Apologies
Callum struggled to sit up as he watched in shock as Logan went on the offensive and started fighting Gregory and his cronies on his own, and he was winning! All that time sparring with Dawn and Soren had paid off.
“Papa!” Nyx called out as she rushed to his side and he quickly pulled her close to shield her in case anyone turned their attention back towards them.
“Sweetie, are you alright?” He asked urgently and she nodded her head as she snuggled close.
“I’m okay Papa” She said softly and he let out a relieved sigh before glancing back towards the fight.
“You're a freak, Walker!” Gregory growled as he spat out some blood.
“Are you going to leave? Or do I need to knock the message in further?” Logan questioned harshly and Gregory hesitated for a moment before gesturing for his buddies to leave.
“You won’t always be around to protect that thing” He huffed before he turned to leave. Logan stared after him for a moment before turning and rushing towards Callum.
“Are you alright? They didn’t break any of your ribs did they?” He questioned worriedly as his hands hovered awkwardly like he wanted to reach out but wasn’t sure if he should.
“No broken ribs, just a lot of bruising” Callum grunted as he eyed Logan thoughtfully who sighed a bit in relief as he allowed his hands to fall into his lap.
“Who are you?” Nyx questioned as she moved a little closer to Logan who blinked at her in surprise.
“I’m Logan” He said hesitantly which made Nyx tilt her head thoughtfully before her eyes widened in realization.
“You're one of Mama's friends! She has a picture of you, Uncle Sorenn and her in her wallet!” She exclaimed eagerly which made Logan smile fondly.
“I am, it’s nice to meet you Nyx” He said warmly and Nyx beamed brightly before pouncing on him with a hug which startled him a fair bit while Callum stared at him in confusion.
“How do you know…” He began to say only to trail off when he saw the weak grin that Logan was giving him.
“I’ve uh, been lurking in the group chat ever since the… um, incident” He explained uncomfortably as his ears drooped slightly. This made Callum wince slightly as he remembered what his last interaction with the brunette was.
“Callum… I am so unbelievably sorry for what I did, I was just so hurt and angry but that doesn’t excuse what I did. I hurt you and Dawn because of my own selfish wants and nothing I say will ever make up for that but just know that I have regretted that decision every single day since it happened” Logan said somberly as a few tears appeared in the corner of his eyes which made Nyx hug him tighter as she didn’t like seeing people sad.
“I’m not going to say it’s fine because it’s not and I’m not going to say I forgive you because that would be a lie” Callum began to say and Logan nodded a bit in understanding as he ducked his head slightly.
“But thank you, for apologizing and for protecting Nyx and I” He finished warmly which startled Logan a bit before he gave him a small smile.
“It’s the least I could do” He said softly and Callum hummed before tilting his head thoughtfully.
“You should come to the barbeque with us” He finally said which made Logan sputter slightly.
“What?” He questioned baffled.
“If anyone deserves an apology, it’s Dawn. You two need to talk because I know for a fact that she misses you but is still too hurt over what happened to make the first move, which she shouldn’t have to do but your avoiding her has made her think that she does” Callum pointed out sternly which made Logan wilt slightly as he nodded in understanding.
“Your right… I’ll go with you but can you maybe keep Techno and Soren from murdering me before I can apologize?” He requested which made Callum snort in amusement.
“I can try but I make no promises” He remarked which made Logan chuckle a bit while Nyx perked up eagerly.
“You're coming to our barbecue Uncle Logan?” She asked hopefully, which made Logan choke a bit in surprise as he nodded, earning him a nearly blinding smile from Nyx.
“We’re all going to have so much fun!” She gushed brightly which made Callum and Logan smile warmly at her.
“We will indeed Kit, but we better hurry and get back before your Mama starts worrying” Callum remarked and Nyx nodded rapidly before she dutifully picked up her designated bag.
“She’s probably already worrying” Logan remarked offhandedly as he picked up one of the bags. Callum snorted a bit in agreement/amusement as he picked up the remaining bags before the trio headed off towards the Hollows' household.
