Disappointment
~~~~~~~~~~~~Biana’s POV~~~~~~~~~~~~
A disappointment is what she was. Anyone would agree. Especially her brothers. As soon as Ravenclaw’s prefect led everyone to their laboratory’s, Biana broke down crying under her bed sheets.
She had to be better, she had to be re-sorted, she was going to get in trouble for sure.
Even though she wasn’t aware if she was allowed to leave her room late at night, she decided to go calm down by the fire side.
What if I’m not good enough? Biana thought to herself, Am I not a proper Vacker, not worthy for Gryffindor?
A tap on her shoulder interrupted her thoughts. Biana turned to face a strawberry blonde boy.
“Hi, you seem to be lost in thought. I, uh, came down to do some tinkering in private but since you’re here do you, er, mind if I ask your name?” The boy walked around the couch to sit on the cushion next to her, “I’m Dex by the way, Dex Dizznee.”
Biana smiled and held out her hand for him to shake, “Biana Vacker.”
“A Vacker? In Ravenclaw!? Aren’t you supposed to be in Gryffindor like all the others?”
“That’s what I’ve been asking myself.” Biana mumbled bitterly, “I don’t actually know how I ended up here.”
Dex nodded, “So…What’s it like being a Vacker?”
“It’s exactly how the articles say it is, exactly how you would imagine it.”
“Absolutely perfect?”
“Yep.”
Dex leaned back on the couch and a strong silence fell over the two. Biana stared at the fire before standing up, “It was nice to meet you Dex, see you in class.”
“Yeah, hopefully.” Dex nodded at her as she walked up the stairs to the first year girls laboratory. Before she made it all the way up the stairs she caught a glimpse of Dex pulling machine parts from his robe pockets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Fitz’s POV~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was seething. The sorting had to be wrong, there was no way Biana was a Ravenclaw! It was impossible! He couldn’t handle it, he couldn’t even sleep so he got out of bed and left the common room.
Fitz stormed to the Headmaster’s office, “Professor McGonagall! Is there anyway to change my sister’s sorting?” He called as he stepped into the office to find Professor McGonagall sitting at her desk, likely doing paperwork.
McGonagall looked up from her papers and adjusted her glasses, “Ah, Mr. Vacker, I should’ve expected this. No, there is no way to re-sort a student after the sorting hat has already chosen Biana’s house there is no going back.”
Fitz’s ears were practically emitting smoke, “Why not!? She doesn’t belong in Ravenclaw!”
“The sorting hat believes otherwise young man, and perhaps Miss Biana as well.”
“W-What? No no no, she definitely does not believe that! She knows that not being a Gryffindor is practically a crime for Vackers! I guarantee my dad is already sending a howler her way and as much as I would hate for that to happen for her, it wouldn’t happen if you were able to change her house!” He argued loudly.
McGonagall sighed and took her glasses off, setting them down on the desk, “Mr. Vacker, I don’t appreciate your tone, you’re speaking to your headmistress. Understand that I have the power to expel you.”
Fitz groaned, “Sorry, sorry, I just don’t understand!”
“It can be hard to understand the sorting hat, young man but its choices are important for the future and the present. Now, you and I both should get to bed, got that Mr. Vacker?”
He was silent for a second, “Yes Professor McGonagall.”
Fitz returned to the first year boy’s laboratory defeated and after much tossing and turning he finally fell asleep.
