he's so cute
With a dramatic sigh Sirius threw his head back as if wounded.
"He's so cute." he complained to James who sipped his latte leaving a coffee mustache behind on his top lip. Which he promptly licked off.
"I know." Jame said patting his friend with knowing expression.
"And I'm so stupid!"
"No you're no-" James began before he was quickly cut off by the voice of Sirius' brother.
"Yes you are."
Sirius swiftly flipped his brother off and Regulus took no time to do the same before pulling a chair to sit with them.
The bakery had a calming air to it. The smells of croissants, eclairs, pies and other goods wafting through the air giving it a comforting feel.
Sunlight poured the windows certainly a contrast to the weather only the day before. It had been a crisp morning and he and James had decided to meet at his bakery for their usual catch-up chat.
As much as Sirius adored his best-friend and would do anything for him, Sirius wasn't a fan of early mornings. And James being James had asked to meet at eight o'clock in the morning. Leaving Sirius feeling rather groggy and grumpy.
"Listen," James began "I think that maybe you shouldn't be so hard on yourself y'know? I mean I did plenty of stupid things to impress Reggie."
"Some more stupid than others." grumbled Sirius thinking back to the time James had wanted to prove to Regulus that he wasn't a lightweight and had gotten so drunk he fell down a flight of stairs and had gotten a concussion. Sirius caught himself smiling at the memory.
They chatted for the rest of the morning until it was time for Sirius' shift at eleven.
Marlene was first to greet him. Marlene was one of his favoured co-workers due to her banter-like humour and all around good nature. It was easy to talk to Marlene making her a good friend through and through Sirius thought.
"Hiya Siri, you got money on your card today?" she said with a shit-eating grin.
Sirius rolled his eyes in response.
His first client was one of Reggie's friends who was also a regular costumer.
He huffed out a breath nefore saying hello.
"Hi Barty, what design are looking for today?"
Barty was what someone would call an extremist. Because Barty felt things in absolute extremes. When he was happy he was manic and when he normal he was out of his fucking mind. It seemed to Sirius that the only thing keeping him sane was his boyfriend Evan, who was slightly less extreme than Barty and far more logical. After they spoke about the design and were happy with it Sirius made sure there were no cuts on Barty's arm then put rubbing alcohol on his before starting withe ink. They kept a light conversation as he worked.
"So why are you getting the crack fairy meme as a tattoo again?"
"Just felt like it."Barty replied, his free hand playing with his unruly hair.
"But why?"
"But why not?"
"You're so annoying."
"YoU'rE sO AnNoYiNg." Barty mimicked.
Sirius gave up after that.
Soon enough it was time for his break.
'Thank God' he thought as he sat in the break room before cracking open a can of red bull. He opened his phone and began mindlessly scrolling. Then a thought popped in his head and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't ignore it. Opening up instagram he searched for the name 'Remus' and five profiles popped up. 'Figures' he thought because Remus isnt the most common name although neither is Sirius. He examined each of te profile pictures before he got to the very last one and recognised the face almost instantly. Faster than he'd like to admit he clicked on the profile. His bio read:
23
Londoner
Queer
Likes Books
Although basic it was enough information for Sirius to go red all over. Because now there was a small chance he could get Remus to like him. And even this was enough to make his day. He turned his attention to the photos. The first photo was of him scrolling for books in a library in a grandpa sweater with a cigarette behind his ear and Sirius was convinced he had never seen anything hotter than this.
The second photo was even better. It was of Remus on his birthday holding a candle between his lips with a lighter in hand, wearing a brown leather jacket. Sirius nearly saw the light after that. By the time his break was over Sirius was now fangirling over Remus like a thirteen year old girl. And no matter how hard he tried all he could think of was Remus.
After his shift he and Marlene (or Marls as he called her) walked to his flat. As they walked they talked about Dorcas Marlene's girlfriend who had Marlene looking at her like a lovesick puppy. They talked about how technically water is just boneless ice and how when we read in front of trees we are showing them their dead mates or even siblings. A couple of streets before they reached his flat Marlene asked, "So anything in your love life at the moment?"
"Nah not really." he replied.
"Not really means something though." she said in a sing-song voice. Dammit why did Marlene have to always read between the lines?
"Well I mean there IS someone except i've only had one conversation with them and stalked their instagram."
"Sooo who is it? Please tell me or i'll be as upset as i was when i found out fifty-seven was divisable by nineteen." she gave a dramatic shudder making Sirius laugh.
"Just for reminding me of that, i'm not telling you." he said a grin springing to his lips.
"Oh fuck you with your little secret crush!" she said before giving him a light shove.
They reached his flat quicker than he anticipated and waved good bye to each other as he entered the sleek looking building. Taking the elevator he got to his floor before using his key to et into his flat. He removed his shoes and took a shower before heading to bed. As he lay beneath the covers all he could think of was Remus and he slowly dozed of Remus was the last thing he thought of.
