WTF Marlene
Another day, another visit to the library. Regulus didn’t have much to do, no homework, no anything, so he decided to go to the library just to read. Once he arrives he spots a tall brown haired boy and just as the boy turns around it’s. James Potter. Of course it’s fucking James Potter. Regulus tries to avoid James as much as he can, he sits in a corner of the library with a book hoping there will be no distractions. Just as he thought there was peace, he looks up to see James grinning at him.
James continues to smile but with a slight guilty expression. “Hey Reggie!” Regulus looks up from his book, annoyed. “What do you want, Potter?”
James continues to be all smiley and says. “Well, Sirius told me you’re like an astronomy nerd and I was thinking you could help me with my homework.” James continues grinning however, Regulus just sighs. “You couldn’t ask Lily? I thought she also liked astronomy.” James grits his teeth. “Oooh, yeah. Lily doesn’t really like astronomy that much and she isn’t talking to me right now because of a prank I played on snive-snape.”
James continues talking. “And I just don’t know why, out of all people she chose to be friends with Severus! It’s just so annoying.” James groans. “She could be friends with anybody else but him! Merlin, he pisses me off so much!”
Regulus has had enough of James’ ranting and stops him. “Okay, Potter.I know you have a hatred for Snape but please stop talking for once!”
James quickly covers his mouth will both hands. “Sorry, reg. Anyways, can you pretty please with a cherry on top help with my homework?” Regulus sighs and says. “Fine, but don’t use me for answers.” He looks at James stares and the other boy nods enthusiastically.
“Now listen to what I’m saying and pay attention.” James smiles and replies with. “Okay!” However, this makes Regulus annoyed because of how energetic the boy is.
James tried to listen. He really had but for some reason, he couldn’t help but get lost in he other boys blue eyes that have a tint of grey. Every time James would glance up from his homework, he would notice the dark haired boys features and how he talks about his favourite subject with a slight smile. The boy with the glasses rests his head on the table and Regulus snaps his fingers in James’ face and says. “Oi, I’m not helping you for fun now listen.”
James snaps out of his trance and takes a minute to reply. “Oh yeah, sorry.” He chuckles. There’s silence for a couple of minutes before James starts to speak again. “So Reggie. I gotta go to quidditch practice, oh yeah speaking about quidditch would you like to practice together on the pitch tomorrow?” James grind hopefully.
Regulus’ tone is cold like always and replies. “I’ll think about it.” James grabs his homework and backpack before waving to Regulus as he walks out the library.

Regulus enters his dorm to find Evan and Barty arguing like always but when he closes the door they both fall silent. Barty is the first one to speak up. “So reg.” He clicks his tongue “How was your study date with Potter?” Evan is smirking beside Barty and Regulus replies with. “It was not a study date. He just asked me if I could help him with his astronomy assignment.” Evan buds into the conversation. “Mate, it’s obvious you have a thing for him. Don’t even try to deny it.”
Regulus thinks for a second. “Well…he is a fine bloke, I guess.” Evan snaps. “We knew it! You like James!” Regulus scoffs and exclaims. “I do not like him! Bloody hell…” Barty sighs. “Alright mate, whatever you say.” Regulus is thinking, almost like he’s considering it and Barty obviously calls him out. “I know that look.” He smirks.
Regulus sighs. “I can’t have a thing for him. You both know my brother would kill me.” Barty flops onto he bed beside him “You’ll be fine. Now, tell us more about Potter.” Regulus replies. “Well, he did ask to practice quidditch in the pitch tomorrow.”
The other two boys both exclaim “He did WHAT!”

After quidditch practice James is walking back with Marlene since Sirius got temporarily banned for pulling a prank and got caught. Marlene notices and points it out. “Alright James, whats got you all giddy?” James grins and bites his lip. “Well.” He says. “ think I like a boy.” Marlene’s eyes light up and say says. “And who is this bloke, exactly?” James sighs. “It’s Sirius’ little brother.” The girl stops walking and pauses for a second before speaking again.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I like Regulus.” James blurts out.
Marlene bursts out laughing and tries to catch her breath. “I’m sorry but, Sirius is gonna beat your ass if he finds out.”
“That’s the problem! But Regulus is just so pretty I can’t help myself…” he pauses for a second and then continues.
“He is just so gorgeous. I swear I could get lost in his eyes for eyes they are just so captivating, oh and he’s so rude to me but it’s also so hot at the same time and I think I’m going crazy!” Meanwhile Marlene is laughing her ass off.
“Marlene mate, Stop laughing at me I had to hear you pining over Meadows for a whole year.”
Marlene manages to stop laughing “Okay okay, I’m sorry for laughing at you but Regulus, Really? That’s honestly pathetic.” James looks down. “It’s pathetic?”
“Well yeah.” She replies. “Regulus is a massive twink.”
“Oh, how do you know that?” James says.
“Dorcas told me. Apparently he’s really nerdy and like, doesn’t talk to people much. Expect his friends and Sirius so I didn’t even know why he talks to you.”
James tries to smile. “Well maybe we are friends.” Marlene replies. “Doubt it. He probably just helps you with your homework because he feels bad for you, but then again I don’t even know if he can feel bad for people.”
They reach the Gryffindor tower and James speaks up. “I’m fine with that, just because he doesn’t want to be my friend doesn’t mean we can’t be lovers.”
Marlene chuckles. “I don’t know what you’re on James but, if you couldn’t get Lily to go on a date with you there is absolutely no way you’ll ever get Regulus to date you. Not even to mention you are way out of his league.”
James enters the Gryffindor common room quietly alongside Marlene and quickly says. “Night Marls.” And then goes up to the boys dormitory.
Once James enters the marauders dorm he find Peter reading about some herbology and Remus reading a book with Sirius’ head laying on his chest being dangerously close, to be just friends. He sets his quidditch stuff down, changes into a Gryffindor shirt and some pj pants before settling into his bed and staying quiet. Sirius notices and speaks up.
“So, Jamie. How was practice?” James mumbles. “Fine.” Sirius knows something is up. “You sure, prongs? You’re acting a bit down.”
“I’m alright padfoot, just tired.” Sirius glances at Remus who has put his book down then back at James. “Alright then, night James.”
James didn’t even say goodnight back.
The next morning, James gets woken up by an over energetic Sirius and groans. “Argh, Sirius just go away and let me sleep.” Sirius frowns. “Mate you’ve been all moody since you can back from quidditch practice. Just tell me what’s wrong.” That’s all what it takes before James snaps.
“I said leave me alone now fucking do it! I don’t want to hear your bullshit right now!” Sirius steps away and is shocked by the sudden outburst.
“James, what the fuck was that? You are going bloody mental! I’m your best mate just tell me! What’s wrong with you!” He pauses and then continues. “You are one confusing person James.”
James wanted to scream. Fucking scream. Or tell them about all his problems. But he couldn’t, he couldn’t so instead he just mumbled.
“Please, leave me alone, Sirius.”
Sirius is quick to reply. “No, tell me what’s wrong! All what I wanted to know was what’s got you acting like a moody bitch! Not for you to start yelling at me, now. This is the last time I’m asking, what is wrong?” He takes a deep breath while Remus and Peter are staring at them.
“Just go ask McKinnon.” James says in a cold tone. Sirius is about to speak before Remus pulls him aside and tells him not to.
The rest of the marauders leave and go to the dining hall for breakfast.
“Sirius and Remus sit down next to each other while peter sits down next to lily. Lily is the first to notice James isn’t there. “Where’s James?” Sirius replies. “He’s having a hissy fit. He told everyone to fuck off.”
“That's not like him at all.” Lily says and then Mary joins in. “Yeah, he’s always so joyful.” Lily continues. “I’m gonna go check up in him.” Remus replies.”Followijg eight behind you, lils.”

The first thing Regulus notices when he enters the great hall is James isn’t there. His agitating grin isn’t there. His annoyed loud voice that Regulus misses isn’t there. So where the fuck is he?
“Where is James, guys?” Regulus says.
Barty replies with. “Don’t know. Don’t care.”
Evan joins in. “Yeah, why do you even care so much? I thought you didn’t like him.” He smirks
Regulus whispers. “Okay maybe I do like him but Merlin, where is he?”
Pandora tries to calm Regulus by patting his shoulder gently and saying. “It’s alright Reg, he’s probably just sick or nervous for his next quidditch match.”
“I really hope so.” Regulus says, and then continues talking about James. “I’m fucked, aren’t I?”
Dorcas joins into the conversation. “Sorry to say this Reg, But you are.”
Regulus exclaims. “Fuck!”. Barty and Evan both start laughing their asses off while Regulus is having a mental breakdown.
“Hey, little Reggie!” Sirius calls out from the gryffindor table. “You look like you’re having fun today!” He grins and Regulus flips him off.
“Piss off siri! And don’t call me Reggie you fatass!” Regulus yells back at him.
“I love you too little bro.” Sirius smirks and goes back to talking with Marlene.
