~~~~~~~~~~~~Sophie’s POV~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Good afternoon class, my name is Professor Galvin, I expect you all to succeed in my class and if not,” she shrugged, “Now to start we’re going over how to make different potions with dragon’s blood, we’re also going to be concocting a potion as well.”
Sophie was seated with her fellow classmates, including Biana, Dex, and the Song twins.
After Professor Galvin went over uses of dragon blood she flicked her wand and ingredients appeared infront of all the students.
Students followed the instructions in their potions book and just when Sophie thought everything was going well, Professor Galvin stopped to observe her work. Sophie added too much of an ingredient and the potion began to bubble up.
Sophie attempted to avoid the explosion but drops splattered upon her arm, causing burns. The explosion reached Galvin’s cape and set it on fire. Sophie mumbled a curse and reached for her wand. The professor beat her to it though, pointing her wand at the fire and extinguishing it. Her cape was almost fully burnt off.
Galvin stared at her, a menacing look in her eyes before sighing, “Are you hurt?”
Sophie nodded slowly, “I’m so sor—“
“Hospital wing! Now!” Professor Gavin yelled, pointing at the door.
“Yes professor.” Sophie dashed out of the classroom as quickly as possible. She tried to find the hospital wing but there was one problem, she didn’t know where it was.
(A.N- I know y’all know where I’m going with this.)
“You must be lost.”
Sophie turned to see a blonde boy, Keefe from the sorting ceremony, sitting on a marble bench.
“I-er-Yeah I am.” Sophie stammered.
“Where you heading?” He asked, standing up from the bench.
“Th-The hospital wing, I burned my arm in potions.”
Keefe’s eyes trailed to her arm, “Oh I see, Professor Galvin?”
Sophie nodded.
He smirked, “Did you get her?”
“I-I burned her cape off…”
He chuckled, “Her cape!? She loves that thing! Good job—er, what’s your name?”
“Sophie Foster.” She said.
“Foster, I like that, well good job Foster, are you okay?”
Sophie shook her head, “Not really.”
He smiled softly, “Let’s get you to the hospital wing then Foster!”
They walked along side each other and Sophie had to admit, he was quite handsome. Tall too, much taller than her. His ice blue eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as he strut down the hallway in his Slytherin robes. The Slytherin robes looked so natural on him, like he was meant to wear them.
“So Foster, you gonna keep staring or are you ready to have a conversation.” He said, interrupting her thoughts.
“Oh, uh sorry.”
He chuckled, “No big deal, I’ll start. What’s your story?”
“Well, my biological parents dropped me off at a doorstep when I was a newborn. My adoptive parents, Grady and Edaline, raised me as if I was their own. They’re both muggles so I’m normally considered muggle-born.”
“Oh…Man. I didn’t expect that honestly.”
Sophie laughed softly, “No one does when they ask about my family.”
“Hm and you don’t know who your biological parents are?”
“No, I’ve tried to figure it out but no luck.”
Keefe nodded, “I could help you if you’d like.”
“Really? That’d be nice. So, what about your family?” She asked as they hopped onto a moving staircase.
“Oh my family? Okay,” she saw the mischievous glint leave his eyes for a second, “Well my dad is a stuck up old dude who wants me to be just like him. He hates me in pretty much every way and always points out my flaws. Before Hogwarts, he sent me to a really strict boarding school to try and get me to ‘act more mature’. Surprise surprise, that didn’t work. My mom, well she’s not much better but I don’t wanna talk about her.”
Sophie blinked a couple times, “I’m sorry.”
“Foster I wish that would fix it, I really do, but it won’t so I’m just gonna have to deal with it.” Keefe said, his smirk making his way back to his face.
“Uh—“
Keefe laughed, “I ruined the mood didn’t I? How about something more fun, have any other friends yet?”
“I met this guy named Fitz the other day and his older brother Alvar.” Sophie said, stumbling on a step.
“The Vackers! Have you met Biana yet?”
“No but Fitz and Alvar were complaining about her not being sorted into Gryffindor.”
Keefe rolled his eyes, “Oh they’re so dramatic! She’s the first Vacker in years to be sorted into a different house! I think that’s awesome.”
Sophie giggled, “It sounds like it’s a good thing, makes her more unique.”
“Definitely,” Keefe stopped in front of yet another large door, “Well Miss Foster, we’re here.”
She actually felt pretty disappointed that they were at the hospital wing. She was really enjoying their conversation.
“Nice meeting you Sophie, you should sit with me and the others at lunch.” Keefe said, opening the door.
Sophie nodded enthusiastically, “Actually? I would love to, thank you.”
But when she turned around he was gone.
