Goldfish
Sirius couldn't sleep, turning back and forth for hours. He could have cuddles up to Remus, but they hadn't done that in a while.
Money was a terrible thing that ruins a lot of relationships, including Remus' and Sirius'.
Sirius lays his hand on his naked thigh in attempt to fall asleep, but feeling the cold wedding ring just made things worse.
It has been like this for two months, they both hated it.
Sirius slips out of bed, grabbing his phone, a midnight snack never fails to help fall asleep.
Once down in the kitchen he notices they don't have that many unnecessary snacks laying around, right the money problem.
But he does find some goldfish and starts snacking on them. After half an hour he hears Remus pad down the stairs to the kitchen.
What would he say? Well, it's not like they're not talking, just not doing anything couples would do anymore. Cuddle in bed, go on dates, have sex, kiss, any physical touch at all, say I love you.
"Everything alright?"
Sirius turns around to see Remus standing there kinda awkwardly, Sirius just nods. "Yeah, want some?"
Remus spots the goldfish bags and nods slowly, maybe this was their chance to talk. They sit next to eachother on the island eating the goldfish quietly.
"You just weren't in bed, and you didn't come back for a while I just had to check you were okay"
Sirius nods slowly, noticing that Remus did still care for him. "I'm okay, just couldn't sleep"
Remus understands, "You should have woken me"
Sirius shrugs, handing Remus the goldfish, he didn't have an appetite anymore. "Didn't want to bother you"
"You could never bother me Sirius"
Sirius smiles to himself and dares to sit closer to Remus so their sides were touching, he hesitates but rests his head on Remus' shoulder.
They sit in silence, comfortable silence. Both thinking of the past months, how it never should have happened.
"I'm sorry we ended like this" Sirius mutters, Remus waits before shaking his head gently.
"We haven't ended, this is just part of marriage, yes it's hard, we could have avoided it. But it happened and I would love if we could slowly fix things"
Sirius nods, Remus didn't want them to end.
"I would love that too"
Remus smiles and kisses Sirius' forehead. "We'll start tomorrow, Saturday treat out for ice cream"
Sirius giggles and nods his head approvingly. "Yes definitely"
Remus smiles and jumps off the island picking Sirius up, he screams slightly as Remus carries him upstairs bridal style, just like he did on their wedding.
Remus lays Sirius gently in bed and he wraps his arms around Sirius. Giving him small cheek kisses before saying good night.
Sirius fell asleep in a matter of minutes.
