It breaks my heart to write this. I honestly hope you never have to read it, but in case the worst does happen. I'm sorry.
I'm going to get the facts out first. I hate having to dump this on you but in a worst case scenario someone needs to know.
I found Regulus. He is alive and he is working to kill Voldemort. He asked for help so I'm doing what I can.
The problem is that at the moment Voldemort is immortal. He has made things called Horcruxes where he had split his soul and placed the shards into objects. Regulus found what he put them in.
There are five. A ring, a locket, the cup of Helga Hufflepuff, a book of some kind and the lost Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw. Reggie has the first two already.
If your reading this then I am probably dead, and there is a chance that Regulus is too. If Reggie is dead then I most definitely am, I made an unbreakable vow that I wouldn't let him die trying to end this war. I know that will probably make you angry, sorry.
That said, if Regulus is dead too then someone will need to know how to destroy the Horcruxes and Voldemort. If he is still alive he will need help to finish this.
To that end I made him make a portkey. It's tucked away in the stones at 50.16103°N - 5.54022°W. A quick revelio will show you where. The portkey is set to work only at your touch. It will take you to Reggie's safehouse where all his research and the collected Horcruxes are.
Again, I'm sorry to put this on you.
Now that's out of the way I have so much I want to tell you that I cannot possibly put it all in this letter.
You are the love of my life. I hate myself that I fought it for so long when we were in school. I could of had you for so much longer, and I should have cherished every minute.
I never deserved you, but I'm eternally grateful that you chose me. I wish I could have given you the world, though I can hear you now telling me you like your world the way it is and you don't need anything else. You already had me. Sap.
Really though, you deserved better from me. Not the lying and secrets I left you with. So I'll tell you a secret now. I want to marry you Remus. I want to be yours with every part of me, physically, mentally and legally, yours. I wanted to grow old with you, have a full and happy life by your side.
I curse the universe where that can't happen. I'm sorry.

If there is an afterlife I'll be waiting for you there, for us to be together again. Just, please don't waste this life. I want you to try to be happy even if I can't be there to melt with every smile you grace the world with.
