Sirius and James were more than best friends, they were brothers so when Sirius walked into the potters house on October 31st and saw his lifeless body on the stairs he fell to the ground.
His brother, his best friend was dead.
Sirius didn't know what to do, he cant live without James, there was no way.
He had already lost regulus and that hurt him but losing James as well made him want to die.
