Last Day
Remus knew this was his last day.
The cancer had only gotten worse and everyone knew he was bound to die sometime soon.
But the second he woke up he felt different, like a shift in his heart. He knew this was the last day to live life.
He slowly came downstairs, coughing whilst doing so until he saw Sirius on the couch.
"Hey love."
Sirius turns around and jumps up to help Remus. Remus could tell from his eyes that Sirius knew it was his last day. Everything just felt different.
"Anything you want to do today?"
Remus shakes his head and Sirius nods slowly. "Stay home with you, maybe James and Lily can come round for a bit?"
Sirius nods, knowing Remus wants to say goodbye.
He wipes a tear hoping Remus wouldn't see and went to find his phone to call them.

Remus was expecting to be more tired on his death day, every ounce of energy stripped from him.
But it was more the opposite, his body giving out every bit of energy he had left to make his last day alright.
He knew the second he closed his eyes that night he'd be gone.
When James and Lily came Remus was lay in bed and Sirius was sat on an armchair watching.
"Hey Remus." Lily says quietly and hugs him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. She held the hug longer than usual.
They talked about the Potter's plans, then their wedding was mentioned.
"We really want you and Sirius to come, even though it'll be in Greece."
But Remus shakes his head slowly, he sees Sirius' eyes are red as he leaves the room.
"I won't be here then Lily, I- this is me saying goodbye."
Lily shakes her head in denial, sitting on Remus' bed looking at him. "No, no you'll be there Remus, I know you will."
Remus' eyes well up and James puts a hand on Lily's shoulder. "Lov-"
"I'll be gone by tomorrow Lily."
She shakes her head standing up from the bed, tears streaming as she storms out of the room. Similarly to Sirius.
"It's okay mate, I know you've tried." James says and sits by Remus "We love you so fucking much."
Tears trickle down his face but gives Remus a reassuring smile.
"Please take care of Sirius for me."
James immediately nods his head and hugs Remus tightly.

The Potter's left an hour later, after Lily had said her proper goodbyes.
Sirius lay with his head on Remus' chest. "I feel nothing, absolutely nothing, like I'm the dying one."
Remus strokes his hair slowly. "Please take care of yourself Sirius, I'm worried for you."
Sirius sniffs, tear staining Remus' tshirt. "I'm scared for me too."

Sirius felt a drop in his heart when he realized how late it was 00.21. He knew he didn't have long left with Remus.
They lay next to eachother in bed. Remus noticing how awful he was feeling, but didn't want to scare Sirius.
"I love you so much, thank you for taking care of me these last few years."
Sirius shakes his head. "Don't thank me, in sickness and in health right?"
Remus nods and pulls Sirius into his chest. They stayed like that for a long time, until Sirius felt Remus' chest stop moving.
Sirius froze himself before pulling himself from Remus in a panic.
"No no no, no Remus please." He mutters tears falling down like never before.
"No please! Please wake up." He begs feeling everything in his body just drop ontop of Remus. Wishing he had cherished every last minute with him.
He stays bawling on Remus' body, wishing so hard he was just dreaming.
He reaches for his phone, seeing it was 03.45. He dials James.
"James, James he's gone, he's fucking gone." He bawls into the phone.
James feels his throat tighten. "Sirius I'm on my way okay, I'll be five minutes."
"I can't do this James, I can't live without him!"
"Yes you can and you will, that's what Remus would want you to do okay?"
Sirius doesn't answer, James just listens to his cries in bed untik he pulls up to the house. Using the spare key he runs upstairs to pull Sirius into a hug.
"We'll be okay Sirius." They lay on the ground of now only Sirius' bedroom together. "Let's go back to mine okay?"
Sirius agrees and nods slowly. "Let me say bye?"
James nods and slowly leaves the room.
Sirius walks over to Remus' lifeless body, and gives him a kiss on his head.
"Thank you for giving me the perfect life, perfect love. I'll love you forever okay? And we'll meet again soon. I promise."
Sirius kisses his hand and leaves the room feelinf numb.
