cry out in pain.
“Papa!” Nyx shrieked only to be grabbed by one of Gregory’s buddies before she could move closer.
“I’m going to make you regret ever being born” Gregory growled before punching Callum in the face sending him sprawl to the floor where Gregory and some of his buddies began kicking him relentlessly.
“Leave Papa alone right now!” Nyx cried out as she struggled desperately only to cry out in pain when the guy holding her twisted her arm back.
“Shut up you little brat” He hissed venomously which just made Nyx sob harder.
Callum desperately tried to sit up but the blows just kept coming and he could feel his vision fading in and out. Tears streamed down his face as his eyes locked on his daughter wishing above all else that he could help her but he was completely helpless.
“Leave them alone!” A familiar voice commanded and while the guy's kicking Callum didn’t react the guy holding Nyx cried out in pain as he was punched in the face forcing him to let go of the little girl as he fell to the ground.
This caught everyone's attention and while the group kicking him was distracted Callum lifted his head to see who had come to save him only for his eyes to widen in shock as he saw who it was that was standing protectively in front of Nyx.
“I’m giving you only one chance to leave now or you will regret it” Logan growled as he stared the group down with his eyes blazing in fury.
