Communication
Communication is always key for a healthy relationship. Wether it's during a fight, sharing insecurities, or feeling unsure in general.
In the Lupin-Black household, one partner is better at communicating than the other.
"Hey love, why don't you come down and we can talk about it?" Remus asks through the bedroom door.
He knew he could walk right in since the door wasn't locked, but he wanted to respect Sirius' space.
"Just fuck off for a moment Remus." Sirius snaps through the door.
Remus was taken aback by the language, but remembers it's Sirius and he doesn't really mean it.
"I'll be downstairs okay text or call me love."
Remus heads downstairs to start some dinner for them, still a bit unsure as to what had happened at work with Sirius.
Sirius came storming home that afternoon threw his bags to the side and ignored Remus. A small toddler tantrum if you were to ask Remus...
But that's how Sirius is, so Remus lets him be.
An hour later Remus was plating their dinner and he hears footsteps coming down the stairs.
Remus gives Sirius a soft smile and watches him walk over the kitchen to help set the dining table.
"Sorry for snapping, wanted to take it back the second I said it." Sirius mutters and gives Remus a small hug before sitting down to eat.
"It's okay I know you're sorry, want to tell me what happened?"
Sirius shrugs and stabs at his food. But feels Remus' soft eyes on him.
"People were just rude at work, fucking homophobes."
Remus looks down at his food at the mention of homophobia, it was a tough subject for them.
"They saw my ring and asked about my 'wife' and when I corrected them they said I needed to go to church and stuff."
Remus reaches over and takes Sirius' hand in his as he was listening to him talk.
"And then it happened again with another person! They saw my pride pin, called me a faggot and that I'll go to hell." Sirius says annoyed.
"I don't normally care that much, but it just got to me today, reminded me if my mum." He continued
Remus ditches his food and walks around to pull Sirius into a hug. He gives him small pecks and looks him in the eyes.
"I'm so sorry Sirius, should tell them to fuck off next time, otherwise your big bad wolf husband will come and beat them up."
Sirius laughs and slaps Remus' arm first being silly and they both sit down again.
"But jokes aside next time don't shut youself out okay? I'm always here for you."
Sirius nods, he knew Remus loved him way too much.
"Thank you, I love you."
Remus grins. "I love you most."
