Their Second Chance - Part One
Summary
When Dumbledore gives Cassiopeia and Harry a choice to go back and continue fighting in the War or to get on a train and move on from the fighting, the twins make a choice. Will they make the same friends? Will they allign themselves with their enemies? Will they still become part of the Golden Quartet? Will Harry finally act on the crush he's had for seven years? Will Cassie still be the shy girl she used to be?
Note
The idea of a fic where Harry goes back from the train station after talking with Dumbledore with the Horcrux Voldemort and changes his life comes from 'Feels Like We Had Matching Wounds' (while reading the first chapter, I wanted to write my own version including Harry's twin and Regulus as their Blood Adoptive Father who dated James and Lily in secret). 😀

Chapter 1

Harry and I walked into the clearing. I kept my left hand in my pocket touching The Resurrection Stone and The Invisibility Cloak. Harry and I had come to the conclusion that he owns The Resurrection Stone, as it had been left to him by Dumbledore in his Will in the Snitch he caught during our first Quidditch match, and I own The Invisibility Cloak, as the eldest of the two of us, and The Elder Wand Voldemort currently has in his hand, as Dumbledore owned it before Draco disarmed him and I disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor. Knowing this, Harry gifted me with The Resurrection Stone. Once I get my hands on The Elder Wand, as it's rightfully mine, I'll become the Mistress of Death. Harry tried calling it Master of Death still but it just didn't feel right. "Harry Potter and Cassiopeia Potter, the Twins-Who-Lived, come to die," Voldemort said as Bellatrix grinned next to him. It's a shame she's on the other side. She's so hot.

"So, since you're gonna kill us and there's nothing we can do to change that," I said. "Can I just say a few things first?" Everyone, inculding Harry, looked at me in shock. I was usually really quiet and shy. I hardly ever talked back or asked questions. I've spoken more in the last few days than I have the last two years.

"I don't see why not," Voldemort said.

"What happened to you?" I asked him.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, Harry and I met teenage Tom Riddle through the Diary and he was really hot, and I'm gay so that's saying something, but you... You've got no hair, no eyebrows, no nose and, I know you're poor and all, but you've been living on the Malfoys' money so how can you still not afford to buy shoes? I mean like... No one wants to see your manky ass toenails. Like, come on!" Everyone was staring at me in shock.

"Cassie!" Harry admonished.

"What, Harry? He's gonna kill us anyway. I've been wondering for years since he came out of that cauldron what happened to him? Like... Does coming back to life mean you have to forfeit your nose or something? Where did it go?" Voldemort looks pissed. "I mean, well done for defeating us, though." Everyone looked shocked again. "It only took you 16 years to defeat a couple of children. Good on you for finally managing it. It took you over a decade and a half and us surrendering but you still did it!"

"The Hell is this coming from, Cassie!?" Harry asked.

"What? He has no idea and neither do you."

"No idea of what, Cassie?"

"How similar the three of us are." Voldemort snorted.

"You think you two are similar to me?" He asked and the Death Eaters chuckled a little.

"I know we are. The three of us are Half-Bloods who grew up with abusive Muggles who were manipluated by Dumbledore into a situation where violence is the only way out."

"Dumbledore didn't manipulate us!" Harry hissed while Voldemort looked contemplative for a moment before shaking it off.

"Doesn't matter," he said before pointing The Elder Wand at us. My right hand found Harry's left and they glowed blue, just like in our memories of when we were hit with The Killing Curse after our Mother's death. This time, the Curse hit Harry instead of me. Everything went black for a few moments before I opened my eyes to bright white everywhere. I found Harry on the floor next to me and helped him up after standing up myself.

"Is that a bench?" Harry asked as we looked around. I turned around to where Harry was looking and nodded at him.

"Yes, it is, Harry," I said. Harry and I walked over to it and heard a weird noise coming from underneath the bench so we both kneeled down and looked under the bench. I reeled back when I spotted the same weird, ugly thing that Pettigrew had dumped into the cauldron after murdering Cedric. Only this time, there were two hugging each other. I saw Harry do the same next to me. It was a bloodied weird-baby thing version of Voldemort.

"You can't help him," I heard Dumbledore say and I turned to face him. I saw Harry do the same after a moment. "Harry, Cassiopeia." I scowled at the use of my full name.

"Don't call me Cassiopeia." Harry shot me a pitying look when he noticed I'd paraphrased Dora... I miss Dora so much. Dora and I... Had a complicated relationship. We were together the summer before my fifth year but broke up due to our long-distance relationship not working. Finding out that her and Remus were together, and then that they'd gotten married and had a Son who they'd name Harry and I Godparents for, had really hurt but seeing Dora's dead body, her hand mere centimeters from Remus', had broken me earlier today.

"You wonderful children," Dumbledore said, ignoring my words as he came closer while Harry and I stood up. "You brave, brave people... Let us walk." He turned around and started walking away. Harry followed and, despite not wanting to be anywhere near Dumbledore, I followed too.

"Professor, what is that?" Harry asked.

"Something beyond all of our help," Dumbledore said.

"What? Nothing's ever beyond help. You said it yourself before--"

"A part of Voldemort sent here to die," Dumbledore said, cutting me off and ignoring me once more. He always favoured Harry and ignored me but this is taking it too far. I turned away and stormed back over to the ugly, baby Voldemorts. I picked one up and placed it next to me. I felt... Connected... To it in a way. Why do I... Oh! Two Voldemorts and then Harry and I... They've got to be the Horcrux Voldemorts that were inside of us. Harry came back over and seemed angrier than usual.

"Harry?"

"He said instead of 'Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it', it should be changed to 'Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserve it' like I hadn't spent our entire fifth year asking him for help with him ignoring me," Harry said, seething.

"Maybe you should've done what I did and steered clear of him instead," I suggested as Harry picked up the other ugly, baby Voldemort. He seemed to calm a little with it in his arms.

"He always ignored you too. When I asked him why he didn't help, if he thought we didn't deserve his help he said 'I always helped you in ways you need, Harry'. He didn't say anything about you! Then, he said 'Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living and, above all, all those who live without love.'"

"What? But Tom Riddle lived without love his whole life! He had no one! Is he suggesting we pity the person he wants us to defeat and still defeat him!?"

"Cassie... What did you mean by that comment about Dumbledore manipulating us?" I told Harry extensively about why I thought Dumbledore had been manipulating us. I pointed out how the stuff protecting the Stone were way too easy to be anything but a test and how Dumbledore chose to fly to the Ministry instead of Flooing from his office when he knew someone was trying to steal the Stone, how Dumbledore was at Hogwarts when the Chamber was last opened and knew Myrtle had died from the Monster but someone, with 50 years to research, still never found out what the Monster was or where the entrance was when a group of second years figured it out in less than a year. Then, I pointed out all the protections and Dementors to protect against Sirius yet nothing to stop Animagi from getting in despite illegal Animagi being a thing, Dumbledore asking if Harry had someone else put his name in the Goblet making it clear that all that was needed to get past the Age Line was for someone of age to enter someone else's name, Dumbledore pushing for everyone to know that Harry and I were saying Voldemort was back despite knowing it was isolating us after already having been isolated all summer on his orders, allowing Umbridge to teach despite Hogwarts being out of the Ministry's control since Fudge had no influence over Dumbledore at that point. Then, I told Harry about how Dumbledore never notified parents/guardians about what happened each year to keep the press from finding out and tricked the students into not talking about it because they believed their parents/guardians already knew and how Dumbledore had a Werewolf teacher around students but didn't ensure said Werewolf teacher took his Wolfsbane Potion and I pointed out about how he manipulated us into hating Snape while Snape had only tried to protect us because he loved our Mother while Dumbledore still manipulated Snape himself with Snape's love for our Mom.

"See, Harry? Dumbledore manipulated and used everyone. He even isolated Tom when he was a kid after the whole Chamber incident and even before then, he was cautious and careful around Tom because he'd hurt kids who had hurt him. If we'd fought back against Dudley and his gang or the Dursleys, would he've treated us the same? I know he would've with me given how he already treated me..."

"I'm sorry I never stood up for you against Dumbledore, Cassie," Harry said with a sad look on his face.

"It's okay, Harry. He was your hero. I don't blame you."

"Well, Dumbledore said we don't have to go back. We can just move on..."

"I don't want to go back, Harry. I'm tired of fighting a War I don't believe in. I don't even like Muggles and Muggleborns, other than Hermione! All the Muggles we've ever met have been horrible to us! And the Muggleborns are the ones who isolated us after announcing Voldemort was back, more so than the Half-Bloods and Purebloods, and they isolated us more than the Purebloods and Half-Bloods during the Triwizard Tournament too!"

"Cassie... I didn't know you felt that way... I do too," Harry said and I looked at him in shock.

"Oh, really? The Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter, is a Muggle-hater!?" I fake gasp in shock. "The scandal! Oh!" Harry and I chuckled.

"So... We take a train then?" Harry asked and I nodded before looking at the ugly, baby Voldemort next to me.

"Do we bring them with us?"

"I can't see why not." Harry and I walked over to stand next to some train tracks with the ugly, baby Voldemorts, in our arms. A few moments later, a pure white version of The Hogwarts Express came over and we got on. Everything went black again.

...

I opened my eyes and saw my cupboard. Harry was squished next to me and only just waking up too. "Harry! Harry! Look where we are!"

"No way!" Harry thought.

"Harry? How can I hear you in my head?"  I asked him and his eyes went wide.

"I don't know. I can hear you in my head too!"

"You can hear each other because of me," I heard Voldemort whisper in my mind and, given the way Harry's eyes went even wider, Harry heard him too. "The three of us are linked thanks to my Horcruxes and your choices to bring them with you on that train."

"Why are we back in our cupboard?" Harry asked.

"And why does Harry look like a pre-teen again?" I asked.

"You do too, Sis," Harry thought.

"I don't know. I do know, however, that my other Horcruxes are fine and I am the Horcruxes I created in you two. Despite you each having one, they seem to have bonded. I am now one Horcrux but split between you. I see through both of you," Voldemort hissed.
