Chapter 4
~~Harry~~
A couple weeks after the strange woman came to the house for the first time, she came back. But this time, she was here for him. He was confused when Aunt unhappily called for him. He wasn’t sure why he was being called for since Aunt and Uncle usually wanted him to stay out of sight when others were in the house. That way if he did anything freaky, nobody else would see and ask about it.
When he walked into the hallway where she and Aunt were, she looked the same as when she came the first time. Aunt looked a little worried, though he wasn’t sure why.
“Harry, why don’t you get all your things? We’re going somewhere else,” the woman kindly said to him. He nodded and moved to his cupboard, opening the door and grabbing the small amount of clothing he had as well as his two rescued toys and his rescued book (Dudley was going to throw them away and they were small so he rescued them instead).
He should be more cautious of where this woman would be taking him, but he didn’t really care. There couldn’t be too many places that were worse, and with how unhappy Aunt looked, he was willing to bet that this new place was going to treat him better than she thought he deserved.
Walking back to the woman, Harry carried a little bag with his meagre belongings. She had what looked like a brief look of surprise before she made her face neutral and motioned for Harry to follow her, reaching out for his hand. He hesitantly grabbed it with his own small one, waving briefly at Aunt before turning and leaving with the woman.
Once they were outside, they started to head over to Mrs. Figg’s house. Was he going to live with her? She had a lot of cats and her house always smelled like cabbage. Though it was better than Aunt and Uncle’s house. On the way, the woman started to talk to him.
“Harry, my name is Madam Bones. I’m taking you to some of your family who will treat you better.”
He looked up at her surprised, “I have other family?”
“Yes, through your father.”
“They’re related to my dad?” Harry asked excitedly.
She nodded. “They’re your cousins through him. They fought to have you live with them and won, so you’ll be going to live with them.”
“...Are they nice?” Harry asked, a little unsure. He saw her eyes soften a bit as she looked down at him again.
“They’re very nice, Harry, and they’re very excited to have you live with them.”
He smiled to himself as they finally got to Mrs. Figg’s house and she let them in. They walked over to the fireplace, which had Harry frowning in confusion.
“Now Harry,” Madam Bones said, getting down to his level to talk to him again, “we’ll be traveling a special way to get there. I don’t believe your aunt and uncle told you, but you have magic. I do as well, as did your parents, and the family you’ll be living with.”
Harry’s eyes widened. Magic? He had magic ? How did she know? She said his parents had it too! And so did she! Is that why Harry had done a couple freaky things?
“Magic?” he finally asked, eyes still widened as far as possible. She nodded, smiling a little at him.
“Yes. You’re a wizard.”
He was still shocked and couldn’t say anything else.
“Now, I’m going to take some powder, throw it into the fireplace, and the flames will turn green. Then we’ll walk into it together and I’ll say where we’re going.”
He just nodded along. They were going to travel by fireplace? Like Santa?!
Madam Bones grabbed some powder and threw it into the fireplace and green flames erupted like she said! She grabbed Harry’s arm gently but firmly and they walked in. He closed his eyes tight and she said something before they were whisked away.
When he next opened his eyes, he was in a large beautiful room. There were three people standing there, looking at him and Madam Bones and he felt himself shrink away a little. Then he noticed that the boy was the one who said his name was Draco that he met at the park and he was with his parents!
Harry ran over to Draco just as Draco ran to him and hugged him. Harry wasn’t used to it, but he figured it out pretty quickly and put his arms around Draco as well. He looked up at… Cissa and her husband to see them smiling at him. When he pulled away from Draco he looked over to Madam Bones curiously.
“This is the family you’re going to be living with now. They’re your family.”
He smiled as he turned back to his new friend (brother?) and his parents (were they Harry’s now too?).
“Would you like to see your new room while Lucius and Madam Bones talk about a few more things?” Cissa asked him nicely. Harry was going to have an entire room to himself? He nodded slightly and followed her and Draco as they led him out of the room and through part of what Harry thought was the biggest home he’d ever seen.
They finally arrived at the door to what Harry was told was his new room. When Cissa opened the door, Harry gasped.
The room was so much bigger than his cupboard. Bigger than both of Dudley’s rooms! Aunt and Uncle’s entire first floor was about the same size, and this was only one room. His room.
He walked in slowly, afraid it might disappear. Afraid he was dreaming.

~~Cissa~~
She watched Harry walk slowly into his new room. He seemed… afraid. Like it might not be real or that there was something he’d have to exchange or lose for this. While she could see that childlike trusting nature still in him, it was hidden behind walls those horrid Dursleys had started putting up. She was just happy they were able to get Harry before those walls were finished. This was workable.
She and Draco slowly followed Harry in as he looked around his new room, still keeping a tight hold on his small bag he’d brought with him.
“Now, there’s a bed here and a place for your clothes and toys and all that and a bookshelf for any books. When we go shopping you can pick out anything you want to decorate the room with,” Cissa told Harry, watching as he turned to look at her with wide eyes.
“I can decorate the room? And pick out things for it?” The hopeful tone of his voice nearly broke her heart.
“Of course. It’s your room. Maybe Draco can show you how he’s decorated his if you want some ideas? You can also get more of an idea of some wizarding aspects as well.”
Draco was bouncing with excitement as Harry hesitantly put his bag down and nodded. Her little dragon wasted no time grabbing Harry’s hand and pulling him to the room right next door to show Harry how his room was painted and what he chose to decorate it with. She chuckled and let them know that she’d be going back down to talk with Lucius and Amelia and that if they wanted to come back down before she came up to check on them, Draco knew the way. She wasn’t sure Harry really heard her as he looked around the room mesmerized by everything he saw.
She also realized she should have a nickname for Harry. Draco was her Dragon. What should Harry be? She remembered his father becoming an animagus (he became insufferable once he did and used it in pranks often) so maybe Harry would appreciate the nickname most of them called him when he was a baby and even before he was born. Prongslet was cute and it would offer Harry a connection to James. She knew he needed one right now.
Once she made it back to the sitting room, she saw Lucius and Amelia going through the final paperwork. She came over and signed where she was supposed to in order to complete everything. Afterwards the three of them sat there and discussed a few things. Amelia told them a little more that she’d found out and that Harry hadn’t known anything about his parents, so they’d need to find out what he’d been told. He hadn’t known he’d had magic.
This just made Cissa angrier. Her cousin - son now - had been lied to, neglected, and abused. He wasn’t even 5 yet! And he was so small…
Amelia stayed a little longer before leaving. Cissa and Lucius sat in silence for a moment before sighing and leaning into the other.
“We finally have him,” Cissa said, smiling a little. “We finally got my baby cousin. We need to call a healer to look at him and-”
“Cissa,” Lucius interrupted, looking at her, “we can wait a day. Harry should be able to relax a day in his new home before we start getting into everything. Tomorrow we’ll call a healer to come over and discreetly look at him. I also think his eyes should be looked at so we know if he needs a new prescription. We’ll get him new glasses regardless to replace the broken ones he has. We can then take on different shopping trips in the days following. Small steps. We don’t want to overwhelm him too much.”
“You’re right,” Cissa said while nodding. “I just want to fix everything. He barely brought anything. He can borrow some of Draco’s clothes until we buy him some, but he mustn't have any toys or books with him! I want him to have toys and books and everything he needs to have an actual childhood. Like James and Lily would’ve wanted.”
“Then we’ll do that. And also start looking into Sirius’ innocence. From what I’ve heard, he never had a real trial before being sent to Azkaban, and I think that’s enough for the case to be reopened.”
Cissa looked over at her husband with an open mouth and shock in her eyes. “What?! My beloved cousin was sent to Azkaban without a trial ?! He and Andy are the only family members that have any decency! We need to rectify this! And get in touch with Remus. He should be able to visit Harry. He was a godfather by proxy anyways.”
“Sounds good. Now, why don’t we go check on our little boys?”
She nodded and the two went up to Draco’s room. It was nearing lunch, after all. They knocked and then opened the door to find Harry and Draco playing with some of Draco’s toys, Harry watching in amazement as some of the toys had magic properties.
“Are you two ready for lunch?” Cissa asked, drawing both their attention to them. Draco readily nodded and looked over at Harry, who nodded more hesitantly. From what Cissa and Lucius knew, that made sense (Cissa made a mental note to look into the possibility of having Harry see a mind healer to deal with the trauma of his prior upbringing). They led the two boys downstairs and had their house elves bring their lunch out. She noticed they only stared at Harry a little since they’d been informed of the Malfoys getting custody of a distant family member.
The rest of the day was spent giving Harry a tour of the manor and letting him know that if he needed or wanted anything, all he had to do was ask them. He seemed a bit doubtful at that, but they could work on it. They also told him they’d go out shopping with him in a couple days for some new clothes and toys and things for his room. He looked a bit excited at that when Draco told him he’d help him pick out some cool toys and posters for his room and stuffed animals. Harry smiled at Draco and they played for a bit more in Draco’s room before they fell asleep.
She and Lucius tucked in Draco and then picked up Harry and carried him into his new room, tucking him under the blankets after watching him burrow down into the soft mattress and pillows. Cissa smiled and kissed him on the head before she turned on the magical nightlight and she and her husband headed to bed themselves.
She slept well for the first time since Draco had first met Harry.
