A New Day, New (tentative) Relationships, and New (half-)Revelations(Let Us Adore You by Steven Universe)
Bruce had woken up much earlier than the other two boys and was laying there in silence contemplating all the possible scenarios that could’ve led him to this moment. Just as he was processing the conversation he heard last night between the two other boys he started to hear one of them wake up. He assumes it’s Sirius since Severus would’ve normally already rolled away from him if he was awake. So, he turns his head to see Sirius uncurling himself from behind Severus and begins to rub his eyes.
Sirius is confused by the swarm of green and cold air he wakes up to, but his face clearly shows that his memory of last night starts to slowly come back to him. Sirius turns his head to see if the others are already awake and is a little startled when he locks eyes with Mulciber, who’s giving him a dead and cold expression. Sirius lets out a small, and quite frankly, squeaky “Good morning, sorry about that, I didn’t mean to.” He watches as Bruce’s face softens a little as he looks at Sirius with slight amusement and responds, “Morning, it’s fine. I’m pretty sure were both hostages to his need for heat.” They both lay there in an awkward silence while they waited for Severus, thankfully they didn't have to wait long as they both saw Severus start to turn to lay on his back and stretch his arms out.
Secerus wakes up to see he is lying down in between his boyfriend and his bully/ene,y of his whole six years of attendance at Hogwarts. He looks at both of them before he lets out an irritated groan when he remembers the previous night. It’s then that he hears a light chuckle and a snarky comment he knew was Sirius even in his slightly delirious exhausted state. “You’re starting to regret that helping hand aren’t you” Severus heard Sirius say and so he replied with a quick “Oh fuck off” as he stars to rub his eyes again and rolls onto his stomach so he didn’t have to break his neck trying to see them. “Ok, it’s Saturday so what’s the plan for the day and the rest of the week?”
Sirius nor Severus get to continue their planning before Bruce cuts in with a quick as he sits up “Hold up I wanna know how you guys even ended up being friends?” Sirius and Severus also sit up and glance at each other before the latter starts and says “One. We are not friends” “And. two,” Sirius buts “We started bonding over shared trauma, also known as The Prank.” Bruce looks at Severus with a confused expression and asks what the hell Black is talking about. Severus shoots Sirius a hard stare before turning back to Bruce with a wary look before he starts to explain, only asking Sirius to help when reaching the part about Remus being a werewolf, what happened a few weeks ago.
Bruce sits there looking in between them before anger starts to form on his face and he turns to Sirius and Starts yelling, “YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE AND YOU HAD THE AUDACITY TO SHOW YOUR FACE?!?!?” Meanwhile, Severus is trying to calm his boyfriend down, while Sirius starts to cower and raise his hands as if he’s going to be hit.
When Bruce doesn’t get an answer he gets ready to start yelling again before he notices Sirius’s posture and it strangely reminds him of Severus in their first year of school and the first few days after summer break. Seeing this starts to calm him down and makes him feel like shit, “Shit Black look I'm sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” Bruce starts to reach out his arm when Sirius flinches so badly he almost falls off the bed, thankfully Severus is able to grab him by the arm and keep him from falling.
Severus hesitates before he pulls Sirius in for a hug much like Sirius had done for him the night before, he slowly walks Sirius through breathing until he calms down. Once he is done he throws his boyfriend a glare before gesturing for him to apologize even though the positioning was quite awkward due to Severus and Sirius’ height difference. Once Sirius has fully calmed down he awkwardly gets himself out of the tight embrace before heading towards his things where he had left them the night before and goes “I’m sorry for bothering you, I should’ve known it was a bad idea.” Severus gets up and rushes over to him and grabs him by the wrist. He calmly and softly speaks to Sirius when he says “I don’t regret getting to know Sirius rather than Black last night. Now we are all going to sit down on different beds and calmly talk about this. And Bruce, the only one who gets a say in whether Sirius is forgiven is me and lately, a shit ton of crazy things have been going and all of it led to that stupid catastrophe.”
Both Sirius and Bruce glance at each other before Bruce extends his hand and says “Bruce" in a calm and apologetic tone waiting to see if Sirius will acknowledge him. Sirius responds with a small sad smile and says "Sirius. Black makes me sound like my uncle Cynugus and no, just ew.” Bruce lets out a low chuckle and bows his head in embarrassment as he apologizes to Sirius for the second time that morning, Sirius brushes him off and tells him he reacted understandably upset.
Bruce clears his throat before he goes “Ok how about we get ready and talk until lunch then we can head downstairs however we end up planning.” They all look at each other and nod in agreement as Sirius heads to the bathroom to the bathroom, being the one to have gone the longest without showering. Meanwhile, Severus and Bruce sat down and had a conversation, Sirius didn’t even try to hear just in case they were talking about kicking him out.
Meanwhile, outside the bathroom, Severus and Bruce are talking about what happened that led to The Prank and what’s happened since. “Bruce when I tell you I’ve been dreaming about Lupin I don’t mean I want to sleep with him” “Well damn sev what else am I supposed to think did you see how fit he got when he came back for 6th year” “Ok please I am begging you to shut up I know, but in every dream I have he’s calling me ‘Romulus’ and ‘Brother’ and then all of a sudden he’s crying in pain and a little bit of fear but for some stupid reason neither of us are scared of Greyback. And yes I do honestly think that Sirius can help me figure out whatever the hell is going on.”
Sirius walks out the door with a towel to his head and ruffles it to dry his hair. “I heard the name Romulus. Why are we talking about Remus’ dead twin brother?” “Dead?” Severus states with a mildly horrified face. “Twin brother?” Bruce asks curiously. “Well we're not supposed to tell anyone but I already screwed that one up soooo. Yeah, his twin brother died about half a year after the bite he was there during the bite but he didn’t get bitten. According to Hope, Remus’ mum she’s a muggle so you wouldn’t know her, Romulus would sneak in and spend the nights with Remus and sneak out in the morning. One day their parents rushed in to try to protect Romi this caused Moony to get scared and he accidentally ended up biting Romulus’ leg but also wouldn’t let his parents close enough so he ended up bleeding to death. The story always changed a bit so I'm not sure how truthful it is but yeah that was the gist every time.”
Both Severus and Bruce looked at Sirius in astonishment and finally, Severus said “You said the story changed every time?” Sirius hastily reapplied “I mean yeah it was things like where Romulus got bitten and what month it was.” “Severus let out a Dark Chuckle and responded, “Oh she was defenitely lying about where he got bitten or if he was even bitten, to begin with, cause facts like that never change plus they must’ve buried him somewhere so they would’ve seen where he was bitten.”
Finally, they hear Bruce speak up with an amused tone to his voice “Ok as funny as it is to watch you two geek out we need to plan how we are going to go to Lunch.” “Or we could go with a Chaos Plan?”Sirius speaks up getting an immediate look of curiosity from Severus who asks the question he’s been dying to ask since the previous night. “And what exactly is a chaos plan?”
“Oh I'm glad you asked my dear Sevy a Chaos Plan is a plan where we hash out the important details like what to respond with if someone asks how we became friends or even got close without killing each other and the less significant details we improvise” “One I’m pretty sure I said no stupid nicknames, two we are not friends” “Yet” Sirius hastily replies causing Severus to groan and for Bruce to laugh. “And three why the hell not” This caused Bruce to choke on air and question every decision he’s made so far besides dating Severus.
“Oh, Merlin you too are going to be the death of me,” Bruce said exasperated. “This is how it’s going to go, Sev and I are going to shower and we can plan through the crack of the door so we’re ready when we head out. Understood?” A matching set of “Yes, Sir”’s was said one filled with amusement and one with a slight giddiness.
They spend the next hour or so figuring out their story and getting ready after realizing that by the time they stop talking, it’s already ten in the morning. Bruce starts pulling on a shirt over his head when he hears Severus and Sirius planning to cause drama. He swerves his head over to the two mischief makers and goes “You know it’s startling to see you too get along right? Cause it’s even worse to see you too plotting together.” The two break out into laughs, Severus would kill Bruce if he said it was a giggle. “What are you too even planning to begin with?” “To give Remus a heart attack,” they say in a voice that could almost be called sweet if it weren’t for the extreme amounts of malice in their voices. Sirius continues “First we’re going to walk hand in hand and then I’m going to be talking to Sevy dearest when he is going to loudly exclaim for me to call him by his real name ‘Romulus’ essentially giving him the fright of his life” The little maniac cackling like a villain.
“Okay nevermind I shouldn't have asked, Ok Sirus you’re in my prim proper, Sev in Sirius' casual proper, and me in a mix of all three of our clothes.” Bruce spoke as they headed getting ready to head down those dorm stairs and up to the Great Hall knowing they were going to ruin someone’s perspective on life today.
