Watching over
Remus p.o.v
I Didn’t know how long Sirius was laying lifeless on the bed, it could have been hours, days , weeks. I lost track of time as I watch the love of my life being bedridden, hurt and unconscious. The door opened and I expected either it being Dorcas or Marlene to tell me to get washed up or eat something but instead it was the youngest black brother. “Regulus.” I breath out standing up to pull him in a hug “You are awake and okay, I'm so glad you are okay.”
“I am all good.” Regulus accepted the embrace and hugged me back before eyeing me up and down “You on the other hand look terrible.”
“I couldn’t just leave him.” I tell him trembling “I couldn’t.”
“I understand.” Regulus says “but he will be so mad at you for neglecting your own health to sit by his bed. He will feel guilty about it, you know how Sirius is.”
“I can’t.” I look down “I can’t let him out of my sight.”
“Remus, go eat and take a shower.” Regulus stares me down “I will be here and watch over my brother.”
“But.”
“None of that.” Regulus shakes his head “You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of Sirius. Now go, I am here.”
“I will be back in five minutes.”
“Take your time.” He tells me “Please if not for him than take care of yourself for me. I can’t stand seeing my friend wither away.”
“I am not your responsibility.” I tell him.
“No but you are my friend.” He answers “and I am allowed to worry about you. Did you know what Sirius asked me before both of us passed out.”
“no.” I bit my lip looking as Sirius his lifeless body.
“He told me that I should tell you that he loves you and was sorry for not honouring his promise to you.” Regulus gave me a soft smile “In what he thought where his last moments he thought of you, he needed me to tell you that he loved you. He explicit stated that I needed to make sure, you wouldn’t lose yourself when he had passed. “
I felt my heart break “I love him too, more than my own life.”
“I know that and so does Sirius.” Regulus nods “So do what he asks and take care of yourself, take that shower and make sure you eat something.”
“You are right, thank you for saving him.”
Regulus raised his eyebrow “How did you know.”
“You wouldn’t let go of your brother without a fight.” I give him a small smile “we all know you saved Sirius but we can’t figure out how.”
“it’s not that big a secret.” Regulus smiles timidly “But Sirius should be the first to know after that I will tell all of you.”
“promise you stay at his side until I return.”
“Go Remus, you stink.”
“I am glad you are my friend Reg.” I tell him “Even though you insulted me quite a few times.”
“That is what friends are for.” Regulus winks “We have to call each other out on bullshit.”
“I will be back soon.”
